Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

@Anynamenottakenplease Hey lovely how are you doing?

Wow you trooper for working right up until your section! I'd be a constant nervous wreck, lol!
I too am worried about how late my section is booked in for (39+4 for me) I went over with my DD but I am the unluckiest person in the world and it honestly wouldn't suprise me if I went into labour beforehand so I'm praying she'll stay put. I'm fairly sure if she's measuring a good size and is doing well surely they could bring it forward, especially if your being watched for pre-term labour!

I've had issues with growth, according to fundal height measurements. I'm booked in on the 13th for a scan but I'm bloody massive and I cant understand why they think for one second she's a small baby. My DD was 8lb 6oz.

What date is your section booked in for?

OP posts:
Anynamenottakenplease · 04/09/2021 13:39

@MyGrassIsBrowner my c section is booked for 5th October so not long now. I have to keep working really as maternity pay wouldn’t even pay half of our bills. I’m doing quite well for the most part thank you but am getting painful BH sometimes. I’m sorry to see you’ve been suffering this time round with pain. Pregnancy is never simple is it?!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 04/09/2021 13:55

@Anynamenottakenplease I'm booked in for the 4th! Really not long now. Oh it's such a bummer that you cant have finished sooner. I take my hat off to you though, I'm struggling enough just being at home with my DD let alone thinking of work.
I get really painful BH too, generally on an evening for some reason.
Oh it's never simple, though I'd kill for my first pregnancy again, it was a breeze. This time has been polar opposite!
Do you know what you're having this time?

Well my bump has dropped!! I literally looked in the mirror this morning after I'd put a t shirt on and was like Shock what?!? In my first pregnancy I never really noticed it but this time it's dramatic it's a completely different place than before all of a sudden! I have also had less heartburn and less breathlessness over the last few days too which makes sense. The down side is I'm getting sooo much 'lightening crotch' which is SO painful, I did have it sometimes with my first but definitely not this frequently! I also need to pee even more than usual and sometimes it feels like the baby is so low it's difficult to walk comfortably which I never had with my first. Was not expecting this with my second as I'd read they usually don't engage until you're in labour with subsequent pregnancies, so now I'm panicking this means they won't be too much longer and we aren't ready at all argh!!

summerhillgang · 04/09/2021 14:22

@Anynamenottakenplease I'm due 5 October!

@MeadowHay this is exactly what I have! Definitely less breathlessness and less heartburn too. It's my first so I don't have anything to compare it to but I am sure this is 'engaging'. I am walking like John Wayne and when I do yoga I can feel something is there, so strange. No BH though, the fact I don't know what they are makes me think I've not had them. I got 10 days left to go until I can have my homebirth so I am praying this doesn't mean labour is imminent. I'm just on a constant nesting mission too. Are you feeling the same?

MeadowHay · 04/09/2021 15:04

Babies usually engage earlier in a first pregnancy, and mine did, but I didn't actually have any 'symptoms' of it except for lightening crotch, but I didn't get it anywhere near as much as I am this time. I've never had Braxton Hicks to my knowledge, not in this or my last pregnancy. Nesting - not really as just don't have the time Blush. We have some of DH's family coming over soon and will be lucky to tidy DD's toys up and clean the bathroom before they get here nevermind sorting baby stuff lol. Also this baby doesn't actually have a bedroom of their own and we aren't planning to sort them one until next summer tbh when we will move DD to our current guest bedroom and then baby can have her current room.

summerhillgang · 04/09/2021 17:48

@MeadowHay yes we don't have a nursery either. We're having the cot in our bedroom, DH is having a spare room to sleep in if he's needing to get some sleep, and it's the same room where I am keeping all baby stuff. I'm toying between co-sleeping / bed sharing, just seeing how it all pans out with breast feeding.

Juicytoot287 · 05/09/2021 10:50

@Anynamenottakenplease Hello! I am a secondary school teacher too. How are you finding it all and are you still teaching? I am covered now due to the timings so wont be teaching and am considering taking leave at 39 weeks, but maybe I am mad. If i do that I could use my due date in half term and bank some extra cash if she is late but not sure πŸ™ˆ At the moment I am ok, very much a neat bump with little impacrs besides my back ache but I am working from home most of the week and only going in where needed so hopefully not an issue?

Thanks for the support ladies. I have to say for so long I watched threads without commenting but actually this helps so much havent people in the same boat and time frame to speak to! Feel very relieved after that growth scan and just amazoned a birthing ball to try encourage her to move her ass! Saw the MLU and it looks like a spa as its recently refurbed so definitely would want that, she need to get herself head down by 36 i am tell you!!!

Some warmer weather this week too, any nice plans? Might use this as a chance to meet up outside and socialise before baby personally.

Anynamenottakenplease · 05/09/2021 12:40

@Juicytoot287 I’m still doing some f2f but less than normal. May ask to wfh 10 days before c section date to hopefully avoiding catching covid close to due date. Last time I worked up to 38+3 and she ended up being 2 weeks late so actually wished I had stayed longer for financial reasons as I get bored easily at home so didn’t enjoy the β€˜rest’. Having said that, give yourself the time off if you need/want it. I think you can go off with no warning past 36 weeks anyway?

Anynamenottakenplease · 05/09/2021 12:42

@MyGrassIsBrowner we haven’t found out what we are having and didn’t find out last time although I’m absolutely certain it’s another girl despite having a totally different pregnancy to last time. I really don’t mind what the sex is but we have all the clothes saved from my daughter so that will be much cheaper Grin

messybun101 · 05/09/2021 13:12

Hi ladies! Just found this thread. I'm due 11th October with our first baba

I picked up crutches from the physio on Thursday. PGP has been so bad I've dropped to the floor in the shops and outside a few times now. I'm hypermobile too and my hips are literally swinging around unconnected

However, I'm absolutely loving being pregnant. Despite the maaaany complaints I've made throughout, I'm really going to miss feeling our little boy whooshing around in there

Is anyone's nursery done? I've been rescheduled by my decorator twice. He's now changed the date to start on Monday so here's hoping. I want to order our furniture but can't until the walls are all done. I'm trying to do all this myself as DP is offshore until next week πŸ₯±

MyGrassIsBrowner · 05/09/2021 15:23

@Anynamenottakenplease I kept having dreams we were having another girl and sure as anything we are! I had the same dreams about my DD too, I had recurring dreams she was blonde hair blue eyed and sure as anything, she is πŸ˜‚ considering both me and my DP are both brown hair, brown eyes, it's total madness! I'm in awe at people who wait to find out the sex, I couldn't do it myself.. far too impatient! πŸ™ˆ

@messybun101
Hey hun! Jesus christ I feel for you. I could do with a pair of crutches around the house tbh. I feel you though PGP is horrific.
So jealous of you ladies sorting your nurseries! Baby will be co-sleeping with me for a fair while as I'm giving it a good go with the breast feeding this time.

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 05/09/2021 16:11

@Anynamenottakenplease Oh fair play to you. The union advice was to not and to wfh and I have to say I feel better knowing i can and not be at risk. That being said, I can do some 1 to 1 sessions and intervention off my own back if I wish which I think I will for GCSE and A Level classes as I can distance and stay safe that way. I am also the same, need something to do to keep busy so will probably push it back to make the most of pay during the half term! Will email HR tomorrow.

@messybun101 Hiya! My nursery is half done, just waiting on a cot delivery and then need to build and set up bits which are all stored at my mums for luck.. not sure when to bring them over and get ready?!

This PGP sounds dreadful for you ladies - I feel very lucky to not have this (touch wood).

MeadowHay · 05/09/2021 18:01

My PGP was alright earlier in the day but the last hour or so has got so bad I can barely walk all of a sudden ffs Angry. Have demanded DH give me a massage this evening!! Grin

@MyGrassIsBrowner yes we aren't having a nursery either. As the plan for us is baby in with us for the foreseeable and then when they're ready for their own room they will take DD's current bedroom and she will move into our current guest bedroom. Am anticipating moving DD into that room next summer and then the baby either around the same time or possibly later. DD started napping in her bedroom at 12 months ish to get used to it and then moved into the room about 15/16m so anticipating a similar sort of timeline with this one. Unless they're a terrible sleeper then may keep them in with us even longer, for me it's just about not making our lives any harder than they need to be, just can't be arsed going in and out of a different room loads of times a night, we are too lazy Blush Grin.

The isofix base for the car seat arrived today so one more thing crossed off the list.

@messybun101 welcome! Sorry about your PGP, I have it too but not as bad as you. I bloody hate being pregnant though!!

@Anynamenottakenplease we also haven't found out the sex and also confident it will be another girl. If it's a boy we will be in shock!!

summerhillgang · 05/09/2021 18:04

@MyGrassIsBrowner sounds like you're psychic! I am so eager to find out who's in there now. Can't say I've had many dreams, I think I've dreamt it's a girl and boy. I really thought it was a girl early on but now it kind of feels like I am talking to a boy. I do feel a bit guilty calling it 'IT' the whole time, that's prob the main downside of a surprise.

@messybun101 welcome! I am due 5 October with our first one too. Sorry to hear about your PGP 😞 do you know if it's the baby's position causing it? I am generally loving being pregnant too, despite all the different stresses you come across along the way. Just feels nice to have a fresh new focus, and tried so long to conceive too. Can't believe it's almost over!

Today we blew up the birthing pool as a test run, and sorted out the tap/hose connector, not immediately obvious when we have a very old 70s bathroom suite. DH worked it out though. So we're pretty much set for our homebirth apart from a few extra bits I need to buy - a heater, some cheap bath mats and some strips to fix up the fairy lights. Just need to get through the next 9 days and get to 37 weeks without any setbacks or labour coming on early! Feeling a bit nervous about my midwife appointment on Tuesday, where I'll get my BP taken again and I really just want it to be back to normal. Not had any PE symptoms so I am sure I am fine, and I've cleaned up my eating in the last week, been swimming and had a relatively stress free time.

I'm getting proper paranoid about movements and keeping track of them, I have an anterior placenta so don't feel everything. Think I am driving myself a bit mad. Also getting bum daggers as well as fanny daggers now πŸ—‘

Xx

messybun101 · 05/09/2021 20:01

I cried to my mum last week that I had now realised pregnant women waddle because they're in pain. I hadn't realised that before now. I naively thought all these ladies were walking side-to-side because of the weight pulling them forward. I didn't know it was because they're sore. I feel so bad for all us past and present PGP sufferers πŸ˜‚
And total jealousy towards those that don't @Juicytoot287 - aww great you don't have it! Here's hoping it isn't a late starter for you and you sail through 😁 yes, when is it not unlucky to bring the pram home? My travel system is at my mums and even though I'm not superstitious I still don't want to jinx it lol!

@MyGrassIsBrowner I've got a Next2Me so I can breastfeed and co-sleep too. My family have all given me a οΏΌ look when I've said I'm BFing...They all bottle fed. It seems silly doing the nursery now when he'll be with us but my nesting has just gone bonkers. I don't have my bag packed yet but I've got wallpaper and a decorator booked for a room that won't be used for 6-12 months lol! Seems pretty silly now I'm writing it down!

@summerhillgang oh god it's everything. My joints are a bit meh with the hypermobility anyway then baby went head down and it's been worse ever since. Throughout, I've got slimmer and put all weight to my front so my posture is buggered too. They reckon he's about 5lbs, I think more!

Juicytoot287 · 06/09/2021 07:38

Oh my, couldn't imagine having it all set up at home - that must make it feel all too real! I have a my birthing ball coming today and that feels a bit real for me as it is πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ.
Preparing for a couple of hot days coming up too! Got my mini suitcase out the loft to pack my hospital bag too. DP thinks its OTT but i just said it is the same size as carry on, but the wheels will make everything easier not having another thing to carry.

How are the PGP ladies this morning? Any better I hope!

cannot believe this is the last month before birth month, very excited to meet her now

MyGrassIsBrowner · 06/09/2021 09:40

@MeadowHay That's pretty much what we're doing! DD has her own room but we'll be renovating the guest bedroom into her room, probably sometime next year as I can't even be arsed to think about that just yet. For now we're just going to sleep anyway that gives us a quiet life. DD is such a good sleeper (just like her parents she LOVES sleep lol) my main priority is not disturbing her sleep routine.

@messybun101 I think it's great you're wanting to try breastfeeding. Honestly though, you'd get the same reaction if you told people you were going straight onto formula. People are always going to have their opinions but you do you!
I only breast fed with my DD for about two weeks, she was a milk monster and not getting enough from me. In my defence I'd had no guidance on BF and didn't really know what I was doing.
This time though I intend to speak to the midwives and lactation consultants at the hospital and get as clued up as I can before I'm discharged.

Well I had a total meltdown this morning, full on ugly crying before DP left for work. My feet and legs are the size of tree trunks now, all swollen and tight. I have tiny fingers normally (my engagement ring is a size i) that's now had to come off cause it no longer fits on my hands which are swollen too. I've got one blocked nostril and my PGP is playing up. Too scared to take anymore codeine as it made me go abit woo the other day and feeling sick so now I'm like.. maybe I'll just stick to paracetemol for now. Argh.

I'm really not looking forward to this supposed heatwave, I've become really sensitive to the sun since having my DD and being pregnant is just another nail in the coffin. Got my tower fan at the ready 😩

OP posts:
mooloop · 06/09/2021 11:17

Awww @MyGrassIsBrowner it sounds like you're having a right time of it Sad not too much longer for you now thankfully.

It's so dark and grey here today I can't believe there's a supposed heatwave coming! Not looking forward to that.

I have 4 more Mondays after today to get through before finishing for mat leave, trying to keep that in mind to carry on plugging along at work. Not that I'm counting down the days or anything WinkGrin

MyGrassIsBrowner · 06/09/2021 11:24

@mooloop I really am and feeling incredibly sorry for myself 😩 this pregnancy couldn't be any different from my pregnancy with my DD if it tried. And on top of having to run around after my DD it's been a really reallly hard slog. I just feel ill with it now, it's not enjoyable at all.
I've got an indepth scan on the 13th so slightly anxious about that as I'm still not convinced she's anywhere near engaged.

Oh my you must be so excited about starting your mat leave! The sun is out here and its warming up quickly, but frankly it can piss off! πŸ˜†

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 06/09/2021 13:11

Oh bless you @MyGrassIsBrowner ! I think it's just important to remember this is temporary and you are allowed to feel fed up, upset and angry. I think sometimes we are made to feel we are not allowed to be fed up because we should be grateful but in reality that is not the case!

Shame about the Codine though, have you had some on a full stomach and seen if that is any better? I think a few people have said it makes them funny though so may be one of them which is typical.

@mooloop oh loving the count down! Reality wise I have a lot to go, especially if I extend my work and leave at 39 weeks instead.. that would 6 more mondays and 7 more weeks πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ Sounds a bit much now I have written it down.
Working from home today has been nice though without stressing on distancing or anything, and managing tk stay productive.

My big fat ball just came too which I may end up sitting on at my desk hahaha, the dog isnt too impressed with it though I must say

MeadowHay · 06/09/2021 13:28

Oh no @MyGrassIsBrowner Sad is there anyone around who could help you out with DD a bit so you can rest even just the odd hour here or there? Could you take a smaller dose of the codeine and see if that helps at all with maybe less side effects or could you change what time of day you take it maybe before bed so you will have slept off most the drowsiness? I really feel for you, it must be so tough having this difficult a pregnancy with such a small toddler to care for too I dunno how you're doing it to be honest, as unhelpful as that is! My feet are a bit swollen and sore too although not too bad, it's meant to very hot here tomorrow and Wednesday which am dreading too Sad

@mooloop I am working Tues-Thurs this week and then that's me done Grin I've been counting the time down for weeks haha.

Got to get DD up from a nap shortly, she was tired and has napped much earlier than usual today so it is going to be a looooong afternoon now til my DH is back from work and I already feel shattered and achey with the PGP and my sore swollen feet. I have a pregnancy exercise class tonight too and a long meeting for my volunteer work, it is a long day. Luckily I was asleep before 10pm last night cos I was exhausted so got an early night.

NW2021 · 06/09/2021 14:38

@mooloop I’m the same! 4 more Mondays! Count down is on now.
I was so tried this morning I was contemplating bringing my maternity forward just because I’ve had enough! And I don’t even do a manual job, just sat at a desk but I’m just over work now.
@Juicytoot287 fair play going to 39 weeks!

I’ve just been on the MAM site and seen they’ve had a code for a free bottle and dummy! Meant to be Β£9.99 but you just pay Β£3.99 postage.
Code below and link if anyone wants to order ☺️ I’ve just ordered one.

mooloop · 06/09/2021 14:59

@NW2021 are you finishing 8th October too? I feel the same, desk job and I'm wfh but I'm sooooo over work now I just can't wait to finish! I'll be 37 weeks when I finish, I'm using 3 weeks annual leave and then starting mat leave (unless baby turns up early). Serious hats off @Juicytoot287 carrying on to 39w!

On another note I had my second covid jab yesterday and feel like someone's punched me hard enough to give me a dead arm, lovely Grin

NW2021 · 06/09/2021 15:14

@mooloop Last day for me is the 5th. I’ll just be coming up to 37 weeks when I finish.
I’m the same as you! got annual leave to take then maternity pay kicks in last week of Oct, unless early arrival!

Sooo over working now. 3rd trimester has hit me hard, I keep thinking how do mums with other kids/toddlers do this and work and keep a house going and try to survive them selfs! Super women that’s what they are xx
