Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

@summerhillgang glad you’re feeling good! Can I ask what company you got the placenta encapsulated with? Was it expensive? Seen people talk about it years ago but didn’t know if it actually worked or any benefits from if. Sounds like there might be though!
I think like you said if I was to have a sweep I’d wait till I’m closer to 42 weeks hopefully then it would work better! Hoping baby will be here before then though πŸ˜‚πŸ€žπŸ»
I’ve been in bed since 2pm πŸ™ˆ watching films and sleeping. I plan to do the same tomorrow then I’ve got a day with family on Saturday which I’m looking forward to. Hopefully lots of happy hormones will be high πŸ₯°

margerina · 28/10/2021 21:10

I'm with you @NW2021. I've had 3 sweeps (41+2 today) and I'm 2-3cm today, I was 1cm two days ago at the last sweep. Still nothing. I don't think it does anything to be honest. I'm waiting to be induced at this stage. I've got an appointment in a few days (they're full for a few days and won't induce anyone they said), unless of course it happens naturally beforehand. I'm totally fed up now. I just want to be done.

Juicytoot287 · 28/10/2021 21:29

These weights are crazy. Emmie dropped from 6lb 8 to 6lb 5 and is slowly going up but she really doesn't feed too well. She feeds, but just does not drink much at all. It isnt like she is crying or agitated either - she is a dream! Will just keep going and hope she continues to out weight on, if only slowly haha. Wish I could weigh her everyday though to see haha. How often are bottle feeding mums feeding?
I am still on every 3 hours due to her health issues at the start.

Cannot believe October is nearly over. Are we starting a chat on the other forum for the babies for when they all arrive? As a FTM i would love to keep having this to vent, chat and support eachother

summerhillgang · 28/10/2021 22:28

@NW2021 just a local lady who my midwife recommended. It's easy and fairly cheap to do so thought why not. Recovering and healing well, and milk supply is good so thinking that might be playing a part but likewise I have nothing to compare it to. Taking each day as it comes but so far so good xx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 29/10/2021 01:02

@summerhillgang yep, totally conked out on the toilet. I was too scared to push and getting in my own head about it, started sweating and next minute I wake up on the floor with my DP dabbing my head with a freezing cold flannel πŸ˜‚ I howl at it looking back. But in my defence, nobody told me about taking laxatives or how horrific the first post partum poo can be if you be a div like me and dont go for days on end πŸ˜†

@Juicytoot287 determining how much to feed them with bottle is so difficult those first few weeks! Macy dropped around 7% of her weight in the first week, she was 8lb 14oz at birth, it's been three weeks now and she's only just got to 9lb today. Partly frustrated but the jaundice did not help in those first two weeks at all. She sleeps so much too.. like 5 and 6 hour stints so we do have to wake her for feeds.
In that first week we were told to feed her every 2-3 hours, but she was then projectile vomiting and screaming in pain so I called another midwife who said who the hell has told you to feed that often? I said, one of your bloody colleagues! She said I should be feeding every four hours instead πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
Honestly I was glad to be finally discharged from the midwives I was so sick of being told different things by different midwives at every visit πŸ₯΄

@MyGrassIsBrowner I would love one so yes please!

Oh and I second that sentiment. Baby girl has Jaundice eithin 24 hours so was on the UV lamp meaning no cuddles with my newborn baby - heart breaking to say the least. But now means I am being told to feed her every 3 hours but she just doesnt have a great appetite. Obviously she is much better now that it has cleared up but by no means a guzzler. We have to wake her for feeds as she isnt a crier either. Safe to say we are exhausted but would rather know she is fed enough and can gain weight at this stage to be honest.

When will they next weigh them? I had her weighed day 5

mrssunshinexxx · 29/10/2021 07:58

@margerina I'm having my first sweep this morn i will be jumping for bloody joy if I'm anything dilated it was torture just getting to 3/4cm with a back to back baby last time 26 bloody hours

margerina · 29/10/2021 08:43

Oh good luck @mrssunshinexxx!
I have been having rather painful /take-your-breath-away type contractions since 3am but timings differ between 6-12mins. They're just not regular and consistent enough, though I'm at nearly a minute each time.
As it's my second baby, I do wonder whether I need to wait to 3 contractions in 10mins, especially when I was already at 3cm. I'll see how the next hour goes I guess and then give them a call

mooloop · 29/10/2021 09:40

Morning ladies!

Good luck @margerina that sounds really promising! And good luck with your sweep @mrssunshinexxx

@MyGrassIsBrowner a new thread would be brilliant if you don't mind! I could do with having a place to continue moaning whilst I'm STILL pregnant haha Halo

I've been having period type pains on and off for a couple of days now and I think part of my plug has started to come away. I know both of these things don't mean labour is imminent thought so just trying to bumble on through the days, really need to do some housework but I have no motivation at all πŸ˜‘

MyGrassIsBrowner · 29/10/2021 10:36

@Juicytoot287 it's really bloody hard work love so I feel you and totally understand. Macy is the same though, not much of a crier and doesn't wake herself for a feed which can be a bit worrying when the day passes by and I suddenly think, shit, when did she last feed? πŸ˜‚ the days pass quickly when you're running around after a toddler as well haha.

I was discharged by the midwives at around day 14ish this time but the HV weighs them and you can ask them to come back whenever if you want reassurance or for them to be weighed again. My HV has been three times already which has shocked me. But think it's because I told them my concerns about the jaundice as it was really affecting me mentally.

Good luck with your sweep @mrssunshinexxx
Really hope it gets things started for you!! 🀞

@margerina
I just remember being told to call when the contractions were literally toe curling and paracetemol wasn't taking the edge off when I had my first born. I had a section this time so I'm afraid I can't advise haha! I would say though, regardless of the timings, if they are super painful then no harm in giving delivery suite a call and leave them to advise you.

Right I'll make another thread lovelies! Bare with me! πŸ˜„

@MyGrassIsBrowner yes please! That would be great.

@margerina good luck! That does sound like you’re on your way! Especially if you were already 2-3cm!! Let us know how you get on.

@mrssunshinexxx good luck with your sweep today!! I hope it does something and starts you off. 🀞🏻

@mooloop that’s some good signs!! I wish I had them πŸ˜‚ never wanted period pains more than I do now πŸ˜‚ I’ve been noticing a little more discharge so maybe cervix softening? But the amounts aren’t anything like what I imagine the mucus plug should be. I think I’ve still got a while to go, just doesn’t feel like my body is ready, but this is my first so I actually have no idea πŸ˜‚

mrssunshinexxx · 29/10/2021 11:39

Sweep was fine cervix open and v soft at the bottom but still slightly closed at the top she said it was positive how soft and open it was for my gestation 39 w got another on wed if nothing happens before then she told me to have sex that's best chance of getting things going I just dunno if I can be arsed I know that sounds awful

MyGrassIsBrowner · 29/10/2021 12:00

@mrssunshinexxx well that's pretty positive though and you're heading in the right direction at least! I would definitely say sex if you can face it, though I know my DP would have gotten a slap if he'd come anywhere near me at 39 weeks pregnant this time round πŸ˜‚

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 29/10/2021 12:31

@margerina worth a phone call i suspect. I know I was induced but all the way to fully dilated, my contractions never got much closer together despite going into active labour so it is worth checking as they just got longer and painful but not closer. They were irregular until she popped out (sometimes 2 mins sometimes 4)

@MyGrassIsBrowner Thank you, will go join the thread now! And that is good. HV isn't coming until 2 weeks so next thursday but i will ask i think. Being a hugh risk baby in the hospital sets you up to be on edge when you leave the hospital i suppose which isn't nice and it isnt rassuring when they dont bloody eat well πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ will stick to every 3 hours until she is weighed 🀞🏻

mrssunshinexxx · 29/10/2021 14:50

Thanks @MyGrassIsBrowner we have just DTD too can you tell o want her out πŸ˜„ I have the most painful piles tho I am terrified about what's going to happen to them after birth if I manage it and scared of tearing too

MyGrassIsBrowner · 29/10/2021 16:59

@Juicytoot287 definitely worth asking your HV if she can come sooner, esp if you want some immediate advice!

Well I said I didn't have a crier... I jinxed myself apparently. Macy has cried now 3 hours, I've tried everything, feed, tummy massage, changed nappy, rocked, walked about. I'm losing the will now!

@mrssunshinexxx I've got piles too thanks to childbirth! They tend to flare up when I'm insanely constipated, bloody horrible things and there's buggar all you can do for them just gotta ride the pain out 😭
Hopefully that sperm will get to work! πŸ˜†

OP posts:
mrssunshinexxx · 29/10/2021 18:15

@MyGrassIsBrowner they hurt so bad I'm scared for afterbirth if I manage that part I am booked in for surgery on mine in January oh the glamour

margerina · 30/10/2021 06:58

We've made it! I thankfully went in when contractions were between 5-7min but much more painful than before. Baby was born less than two hours after we arrived and I was already 6-7cm at that point. Just like you @Juicytoot287, the contractions didn't get closer until the very end
Absolutely besotted. Smile

MyGrassIsBrowner · 30/10/2021 08:31

@margerina omg congratulations!!! πŸ’–

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 30/10/2021 09:52

@margerina oh Congrats! So happy for you, glaf you went in anyway. They really don't say that this can happen with contractions so ut is so tricky but you havet to trust you know your body is getting there quick!

NW2021 · 30/10/2021 10:24

@margerina amazing news!!! As a FTM it’s so good to hear these stories because you read all the books and they say closer together etc etc but it can be so different!
