Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

@Juicytoot287 I felt the same tbh I had got into my head about the ELCS so had to try and get back in the mindset for hopefully a natural delivery. I'm finishing work this week and going to redo the hypnobirthing videos and try and get myself in a good mental headspace for it.

Saying that though, if you feel that you would prefer an ELCS you could still ask for it?

MeadowHay · 04/10/2021 16:19

Great news @mooloop. I've never had a late scan like that, I'd love to see one!

@Juicytoot287 have a think but you could still request an ELCS if that's what you'd prefer regardless of baby's position Flowers

I have mild period-like cramps which is how my first labour started and I don't feel excited or anything I just feel sick with anxiety Sad I know it could start and go away or could take days or whatever too so I can't stay in this constant state of anxiety aaargh so sad that something that should be so exciting just makes me feel so scared Sad.

mooloop · 04/10/2021 16:48

Awww @MeadowHay I don't think your feelings are unusual! How many weeks/days are you now?

I've had some mild period type pains for the past couple of days but they soon went away so I definitely don't think my little one is gearing up yet. I did have a bit of a funny tummy this morning (sorry tmi Blush) which freaked me out a bit but I feel normal again now so probably just yet another strange late pregnancy symptom!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 04/10/2021 18:14

Hiya ladies
Here I introduce Macy Olivia Louise born 11:06am this morning.
8lb 14oz. We are in complete awe at her. She has the most awesome hair!
The section went absolutely amazingly, it was the most surreal, incredible experience of my entire life. I'm doing quite well now and not in much pain at all! Xx

summerhillgang · 04/10/2021 19:02

Oh wow perfect little baby @MyGrassIsBrowner - so glad it was a super positive experience for you! Enjoy your snuggles with little Macy πŸ₯°

Some contractions started for me today but have died off xx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 04/10/2021 19:15

Thank you so much mamas! 😘
Honestly, if you are considering an ELCS.. go for it! I cant even begin to express how amazing it was. Literally a different realm to my horrific first vaginal birth. All I've done all day is cry happy tears. Although I did fully convince myself I was going to die on the operating table this morning, couldn't have been further from the reality! Took her 4 mins to pull out but she was quite wedged in there cause she was a heffer πŸ˜…
I hope things start happening for you soon ladies, so excited to see some more babas! Xxx

How is everyone? My period-like pains petered out sometime whilst I was asleep last night phew panic over haha. Midwife texted me to telle she's booked me in for induction at 3pm on the 19th. Really not happy about the late time! Have texted her back to ask if there's any way it can be earlier in the day and also whether outpatient induction is an option. She hasn't replied but she literally never does, I was in shock to get a text from her in the first place! Will discuss with her on Fri when she comes though. Will also probably agree to a sweep then to try and avoid induction.

Juicytoot287 · 06/10/2021 09:07

@MeadowHay Hey hun, how many weeks will you be then? Defo push for what your comfortable with as that cannot tell you what to do :)

In typical fashion I was in hospital a few evenings ago getting checked over from some lighter movements, no worries but the midwife said I felt breech again πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ All the midwives are now really intrigued for my scan to see what she is laying like which is quite amusing but also frustrating. Will be glad to finally know!

Definitely feeling the size of her now, getting a lot of pain on the inside of my thighs right by my pelvis which are not nice plus my usual back ache.

Hungryinthefridge · 06/10/2021 10:39

Term today so have my midwife appointment later. Am thinking she'll suggest a sweep for the next appointment. Am leaning towards accepting that like @MeadowHay to avoid induction. Would rather wait til 41+5, but am thinking she won't want to do it on another day than wednesday, due to other ladies' appointments! Really hoping for a water birth at the MLU this time 🀞

@Juicytoot287 hope your niggling pains subside soon. Can sympathise! Hope you find out either way where she's lying, they're tricky like buggers! She could end up turning during labour.

Hungryinthefridge · 06/10/2021 10:40

Little*

Juicytoot287 · 06/10/2021 10:44

@Hungryinthefridge Do you mean term as in 37 or 40? Sorry confused easily lol. I am hoping for water birth too or at least to try it out in the MLU so fingers crossed for you. If it is just the sweep you want and she doesn't have appointments you can try sew an alternative? I had to push to see a different midwife because I didn't want to hang about waiting to see if she was Breech but I am glad I did because it meant my scan was booked in early enough etc. as the hospital is busy.

Hungryinthefridge · 06/10/2021 11:26

@Juicytoot287 40! Waters went on my due date with my ds so was half expecting it this morning haha. Hope you get what you want too Smile
That's true. They might do it later at the hospital? I'll ask her today and see what she suggests. Want one between 41 and 42 weeks to give her as long as possible to come naturally because can only go to the MLU between 37 and 42 weeks.

MeadowHay · 06/10/2021 11:30

@Juicytoot287 my due date is tomorrow! So I will be 40+1 on Fri and my MW said I could have a sweep then if I want. Which will be funny cos I have my appts at home, we just sit in the living room but I guess I will have to take her to our bedroom to do a sweep so I can lay on the bed?! It will be awkward for her though as it's obviously a lot lower down than a hospital bed, but she never mentioned it would be a problem so am assuming it would be ok?! @Peacefulspirit do you think this will be ok in your professional opinion? Grin how are you getting on too?!

I am hoping to try the pool this time too and stay on MLU as well. Unless I change my mind and want an epidural Wink.

That sounds like some PGP @Juicytoot287 that's one of the places I get pain so I sympathise! I find paracetamol, warm wheat bags and making sure I don't do too much of the aggravating factors helps.

@Hungryinthefridge I have my induction booked in for 41+5, our trust tries to get you to book in between 40+6 and 41+1 I think my MW said but I've declined that and opted for a later date. Honestly I convinced myself this one would be well out by now I'm quite shocked! With my DD I spent the whole of 'today' (i.e. 39+6) in early labour and she was born 'tomorrow' at 40. But nothing so far!

Juicytoot287 · 06/10/2021 11:51

@MeadowHay oh really? I havent had it until now and it is worst after I wake up. I am sleeping eith a pillow between my legs at they say but obviously doesn't work. I can manage my hour walks still so not to debilitating but not comfortable by any means haha.

Oh ladies reaching 40 weeks is so exciting for you but I do understand the wanting them out now part for you to get the ideal births. I haven't had a smeer or anything before so feeling very apprehensive about sweeps but I am a few weeks off those conversations now so that can wait haha

MeadowHay · 06/10/2021 15:05

@Juicytoot287 yup, my pain is usually at its worst overnight and first thing in the morning. It's because there's so much pressure on your hips with sleeping on your side. I also sleep with a pillow between my knees, it still hurts but would be unbearable without it. I use a big thick pillow, a thinner one wouldn't be as good, could you find a bigger pillow to try? I'd never had a smear before my first pregnancy, the sweep I found soo painful but I know other people said they didn't hurt so it seems like it's different for everyone. Not keen to repeat the experience but even less keen on the potential faff of induction.

Peacefulspirit · 06/10/2021 19:39

Hey lovely bunch. Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA, my mood has been crap the last few days and I really didn’t want to bring a negative vibe here! Nothing I can put my finger on other than late pregnancy moans. I totally empathise with the stopping and starting niggles, nothing worth getting excited about but frustrating.
@MeadowHay totally no worries having a sweep on the bed, a lot of post dates appointments happen at home. Good luck!
I wonder if baby is breech or not @Juicytoot287 I know that having had so many children before this one bobs in and out of the pelvis like a bloody jack in the box, I know she’ll need some contractions before she stays put.
Good luck this week everyone, as due dates come and go I am trying to just stay peaceful (bloody ironic username at the minute!) I’m not even due until Saturday!! X
