Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

@Juicytoot287 congratulations!! How are you both now?

@summerhillgang congratulations as well! Beautiful little girls names! How you getting on?

So many girls 🀍🀍

I’m still pregnant πŸ˜‚ 39+5 and no signs at all. All the little pains etc gone. I did have a bad back for 2 days and thought it could be the start but I think I’d just done too much.
Been the midwife today and baby head is engaged so won’t be moving (hopefully) but it’s on the top of the scale (I think 5/5?) basically right at the top of my pelvis, still got a bit to go. I’ve come home and got straight on the ball, bouncing away!
Declined a sweep and going to give it another week when I’ll be coming up to 41 weeks!
I’m so Impatient playing this waiting game πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

How’s everyone else doing? Any more babies?

mooloop · 26/10/2021 13:40

@NW2021 don't worry I'm still pregnant too πŸ˜‚ 39+3 today. Head was 4/5 engaged on Thursday and I get occasional random pains that don't amount to anything - here's hoping our babies make their way out soon πŸ˜‚

Juicytoot287 · 26/10/2021 13:46

@NW2021 @Peacefulspirit Thanks ladies. We are officially home and discharged. Got lots to watch for and some repeat tests to go for but feels so good to be allowed home. The most difficult part is that you can't cuddle your baby under the lamp really and your partner cant be there a lot so isn't able to bond or help. So very glad to be home now with some help and our comforts - stitches are really sore haha.

Feels weird not talking about my midwife appts too like you both @mooloop , I should have been having a sweep tomorrow lol. Now I have a 4 day old baby girl πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

NW2021 · 26/10/2021 13:56

@mooloop I really hope so! I’m just so bored now. Have you discussed sweeps or anything? I think I’ll be having a Nov baby to be honest, I just can’t see it arriving anytime soon.

@Juicytoot287 glad to hear you’re home! Just being around comforts and not in hospital will be so nice for you.

mooloop · 26/10/2021 14:28

@Juicytoot287 fantastic that you've been discharged and can start settling in at home!

@NW2021 my midwife never mentioned sweeps at my last appointment. My next appointment isn't until next Thursday when I'll be 40+5, not sure if they'll offer one then but if they do I'll take it! I've always thought my LO would be a November baby, in my mind I'm working towards my induction date (11/11) and if he decides to come sooner that's a very welcome bonus πŸ˜‚

NW2021 · 26/10/2021 14:46

@mooloop I’m the same! I worked my dates to be 31st any way so thought it’s bound to be Nov! It’s just the not knowing that’s killing me πŸ˜‚ waking up each day thinking will they arrive today?!

She just went through options with me today and said I could book in for a sweep on Friday but I’d only just be 40 weeks so I thought I’ll give it another week and then it’ll be similar to you around 41 weeks so I’ll probs take up the sweep then see if it does anything!

mooloop · 26/10/2021 16:52

Fingers crossed @NW2021! I've just got back from a long walk hoping that shimmies baby down a bit further. Ended up much longer than I intended because I didn't want to disturb a full herd of cows stood right at the gate I needed to go through πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ Knackered now πŸ˜‚

summerhillgang · 27/10/2021 08:38

4 days with Emerald now! Milk has come in and we're cluster feeding... so from 5am till about midnight yesterday with very little breaks. Trying to sleep when she sleeps and managing 30 mins here and there. We've been attempting to put her down in the Snuz but she's not having it so think bed sharing is what we'll have to do for now to keep our sanity.

Here's my little one this morning x

mooloop · 27/10/2021 09:37

Awww @summerhillgang Emerald is just gorgeous 😍 cluster feeding must be tough! If bed sharing is what gets you all the most sleep then roll with it as safely as possible I say, it won't last forever!

Peacefulspirit · 27/10/2021 11:36

Hey guys. Me and the big kids all have Covid. It’s such a worrying time with Orla being so new but she seems ok at the minute, if a little snotty. It’s pretty bleak being ill and unable to get any fresh air. X

Hungryinthefridge · 27/10/2021 14:24

@summerhillgang bless her! Such a lovely name too. Share your pain re sleep. Not helped by the fact everyone's got covid/chest infections like @Peacefulspirit aside from me for some reason? Work in a hospital so maybe have a better immune system?

So Tammy keeps waking up all snotty and despises lying flat! Been using tweezers/my nails to get the bogies out lol. Can't stomach the idea of the snot sucker thing, tried to do it manually and nearly threw up 🀒

@Peacefulspirit hope you all feel better soon. It's pants staying in like you say. Makes the unreal dreamy feeling of new motherhood feel even stranger! Been binging shows on Amazon Prime to pass the time at night when I should be sleeping though! Can thoroughly recommend Nine Perfect Strangers. Read the book before and some parts are wildly different but it's quite similar and an interesting take on it. The character of Frances is exactly how I imagined her and it's great to see the relationships between everyone play out. Want to watch Big Little Lies too but think you have to pay extra?

Also watched two lovers with Jouquin Pheonix (very attractive in his heyday!) and Gwenneth Paltrow. Great story but I was mostly just perving tbh Grin. Watching The Angriest Man In Brooklyn with Robin Williams now. Hilarious.

How is everyone doing?

summerhillgang · 28/10/2021 00:05

@Peacefulspirit wishing you and your fam a speedy recovery! Hope Orla is doing well.

@Hungryinthefridge omg same obsession - removing bogies from a tiny nose. Emerald was super snotty for first few days and actually made it hard to feed but seems to have dispersed. The other thing I love doing is picked dry skin off her!

Update - I had my first post partum poo since last Friday, Christ. absolutely harrowing experience... made just about bearable by pressing down with a wet pad. Laxido was not cutting it so got on the lactolose today and it did the trick!

Anyone have any tips for soothing a boob obsessed baby with anything other than boob? I feel like she could just suck and suck all night with no let up right now.

Xx

Juicytoot287 · 28/10/2021 08:41

@summerhillgang we had to go for a dummy in the end. She likes to soothe with sucking it seems, sends herself to sleep on the bottle. However, I did have to buy MAM small ones as the teet was what she couldn't get on with. She is only 6lb 6oz so she needed a smaller flatter one. MAM mimic boob shape too so if you are open to them, they could help?

Slowly but surely feeling normal, until like 7pm then I am dead again. Have called doctor for a chat about some symptoms - TMI but diaherra for one and then also lower back and legs keep hurting or going numb. I assume lots to do with the epidural but best to check. So unfortunately I have the opposite issue to others with number twos!

How are you @mooloop and @NW2021 , finally nearly at or are at due dates! Today would have been mine, cannot imagine not having my baby girl outside in the world already now! Can't wait for to meet your LOs.

mooloop · 28/10/2021 09:10

@Juicytoot287 yeah due on Saturday for me! I just have a psychic feeling that I'll be getting induced although I really don't want to be waiting another fortnight πŸ₯΄

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/10/2021 11:21

Hey lovelies, just catching up with the thread between running this mad house πŸ₯΄

How are we all? Sounds like you new mamas are doing great, but jesus it is admittedly, hard work.

@summerhillgang
Emerald is beautiful! And oh my god that first post partum poo 😳 I thought it was worse than my childbirth frankly. I passed out on the toilet and whacked my head on the bath, haha!!

@Peacefulspirit Hope you and your family aren't suffering too much you poor sods πŸ˜” I had my first Covid jab a few weeks ago, thankfully no side effects from it either which suprised me.

@mooloop hope baby makes an appearance for you soon! 🀞

I've got an infection in my incision so had to call docs this morning and waiting for someone to call me back. I'm so annoyed as I've looked after it so well but I do think they made me remove the dressing far too early. I've also being doing way too much but what are you supposed to do? πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Macy is 9lb now so more than her birth weight finally. Think she's a little colicky though as we've had some major projectile voms after feeds so currently trying the old infacol so we'll see how that goes.

So nice to see these babas earthside now! What a journey eh ladies? Xx

@MyGrassIsBrowner oh wow that just made me emotional how bloody cute

mrssunshinexxx · 28/10/2021 14:14

@MyGrassIsBrowner erm the poo experience does not sound good! Feel for you with infection I just couldn't get rid of mine but my hosptial had me take dressing off after 8 hours whilst I was in the shower then nothing went back on it and I never questioned it but looking back that was crazy ?!

NW2021 · 28/10/2021 14:41

@Peacefulspirit hope you’re ok & Covid isn’t to bad for you all!

@Juicytoot287 due date today as well πŸ₯° no signs though! No pains what so ever. Been for a long walk this morning & I’ve come back to bed to watch a film. I’ve been none stop hungry yesterday and today! Don’t feel full at all, I dunno if that’s a sign πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

@mooloop I’ve been thinking about sweeps etc I think I’m just going to wait out the 2 weeks and if still no sign get induced. 2 weeks feels so far away! But I’m still feeling good just bored and want baby here! πŸ˜‚

@MyGrassIsBrowner that pic is so cute!

mrssunshinexxx · 28/10/2021 15:05

39 weeks tomorrow and having first sweep I hope it sets something off my husband home tonight from working away for the birth so hoping that will make my shoulders drop and this god awful headache disappear

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/10/2021 18:28

@mrssunshinexxx I took my dressing off the next evening on advice from the MW but personally I think I should have left it on a few days. All I suggest after birth is take plenty of laxatives! Dont leave yourself like I did... a whole week before I dared to go to the toilet. It's not good. Good luck with your sweep!

@NW2021
I dont know how you arent snapping the MW's hand off for a sweep lol!!! I went overdue by 6 days and that was enough for me πŸ˜† hope bubs makes and appearance soon though! X

OP posts:
NW2021 · 28/10/2021 18:37

@MyGrassIsBrowner I need to get some laxatives in! I don’t fancy a whole week waiting πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚
I know πŸ˜‚ I’m doing ok at the moment though to be honest & everyone I know who had a sweep said it was pointless didn’t do anything. I know it works for some women though, I think if maybe further over due it helps get things going.
I might consider it next week, but rather just wait & bloody hope this baby comes soon!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/10/2021 18:44

@NW2021 I recommend Laxido sachets or a bottle or two of lactulose! Or even better glycerine suppositories if you're brave enough haha!
I get it with the sweeps, I had two with my first and the 2nd one kicked it off but I had an experienced midwife who really went to town on me. They will examine you though and generally if you're 1-2cm the success rate of a sweep is slightly higher. Personally I found them a breeze pain wise, it's uncomfortable but I've had worse smears.
Sex is the best thing though!

We've had MIL and FIL visit today, a little bit soon for my comfort levels but she was v late and can understand the keenness. Was sunny and walked down the peer. Got lots of very girly clothes presents (was trying to keep things gender neutral but I'm rolling with pink haha).

Ems did her first poonami! So proud. We washed her in a bucket. Midwife asked if it's English or French mustard, not sure what is good/bad!?!

Midwife recommend a crainioscapal osteopath for baby as she came out at a funny angle and I feel like she has some tension in her neck. So going to an appointment on Monday for that. Supposed to help with colic and get them settling better.

@Juicytoot287 trying to hold out for the dummy but I am sure I'll buckle. Defo not ruling out. I got some of those nipple-like bottles too, they look great, defo going to be expressing once feeding is more established, and partner can settle baby. I am sure he'd love to be able to feed her, right now all he can do is rock her - but does pretty well with that tbf.

@MyGrassIsBrowner bloody hell, you passed out? That's horrible. Yeah it wasn't great. For those mums to be, get on laxatives at the earliest possible opportunity and don't leave it like I did (5 days post partum). So sorry about your infection, it's crazy they make you take the bandage off when they do. Really recommend taking arnica for anyone post partum, really helps. I also got my placenta encapsulated and not sure if it's placebo but my mood is great from taking those. Macy's growing really well! Ems was 7% down 4 days post partum, hoping she puts on some weight in, she's quite skinny.

@NW2021 I ended up having two sweeps - one at 41+5 and another 42+2, and they defo got stuff moving at that stage, I think it's prob pointless unless you're having some other signs and cervix is moving in right direction. The best thing I did was just switch off from everything and everyone, and just watched funny/wacky comedy films / feel good films and got myself laughing. The homeopathy remember Caulophyllum also might have helped my cervix ripen, took 30c three times a day. The second round of acupuncture at 42 weeks defo got stuff moving for me - she put needles everywhere and tweaked them hard. Good times! So happy labour came on naturally, think it pays off with getting feeding established as hormones are all doing the right things. All I can say is try not to get super sad like I did, my cervix didn't progress well then, stay happy/upbeat/positive and things will happen.

Xx

NW2021 · 28/10/2021 19:08

@MyGrassIsBrowner added to the shopping list! That’s one thing I haven’t got in. I can always ask my mum to go get me some.

Sex tonight it is!! & hopefully it’ll get things going.
