@thecapitalsunited i hope you enjoy your holiday! :)
My midwife told me that I will be offered the whooping cough vaccine when I go for the 20wk scan... Then I should also go for the flu vaccine but I don't remember if I have to book it myself... 🤔 That's just too much information and I am rubbish at taking notes during the calls/appointments. I guess I will find out eventually 😅

During my last midwife appointment she told me I will get the baby's blood type checked at the 24 wk appointment, so that they know if I need more Anti-D injections or not (I got one already due to a bleeding some weeks ago)...which is weird because at the beginning they said I would get the injections regardless... Whatever 😅

spttc · 02/09/2021 20:12

Scan done. All well 😁💕🤩

Alle1991 · 02/09/2021 21:48

When you started feeling flutters would you feel them every day? I’ve been busy today so might not have noticed and now overthinking it. I think I’ve just started feeling something in the past week. 19+1 so still early for proper movement x

sociallydistained · 02/09/2021 21:49

@EsseKey my midwife said the same about whooping. I got a text to book flu vaccine this morning. It said to do it via app but I couldn’t find an option to at all so I booked it through Lloyds pharmacy for the 1st of October!

I’ve just had the bloods for anti D done yesterday. She said it can take a while.

thecapitalsunited · 02/09/2021 22:15

@Alle1991 I can’t feel them every day. It’s been the cause of a bit of anxiety but the sensations are so tiny that I can only really feel them last thing at night and since I got my body pillow I’ve been out like a light!

Alle1991 · 02/09/2021 22:50

Think my anxiety is getting the better of me tonight. Can’t wait to feel daily movement and see baby at my 20 wk scan next week

Kayl23 · 03/09/2021 06:34

@spttc Aww glad to hear your scan went well, I bet it was amazing to see her wriggling around again 🥰 mine is next Thursday I can't wait!

thecapitalsunited · 03/09/2021 07:25

@Alle1991 You are not the only one. Big hugs for you.

Even when I do feel things I’m not sure and it just fuels this deep down feeling that everyone has made a mistake and I’m not actually pregnant. Hopefully when I can feel baby on a consistent basis I’ll feel less like that. I’m sure the scan will only help for a day or two before I go back to worrying.

SouthwestSis · 03/09/2021 08:38

I'm also on scan countdown, mine is next weds and have booked an outdoor table at a nice restaurant for afterwards so hopefully we can make a little celebration of it!

I'm at a wedding today, been helping to set it up last couple days. People are coughing, no one I know who is has even taken a lateral flow, we are staying in a big cottage with the wedding party. Feel I'm being a drama queen, but feeling really uncomfortable. It's a UK based wedding for a couple who live internationally, so people have flown in, and there's 160+ people here. I've only had one vaccine. Going to try to enjoy it, and it's my sisters wedding so I want to be here. But also I've been kissed and hugged by so many people already and so there's probably no point trying to avoid it at the reception today 🤷‍♀️ It's so awkward saying no in the moment, especially if I don't know them well and they don't know I'm pregnant.

sociallydistained · 03/09/2021 10:45

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Youre definitely not being a drama Queen! I really feel for you, I’d be on edge even with two vaccines.
My friend has just text saying her son has covid and I have been around them although outside but I’m feel rough today (woke up with a headache in the night). Going to do lateral flow in a bit.

Since my appointment where I heard the heart beat I feel I’m feeling the baby move a lot! Especially when laying down. There’s definite things happening in my stomach! I’ll be exactly 20 weeks at my scan on Thursday. Really hope I can avoid covid before then! Seems to be circling me at the mo!

Bells3032 · 03/09/2021 12:21

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 deff not a drama queen. i would be going mad and I am double vaxxed!! We decided to cancel attending a wedding in a couple of weeks as we didn't feel comfortable. One of my closest friends is vulnerable as she has had a transplant. her brother is getting married next month and she's decided to go for the pre-wedding stuff but is just gonna sit in her room for the wedding itself (she's also double vaxxed).

We've said no to kissing and hugging in general (DH's family are very kiss/hug people).

SouthwestSis · 03/09/2021 12:50

Agree you are definitely not a drama queen @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and completely ridiculous that people are coughing and not isolating and getting a PCR test, selfishly putting everyone else at risk.

Definitely ok to politely decline the hugs and kisses, it's already going to be risky enough for you with so many people and after just 1 jab.
Honestly a moment of awkwardness is worth it, your health and your baby are so much more important!

spttc · 03/09/2021 13:38

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 honestly I'm surprised anyone would be kissing & hugging 😬 sort of mental. I'd be deeply uncomfortable in your shoes, I honestly am not sure what I'd do in that situation. Even double vaxxed there's just no way I'd feel ok

EsseKey · 03/09/2021 16:40

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I agree with everyone! definitely not a drama queen, I am so surprised that people behave this way! Even though I have myself just been to a wedding in the Netherlands, where they don't have ANY covid measure at all anymore, and people really don't care at all! They only wear masks on public transport because the public transport company decided it, but other than that no one seems to remember that there is a pandemic going on...crazy!
luckily at that wedding there were only 50 people and the bride asked everyone to show vaccination OR do a test as soon as they arrived...

I hope that everything will be ok at the end and that you still manage to have a good time at your sister's wedding!

@spttc soooo pleased to hear that everything is ok!

sjxoxo · 04/09/2021 20:22

@sociallydistained is that the antibody test for the rhesus + you had? I need to get that done - midwife told me month 6 so I’m thinking a few weeks time.

Is anyone getting any braxton hicks.. this week I’ve had a few times when my stomach goes all hard- not painful but uncomfortable, quite high up like level with my belly button! I wasn’t sure what it was but after a Google (obvs 🤣) I think it might be braxton hicks!!! I’m finding my stomach really uncomfortable this week; feels massive & getting in the way; also think I have some round ligament pain which is also a bit uncomfortable! Anyone else? Xox

Trinacham · 04/09/2021 20:35

@sjxoxo I had braxton hicks just the once when I was 16 weeks so far. This is my first and I didn't realise what it was, so googled what I felt.. then realised it was that! I never knew it could start so early.

Another one here looking forward to our 20 week scan next week (Tuesday!). I have been trying to be excited for it but there has been doubt as to whether hubby can come or not. We are colleagues and work have been making it sound like it is the end of the world with both of us leaving work a whole 1.5hrs early! We are even coming in early so it will actually only be 30 minutes earlier than our normal working hours. I do tend to worry over nothing though.. and I think we will be able to go together no problem, providing we don't have loads of colleagues call in sick (fingers crossed)

EsseKey · 04/09/2021 20:41

@sjxoxo i have contractions quite regularly, i think they are called differently so early in pregnancy but are basically the same as braxton hicks, so they are normal and nothing to worry about... My doctor just said that magnesium supplements might help in case they happen too often!

Is anyone else starting feeling their skin stretching? It happened since a couple of days for me and it is very uncomfortable, even though I don't really have a big bump at this stage! I feel my skin tight on my stomach and back....
I use normal moisturiser on a daily basis but I have started now to use something more specific for stretch mark prevention (following friends' advice, and assuming that those oils actually works......)

sjxoxo · 04/09/2021 20:46

@Trinacham yes I was surprised too I didn’t think they would come this early on; I thought it’s muscle aches from the weight or baby moving but seems not! Argh I feel you re the day of the scan. I am booking annual leave now for days where we’ve got a scan so it just removes the stess- I can’t get out on time, rush to the hospital etc I decided F that and the next one (15 sept!) I’ve just booked the day off!

On a little side note- is anyone using any lovely skin products- oils etc on bump. I have been using Jojoba oil and love it; and also I got a sample of Diptyques ‘precious oils’ and I think I’m going to have to buy the full size as it’s divine on the bump and smell is so relaxing!! xo

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/09/2021 21:21

Thanks everyone, I'll do a lateral flow tomorrow, but yes I was in very close contact with a tonne of people.

@Bells3032 completely understand with your vulnerable friend, that'd be very worrying and I think she's doing the right thing not going to the actual wedding.

@EsseKey that sounds great, a more intimate wedding and everyone to test before coming. Glad you had a good time!

@sjxoxo just not standard coconut or rosehip oil here, I probably do need to up my game with some more luxurious oils or balms

sjxoxo · 04/09/2021 22:21

@EsseKey sorry I didn’t see your post about skin stretching- Yes absolutely I am also!! My belly button is not going to last very long as an ‘innie’ I don’t think.. it’s already half out! Hence why I am also looking for oils etc 😁 Ive no idea if those stretch mark oils work or not.. I think ‘bio oil’ is meant to be good, pregnant or not.
I’m definitely interested to try @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 ‘s rosehip oil suggestion now though! I’ve never used it before but it sounds yum. Is it quite a thick oil or thin would you say? I’ve tried coconut and almond but find them thick and hard to get them to absorb! End up wandering round unable to put any clothes on ha ha.

Another more exciting baby purchase this week, I bought the pram! Been to a few shops but feel so overwhelmed by the choice, so in the end I took a bit of a risk and just ordered blind online from icklebubba- has anyone had any of their stuff before? I bought a complete system thing with the V3 stomp in sand/black colour way. Haven’t received it yet but hoping it will be good! It seemed a great price for everything included & lots of good reviews and won awards etc. If anyone is also considering that one I can put some feedback up when it comes. Hoping it will be light & easy to fold! I’d never heard of them before but this is baby no.1 so I’ve heard of nothing except pampers 🤣 Xo

EsseKey · 04/09/2021 22:26

@sjxoxo bio-oil has been recommended to me by a friend, but another one says it's rubbish and she preferred hyppericum oil! They both just had babies...I guess it's down to personal preference. I have bought both oils and going to try them both... I will let you know 😜

spttc · 05/09/2021 11:38

I'm thinking of getting this for my bump/skin. They've a few nice things for pregnancy that brand. https://myexpertmidwife.ie/products/fantastic-skin-elastic?pos=1&&sid=a271cff13&ss=r

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/09/2021 12:20

@sjxoxo I actually quite like the rose hip oil, been using it on my face too. It's a lot lighter than coconut oil for example, and 4-5 drops seems to

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/09/2021 12:21

Sorry... seems to moisturise stomach enough. It's just plain though, no lovely fragrances etc. But a couple friends recommended it so thought I'd give it a try.
