@missbee404 Yes I am too. Started feeling movement a week or two ago, but haven't really had much the past few days. I have been really busy so not sure if there has been and I just haven't noticed. When I spoke to the midwife, she said its normal to not really have a pattern yet so not to worry.. but that doesn't stop me from worrying haha!

Also, I hadn't been sick for over 3 weeks and the nausea had pretty much stopped. But I randomly had a wave of nausea yesterday and then was sick when I got in from work! So naturally I am worrying about that too! Sad

Just caved and booked a gender and wellbeing scan in for this Sunday!! I am so excited! Grin My husband is convinced its a boy and I am convinced its a girl.. so we've bet and whoever loses is buying lunch ;)

Those of you who already know the baby's sex, was your gut feeling right, or did it turn out to be the opposite?

@expectinglittlebear exciting! I thought boy, and also thought he looked like a boy in the scans, turns out it was a boy.

What're you thinking?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/08/2021 11:31

Is it from head shape or nub theory or just a feeling?

expectinglittlebear · 18/08/2021 11:39

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Just a feeling, so its probably incorrect haha! Little one was being a nightmare in the 12wk scan so pictures we got weren't very clear. I will see if I can upload the 12wk scan - I am no good with all of these theory things!

OP posts:
expectinglittlebear · 18/08/2021 11:40

This was the 12wk scan when I was 12+5. No idea where to even start with the theories 🤣

@expectinglittlebear I'm rubbish also! TBF in the scan he said 'it's a boy' straight away, pointing it out in the screen. I still couldn't see a thing and was feeling very sorry for the boy in later life 😂

I'm going to guess a boy on yours, but the scan doesn't show a lot of their face. But I've a roughly 50/50 chance of being right!

spttc · 18/08/2021 11:52

@expectinglittlebear at my scan yesterday I was told on first baby it's normal to not feel any movement as late as week 24 so I wouldn't be worried at all about that. You feel it earlier when it's not your first. Iv felt nothing yet at all but baby is perfect. Until week 7 I thought boy but then I suddenly changed my mind to girl and was sure it was a girl. My husband still thought boy. We had the panorama test at 9+2 & found out it's a girl 💓 i don't think there's anyway of knowing. It's a 50/50 chance so I think peoples gut feelings are right approx 50% of the time. If there was 52 gender options they would be correct less often I suspect 😂 good luck with it though very exciting! Do you have a preference

expectinglittlebear · 18/08/2021 11:54

Haha yeah its 50/50! No preference as long as baby is healthy, I just have this feeling its a girl.. but I guess we will hopefully find out on Sunday!

@expectinglittlebear exciting about the scan on Sunday! I was convinced mine was a boy. But then the nub techs said girl using the ramzi theory with my 8 week scan and then girl again using the nub theory on my 12 week scan. Turns out they were right and I was wrong and it is a girl!

I am going to guess from your scan a girl!

spttc · 18/08/2021 14:05

So funny we have so many girls in this group! We've only 1 confirmed boy so far I think. I can't remember who. But I think we're up to 6 girls 😂💓 #teampink

Kayl23 · 18/08/2021 20:08

Hey, thanks everyone who replied to my comment about second hand stuff and sorry I'm so terrible at keeping up to date with this thread! We've agreed on second hand clothes and small bits now but the big things we're buying new, especially the car seat after reading into it. But now I have absolutely no idea what car seat to get, does anyone have suggestions?!

Regarding scans, we had a gender scan yesterday and found out we're having a boy! I was convinced it was a girl based on my gut feeling, but then the nub theory also said it was a girl. But nope, definitely a boy! We also got a 4D scan so got to kinda see his face 🥰

BobbleWobble1 · 18/08/2021 21:31

@Tangfastic91 I had a removable car seat to begin with. Everyone insisted that this was essential and I was mad to consider a fixed seat. If I'd had my time again I'd have got a fixed seat ideally one that spins. I think a lot depends on how much you drive. I usually didn't have the car in the week so mostly walked everywhere. When I did have the car, I generally had a screaming baby who definitely didn't want to be there. He wasn't a small fry either so the seat soon became too heavy for me to lift. I can see why someone drives a lot with a baby who sleeps would argue the opposite so do think about your lifestyle and how you would use the seat.

It's great so many of are/have found out the sex. We will hopefully find out next week. I'm hoping that I'm going to start feeling a bit more excited. They aren't lying when they say pregnancy is harder second time. I feel like I'm just dragging myself through the days.

Scottishgal85 · 18/08/2021 22:31

We had our scan at the weekend too and we are having a wee boy 🥰💙
I had a feeling it was going to be a girl, but obviously I was wrong.

I haven't even started to think about car seats etc. Was going to wait til after our anomaly scan. There's so much choice though, I honestly don't know where to start Confused

Tangfastic91 · 18/08/2021 22:32

Thanks @BobbleWobble1 I don't think we'll be in the car all that much. I have my eye on a 360 spin fixed seat so may just go for it. If the hospital are funny about it, I'll buy a really cheap carry seat second hand and just transfer baby in the car park!

Trinacham · 19/08/2021 07:27

I have my 16 week check up today. Can anyone tell me what it involves? Just wondering as it's only 20 mins! Guessing blood pressure, urine test, co2 monitor.. anything else? When is it usually to hear the heartbeat at your appointments? I haven't yet but really want to Sad

Trinacham · 19/08/2021 07:34

Usual*

Trinacham · 19/08/2021 07:36

As for the car seat discussion - I'm looking at getting the Maxi-Cosi Coral with the 360 base. I like the look of that seat as it has an insert, so you can remove bub still in seat without taking the whole car seat out

MamaDaria · 19/08/2021 07:49

@Trinacham The 16 week appointment didnt involve much in my case. Midwife look at my blood pressure, urine, and entered my blood results from 8th week to the booklet and thats it. Depending on the region of UK, some get to listen to the babys heartbeat.

Trinacham · 19/08/2021 07:52

Thank you @MamaDaria!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/08/2021 07:54

@MamaDaria oh no not everyone gets to hear the heartbeat? Seems such a faff going to the hospital and waiting just for that.

Can I ask if anyone had lower Papp A? Mines was borderline low at 0.5 mom, I've asked them if I need to take aspirin, no one has got back to me for three weeks. You're meant to start before 16 weeks but obviously I'm over that now so wondering whether to just start myself - is anyone on aspirin?

Trinacham · 19/08/2021 08:17

My 16 week appointment is at the local clinic not far from my home, rather than hospital, so I'm doubting that I will hear the heartbeat then.

spttc · 19/08/2021 10:00

Congrats on your little boy @Kayl23 & @Scottishgal85 💙💙 Was mainly all girls so we needed a few little guys

Omg I didn't even know there was an option of fixed or removable 😂 Iv done no research and know nothing about car seats 😬 I'll have to get on that.

thecapitalsunited · 19/08/2021 10:48

I'm also looking a fixed 360 seat. We probably won't go out in the car much so an infant carry seat will be a bit wasted and I like the idea of it not being touched once we know that it's been installed properly.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Don't be put off, the other checks aren't a waste of time. Elevated blood pressure and protein in the urine can be a sign of developing pre-eclampsia. And you won't know until you go whether you are in an area where you can hear the heartbeat!

expectinglittlebear · 19/08/2021 11:35

Probably got far too much time on my hands, but now we are starting to find out sexes, thought I’d get a little list together! I’ve tried to go back through the thread so if your EDD etc changed from the original one, let me know and I’ll amend it 🥰
