Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

I'm still watching the thread because I cant wait to start seeing some new arrivals ❀

Been for growth scan and very little growth in the last 2 weeks so booked for induction tomorrow. I’m gutted. Means no pool and continuous monitoring. I am debating changing my mind. It’s not the birth I want. However, I also understand the potential risks. Just needed a place to tell someone. I’ve had a sweep and getting some more back ache etc. Going to go for a massive walk and hope that something spontaneous happens today. 😭

MeadowHay · 07/10/2021 14:25

Gorgeous photos @MyGrassIsBrowner glad you're all doing well at home Smile.

@Peacefulspirit oh no that must be such a shock Sad and difficult decisions to make. I hope whatever decision you make you can make peace with it. I hope you have as straightforward and calm a birth as possible even if it won't necessarily look exactly as you'd hoped Flowers. A similar sort of thing happened to me with my first just without the induction and it is a shock and disappointing, I feel for you.

I've been researching sweeps and I think I've changed my mind and won't have one tomorrow after all. The NICE guidelines say only to offer multiparous women one at the 41w appt and though the risk of waters breaking is very low, that would be shite to end up with an early induction if that did happen. So I'm going to leave it and hope I go into labour spontaneously before next Fri and if not I will have one at that appt.

Juicytoot287 · 07/10/2021 14:39

@Peacefulspirit That must be very disappointing. Do all the tricks in the book to make that baby come naturally lol. You have to make the best decision for you and baby but I don't envy you. If you do go down induction, you are allowed to feel upset and annoyed too which is important!

NW2021 · 07/10/2021 14:58

@Peacefulspirit hope you’re feeling better and more positive lovely 🀍 I do understand, I’m not feeling great either but I think I’m just tired and a bit emotional.
Finished for maternity now (2 weeks annual leave) it’s all starting to feel very real! πŸ˜‚
I hope the long walk has helped and it’s kick started thing for you!

@MyGrassIsBrowner lovely photos 🀍

@MeadowHay I think I’d do the same. If I go over I’m just going to wait till 41/42 weeks and if baby isn’t here assess what options.

I think my braxton hicks have rammed up, I’m defo getting period type pains but there not strong and go as soon as I move but I keep panicking thinking it’s starting πŸ˜‚

mooloop · 07/10/2021 16:55

@MyGrassIsBrowner gorgeous photos! I hope you're enjoying family time at home 😍

@Peacefulspirit oh bless you that's not what you needed to hear Sad if it helps at all I do know several women who have had positive induction experiences if you do have to go down that route.

I saw my midwife this morning and she thinks baby is back to back, he was the other way round at the scan on Monday! Is it normal for them to switch between the two? Confused here's hoping he spins again!

Peacefulspirit · 07/10/2021 18:38

Thanks gorgeous lot. I just find it a bit hard to swallow that after 4 spontaneous labours, 3 beautiful home water births I’m going to be going down this route. As I keep saying to my partner, I will get to a place of acceptance, just maybe not tonight 😝
@mooloop totally normal for head spins, they rarely stay back to back unless there’s a physiological reason, ie shape of your pelvis. Lots of ball bouncing, cat/cow if you do yoga. X

mooloop · 07/10/2021 19:16

@Peacefulspirit totally valid to feel disappointed, and to let yourself have those feelings! Hopefully since you've had good experiences previously your body would react well to an induction, since it knows what to do Grin

Thank you RE: the spinning - I'm on the ball a lot and quite like cat/cow to help my back pain, so I'll carry on! I have a feeling I'll go well past my due date anyway (only 36+5 today) so in my logical brain I know he has plenty of time to get himself where he needs to be!

summerhillgang · 07/10/2021 21:16

Wow she's amazing @MyGrassIsBrowner - perfect little baby ❀️ hope you're recovering nicely, are you back at home now?

@Peacefulspirit so sorry that plans may be changing. No advice other than follow your instincts. Would you consider the balloon induction maybe, or could you do prostaglandin tampon at home, and see what happens with that?

No news from me sadly. I am 40+2 now. Had some quite intense cramps last night (but was able to sleep through), and had lost more blood tinged plug this morning. Midwife seems positive that cervix is doing what it needs to do to prepare for baby. I did get a bit excited on Tuesday when I had acupuncture, and felt the baby moving even further down when I had all the needles in me - very strange sensation.

This is honestly the weirdest time of my life, not knowing when it's going to happen and how it will play out, and doing everything I can to get things going. I've been off work for ages and DH is still on video calls most the day wfh, I really wish he could have some time off for 'oxytocin' days! Already got friends, family and even my cleaner are texting me to see what's going on lol - I saw a neighbor dog walking and almost felt embarrassed that I'm still pregnant. It feels like forever.

Got some more cramps starting now (or do I just need a poo?) and have reflexology tomorrow morning so wish me luck πŸ€ xx

Juicytoot287 · 07/10/2021 21:36

how exciting all the labours are soon! I am 37 weeks so officially at the any day now mark but also very aware rhey often come late and she is not engaged - however she is head down!
Now to keep an eye out for all those tell tale signs

Hungryinthefridge · 08/10/2021 04:15

My waters went at midnight on 7th so waited it out at home for 24 hours then came in tonight. Contractions ramping up but not enough for the birth centre sadly (due to infection risk of water going they said to go to antental). Had a pessary at just gone half 1 and then may go on the drip at half 7 this morning if they're not close together/long enough. You can get in the bath here apparently so may do that but have a bit of blood in my waters so a bit worried. The midwife said to show her the next pad if it's bloody again.

Well fed up and tired and feeling like I'm not coping well. Tried to sleep and need it but much prefer to keep upright and distracted with food, phone and music!

How is everyone? Lovely to see pictures of new babies 🀩

Juicytoot287 · 08/10/2021 06:30

@Hungryinthefridge Oh it is all happening! Good luck, you got this! I hope you are progressing well and / or managed some rest xx

summerhillgang · 08/10/2021 06:53

@Hungryinthefridge I think a bit of blood is ok, it's prob cervical right from dilation? defo get in the bath, it'll be great pain relief and things are supposed to really ramp up when you do.
keep us updated (when you can!) - sounds like you'll meet your lovely little baby very soon! Xx

Ps my cramps ramped up so getting in the bath to see what happens!

Hungryinthefridge · 08/10/2021 07:31

@Juicytoot287 thanks sweet πŸ™‚the contractions too much to rest properly. Am waiting to be sent to the labour ward and will request an epidural on arrival!

@summerhillgang It happened after she checked me and put the pessary in, but she looked at the pad and said it's normal. So have been reassured. Too late for the bath now because I was resting instead but had a lovely long one (hehee) before coming to hospital so don't mind now. Am at peace with it all and just want an epidural, sleep and then to wake up and meet her. Hope your bath helps. Nothing like a good wallow 😊

MeadowHay · 08/10/2021 08:41

Ah good luck @Hungryinthefridge ! Hope you can get your epidural sorted asap so you can have some rest. Not long now for you before you will be with your beautiful baby! Hope it all goes well x

@summerhillgang oooh good luck to you too maybe you are on your way as well!

I can't believe I'm past my due date with no baby, not been in this position before and was convinced this one would come earlier than DD! I feel blindsided and dunno what to do with myself! Also very fed up that am still having to struggle looking after DD at this huge size and gestation until God knows when grrr. Midwife coming later today.

tikoli · 09/10/2021 12:41

Hi all. I've just been reading along so far. I'm 38+4 today and have been plenty of painless,
regular contractions (every 8-10mins for several hours), sometimes with stabbing pain down below and then stopping most days over the last week. Nothing progressing beyond that though.
Oh the wait is so hard! So lovely to see the first babies arriving. I just cannot wait for it to be my turn too Smile

bfp2 · 09/10/2021 13:31

Anyone else having an elective on 25th?....I know its only around the corner, but I do wish it was yesterday. Just want my baby here now.

Star0404 · 09/10/2021 13:40

I’m being induced on the 25th Smile really hoping I have baby before then though. My midwife is going to try the sweep at my appointment next week and I really hope that starts something!

summerhillgang · 09/10/2021 16:17

40+4 and going stir crazy over here! Had a long walk today, surprised how bloody mobile I still feel tbh. Some horrible dog tried to go for my dog in the park and I lept into psycho mother mode.
Got myself some raspberry leaf extract now so maximising the dose three times a day.
Super hot curry last night.
Nada.

Honestly, I know it's just the hormones, but I feel really mental. Proper anxious time, literally everyone is pissing me off and I feel like a total mega bitch.
Had some quite painful cramps last night, always seems to be around 4/5am then dies off. But increasing in intensity day by day xx

Juicytoot287 · 09/10/2021 16:17

Hello everyone!

So I am now pretty sure I have PGP thought I had avoided it arggh. But i can manage at the moment so will just take it a bit easier. Wanted to get the last few bits set up today and we have to now I will just rest up etc. @MyGrassIsBrowner Hope you are loving the bubble. Can i ask if your PGP is clearing now baby is out or is it hard to tell with the pain meds?

so exciting hearing all your signs, I am still just 37 weeks and a bit so nothing over here and baby not engaged yet. @mooloop when you had your presentation scan, was the baby engaged or just head down? Mine was just head down, not sure that means much but I doubt they will be evicting anytime soon haha.

@Peacefulspirit How was the induction? Hope you are all ok!

Welcome @tikoli That is exciting but also a bit frustrating. Hopefully it ramps up soon and baby comes! Keep us updated how you get on, I have had nothing to suggest she wants out yet lol

Peacefulspirit · 09/10/2021 16:24

Well that was an experience!! Orla Wren arrived at 00.28am this morning following induction. She was OP (serves me right for saying they always spin @mooloop!! However, we managed to get discharged straight from delivery suite so got home by 7am this morning. She’s breastfed like wild thing and is a poppet. Good luck everyone. It will be beautiful and amazing no matter how or when it happens. X

summerhillgang · 09/10/2021 17:20

@Peacefulspirit oh wow congrats - love the name πŸ₯° another little girl ✨✨

Amazing she is feeding well already.

How did the induction go? Xx

Juicytoot287 · 09/10/2021 18:05

@Peacefulspirit Amazing! You must have done brilliant. And how efficient, in and out the hospital haha. Enjoy your newborn bubble and hopefully hear from you soon once you are settled in and more babies start arriving xx

NW2021 · 09/10/2021 18:24

@Peacefulspirit congratulations!! Love the name πŸ’•

@summerhillgang I thought it was just me being tired but I feel exactly the same! Everyone is pissing me off πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ I feel so bad being in such a mood but I feel like I just want to be alone and chill. Everything and everyone is annoying me!

@Juicytoot287 I’m interested to know if baby is engaged as well, I’ve got a midwife appointment this week so hoping they’ll be able to tell me!
I’m going to start on the raspberry tea this week & hope it helps!

mooloop · 09/10/2021 18:24

Awww amazing @Peacefulspirit congratulations!! Lovely name, Wren was on my list for a girl οΏΌ was back to back labour as bad as I've read?!

@Juicytoot287 my baby was head down but not engaged too - I figure he's got a good few weeks yet to get to where he needs to be, so fingers crossed!
