@babyyy1926 I'm not entirely sure why, I'm guessing it's because at the anomaly scan they are more focused on checking the baby for any issues, so their focus has to be on that. It might also be incase it isn't easy to tell?
I just remember seeing signs up at my 12 week scan and thought I would be best to go private just in case!

Jonesy88 · 12/08/2021 20:47

I’m so jealous for people having their scans. Toying with booking a private scan as my 20 week scan is still 4 weeks away.

Very randomly I’m starting to struggle bending over. I can still bend but not to the same angle/extent as I did before if that makes sense. I thought this would happen more in the 3rd trimester and I don’t have a bump yet, but obviously there’s something there!

spttc · 12/08/2021 21:01

@Jonesy88 I know what you mean about bending over, it just feels weird doesn't it.

Are you finding out the gender or no?

Jonesy88 · 12/08/2021 21:03

@spttc nope, we’re team surprise! I feel baby is a boy though.

sociallydistained · 12/08/2021 21:10

So I managed quite a bit of exercise this week and back to cooking (and wanting vegetables!) healthy meals and trying to make up for the mess that was the first trimester… however I have still managed two big slices of rocky road 🤦🏻‍♀️ Small steps I guess lol

spttc · 12/08/2021 21:21

@sociallydistained I'm the same. I feel much more normal and myself. Good energy levels etc. apart from occasional nausea I don't feel pregnant. Which worries me sometimes but I know is normal at this stage. Savoring it!

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 13/08/2021 07:18

I've also started having energy to exercise again as for 4 months I've only had the energy to drag myself out to walk the dog. I was running 5k regularly beforehand but have just started Couch to 5k again and will see how far I can get before it gets difficult again.

It's exciting hearing about everyone's baby genders. I wasn't sure if I wanted to find out before the baby was born but am leaning more towards it at the 20 week scan in 4 weeks, as DH definitely wants to.

I bought my first maternity/nursing clothes this week which was a fun milestone.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 13/08/2021 08:27

@Littlemiss41andfabulous I didn't want to find out the gender, but my partner did, mainly for baby names I think as we'll only have to think of one set! The Dr asked us during the scan, and we just kind of said yes, so it just happened. A friend has generously given me boxes clothes from her little ones and they're barely used / still have tags, I'm honestly not fussed if he's in baby grows meant for girls 😂 so it doesn't bother me from prep really. Maybe I should have kept it as a surprise!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 13/08/2021 08:28

@Littlemiss41andfabulous I also need to get back to running and exercising, and the gym. Feel like my body has become weaker with no definition, amazing how quickly it goes. Have you found running okay/comfortable?

spttc · 13/08/2021 09:22

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 we are doing a mixture of both....we always wanted to find out ourselves. Always. We've both kind of been more excited and bonded with our baby almost since we've found out etc as we know she's a girl, we saw little ballet shoes in decathlon the other day and both melted 😍🙈😂 BUT we've decided not to tell anyone else 🤐🤫 so it's our little secret. So we had our surprise the day we found out and we get to see everyone else's surprise when she's here 💖🎀🥰

expectinglittlebear · 13/08/2021 09:43

Glad to hear everyone is getting on okay and finding out the sexes! How exciting!!

I am so impatient and want to book in a private scan too for the gender. I used Ultrasound Direct / Baby Bond for our early private scan but they don't have appointments for a gender scan for a few weeks and I don't want to wait that long and it will be closer to my 20wk one anyway... So I have had a look and Window to the Womb seem to have appointments for a gender scan from next week. Has anyone been to WTTW before and know if they are any good?

thecapitalsunited · 13/08/2021 10:30

@expectinglittlebear I went to a WTTW for my early scan and both DH and I were impressed at the set up. Seemed very slick. The person who did the scan was very nice and reassuring. The Ultrasound Direct here is next to a curry shop in a crap part of town so it was a massive turn off.

Like @Jonesy88, I'm another one in Team Surprise so no scan for me until the 20 week which is booked for 13 September. Because I have high BMI I'll also be getting growth scans after the 20 week scan to make sure I'm not brewing a monster baby.

NameChanged15729 · 13/08/2021 10:42

Hi everyone, can I join you all?
I’ve been lurking but up until this past week where I’ve started feeling little movements it hasn’t felt real.
I’m 17+1, due the 21st January and this is my third. I can’t believe how different this pregnancy is to the last two! The last two were almost easy sailing but this one has been filled with nausea, headaches and now round ligament pain.
I have a sexing scan tomorrow and I’m hoping that when I know what we are having I’ll start feeling the need to get prepared. At the minute I’ve not really thought about it much!

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 13/08/2021 10:46

@spttc I think we'll do the same - have our own private surprise at the 20 week scan and not tell anyone else until baby's born.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 not too bad so far. I went for my 3rd jog this week this morning. I'm trying to jog on grass rather than tarmac, and probably going slower than I would if I wasn't pregnant as I don't want baby to be tossed around too much!! Reassured by all that I've read that said running is safe to do in pregnancy though. It feels really good to do some (low key) aerobic exercise again 😊

NameChanged15729 · 13/08/2021 10:46

Oh and I used wttw for a scan at around the 11 week mark because my midwife forgot about me and I was worried I wouldn’t get the 12 week scan on time. They were brilliant! Really friendly and the clinic didn’t have that sterile feel that instantly makes me nervous.
I’ve booked with them again tomorrow after finding them so welcoming the first time.

Tangfastic91 · 13/08/2021 10:50

So I caved and booked a wttw scan for next week. We are off work for a couple of weeks now, and I think it will help me relax and appreciate the time off a bit more than worrying about the 20 week scan.

Welcome @missbee404 & @NameChanged15729 😁🎉

Yeh @Littlemiss41andfabulous I love the idea of best of both worlds! I plan on keeping the nursery pretty neutral anyway so they won't know. Then any of the girly bits we can add when she's here, little decorations, bedding etc 🥰 I'll just store away all the pink frilly things 😂

Alle1991 · 13/08/2021 14:23

@Ralala please can you send me the link for the Facebook page

spttc · 13/08/2021 15:43

@Alle1991 I think this is it? I don't really use Facebook

If anyone is in london, highly recommend Dr Ushkov in Spitalfields. He's really thorough, clinic is lovely, and he's an expert in fetal abnormalities. I'm planning to go back at 23 weeks for an in depth scan

Same as me 😊
samdevon · 13/08/2021 22:47

Hi everyone! In case you missed it we have a Facebook group now, if we all join it and post on there rather than here it should take off! It's called 'Jan Adventures'. I'm on one for my first baby and it was/is brilliant.
