There’s already a March thread but everyone seems so far along already with people
Due at the beginning of March.

I’ve estimated I’m due around 29th of March so thought I’d make a thread for that! Anyone else?
Ive just come back from holiday, I took the tests the first day we got there to check if it could enjoy a cocktail or two.. ended up with mocktails instead! Grin

How are we feeling? Any symptoms yet?

@Ashalee32

Hi so I’m 6 weeks pregnant, I went for a scan today (had bleeding at the weekend) and they said the gestational sac hasn’t quite grown to what it should be… 4mm instead of 7mm growth, and to prepare for a miscarriage…. Has anyone else had this? And did they manage to go for the follow up scan and all be ok? Or will it end in miscarriage indefinitely??

Booked in for 10 days time to see what’s happened
Many thanks 😬

Hi Ashalee, I haven't got any experience in that area, sorry. I just wanted to say sorry that you're going through this and I hope it's just a slow grower. All you can do is wait and see, but it's horrible not knowing. Flowers

@bubblepond you’re welcomeSmileit can be really overwhelming when it’s your first pregnancy and your not sure what you should be feeling. Thank you!

@Ashalee32 hey, I haven’t got any experience either but just wanted to say I’m sorry to hear what’s happening and will be thinking of you. Fingers crossed all is well, the wait between scans is so stressful!!

@Ashalee32 so sorry to read that you're going through this.. I haven't any experience but I do hope that it's just a slow grower and all is ok at your next scan ā¤ļøšŸ¤žšŸ»

Off work today for the first time as was up vomiting/nauseous most of the night, vomited at work yesterday too. DH has brought me some ginger biscuits up to bed.
Seems I've hit the classic 9 week sickness peak (or at least I hope so!)

GeorgiaMcGraw · 27/08/2021 10:12

Oof @bubblepond that's rough, hope it improves. Like you say, you're nearly through the worst of it now, lots of ginger required! I've been enjoying fentimans ginger beer, really helps with nausea.

GeorgiaMcGraw · 27/08/2021 10:14

Update from me after panicking about the spotting I've had now for about 3 weeks: had a private scan today and it's all fine! Good heartbeat visible, they think it's 7wk5 which is about what I was hoping for. They also explained the "complex area" on my ovary that the nhs scan picked up is just bits of old follicle from where I ovulated. Really good and reassuring. Hope everyone gets good news on any upcoming scans x

bubblepond · 27/08/2021 10:51

@GeorgiaMcGraw that's brilliant news! So happy for you and hope the worst of the stress is over for you now :)

Thanks so much! Feeling better today. Just had my booking appointment, private scan on Sunday!

Bluebell88 · 27/08/2021 11:26

I’m now 9+1 and still haven’t had my booking appointment scheduled with a midwife.

I’m in Hampshire and will be having maternity care at Southampton hospital, they have an online self referral system. I followed up on Monday and was told there were 100 women ahead of me to be processed! The person I spoke to did say they’d send off to get my scans booked in but I’m starting to worry now, I don’t want to chase them again as she said one of the reasons they’re behind is because people are (rightly) calling to follow up on referrals.

When is the booking appointment supposed to have happened by? Is there a latest point for early tests etc? I’m a FTM so this is all new to me.

I’m also worried about quality of care because surely such a high volume of patients will mean they’re pretty stretched? Or is this just normal?When I called last week I was told there were 400 women ahead of me!

Yes, I feel so much calmer already! Hope your scan goes well on Sunday too :)

GeorgiaMcGraw · 27/08/2021 11:34

@bluebell88 Hi there, I had my booking appointment schedule for approx 10 weeks, but they put it in the diary a couple of days after I called them at 5 weeks. I don't see why they should have a delay just to book it in! If you're able to, you could look at getting a private scan booked in early just for reassurance/an update? They generally cost £50-£100

Hello. I had my booking appointment today at 10 weeks. I also had an antenatal GP appointment and it was my GP who arranged the bloods and urine sample and referral for the scan, so perhaps you can call the GP? The booking appointment with the midwife was then just a case of going through medical history etc.
Bluebell88 · 27/08/2021 12:11

@GeorgiaMcGraw I know, it’s so frustrating!
I think I’m going to have to call again on Monday if I don’t hear today.
I’ve already had two private scans šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø 1 because I was really anxious at 6+3 and the second at 8+4 because we were telling the in-laws and wanted to be sure everything was progressing ok. Luckily all is good, strong heartbeat and growing on schedule so at least I have that reassurance.
I’m just naturally an anxious person and feel like I’m never going to get seen if they’ve got such a backlog!

Really glad to hear your scan went well after your worries, so lovely to see it for real isn’t it!

Bluebell88 · 27/08/2021 12:14

@hopeful234

I spoke to the GP early on and they told me I had to do the online referral and wait for a call, none of it is done with the GP down here 😩 they process referrals in order based on LMP, hopefully they call today and it’s not a long wait for an apt.

Dyra · 27/08/2021 12:18

If it helps any @Bluebell88, with my first baby I didn't have my booking appointment until late 11 weeks (11+5 iirc). It was only a few days before my 12 week scan. There's nothing they do that needs to happen before your scan.

It definitely seems like there might be a bit of a March/April baby boom. While I got my booking appointment very quickly, my scan is comparatively late. While I'm sure I'm not as far along as it suggests (long cycles), by LMP I will be 14 weeks!

So glad your scan went well @GeorgiaMcGraw.

Carolinesyear · 27/08/2021 13:19

Great news @GeorgiaMcGraw pleased a fellow spotter has had good news. I had a private scan last Thursday due to spotting and they measured me at 7+3 and saw a heart beat.
I then had pink spotting on Monday and woke up on Tuesday to quite a bit of brown spotting, convinced I was losing the baby I phoned the EPU and they scanned me the same day and measured me 8 weeks and said everything looked fine: she didn't seem too bothered about the spotting and could see no reason for it on the scan.
Could it be low progesterone or cervix? I think I'm going to book an appointment with the gp to look at my cervix but until then pray that the placenta takes over quickly and everything is ok.
I had another light pink bleed last night but nothing this morning. It's all very distressing

Glad your scans have gone well, I think you need to try to accept that things are going well, and the spotting has happened at the same time as a healthy pregnancy. I did ask for reasons, he suggested implantation (blood can take ages to come out) and for my red spots - just an increase of blood in the area, it's easy for vessels to pop. Sonographer was not at all worried about blood or brown discharge. I hope everything progresses well for you and some of the worry eases x
Carolinesyear · 27/08/2021 14:26

@GeorgiaMcGraw
Yes you are absolutely right, when I went in for my second scan and explained what had happened the sonographer didn't seem to be concerned that I'd miscarried. She was just 'lie back and let's look at the bean' I asked her if it was common and she said, not normal but not uncommon. Of course I'd be more worried if it was just the one bleed. I'm kind of getting used to the slightly tinged toilet roll every now and again. How many weeks are you know? I have to wait until 12+5 for my next scan; dunno how I'll cope. Maybe another private scan in between to put my mind at rest

GeorgiaMcGraw · 27/08/2021 14:56

@carolinesyear I'm probably not far behind you. He measured me today as 7wk5 but said he thought it looked more like 8 week's development. Every time I wipe I great brown, occassionally pinkish, discharge. It has eased off a bit now, had more heavy, red discharge last week, but I know it could come back. There are so many reasons for blood: fibroids, polyps, irritation on the cervix, hormonal changes and hypervascularisation (if that's a word), hematoma, implantation. Miscarriage is only one reason, and that would be the kind of bleeding that fills pads quickly. I'm getting another private scan in 2 weeks, I know I won't be able to wait until my NHS dating scan!

This is a good read, she had a baby boy. Is this your first pregnancy?

GeorgiaMcGraw · 27/08/2021 15:53

@carolinesyear haha, I liked her account of things. This is my second pregnancy, my first was a mmc. Baby developed to maybe 7 weeks, pregnancy symptoms and growing placenta/belly continued. Found out at 12 week scan, completed the miscarriage naturally at 14 weeks. Awful time. And no bleeding or spotting, funnily enough! How about you?

bubblybrit · 27/08/2021 16:37

Brilliant news @GeorgiaMcGraw. So pleased that you are now reassured and everything is ok x
