Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

Ladies I may have my toddler to run around after (the only saving grace is that she's really easy going and quite happy entertaining herself) but how you ladies are still continuing with work is beyond me!

The only thing that's keeping me going at the moment is knowing I'm booked in for a section. Selfishly I just wish it was much sooner than when I'm 39+4 but I dont think they'll bring it forward unless medically necessary.

I think I'm gonna have to try the codeine at a different time of day or on a really full stomach. I had a couple of doses of paracetemol today and it hasn't touched the sides! Really annoying that we cant take ibuprofen as that would probably be more effective than the paracetemol lol.

Must be so nice for you ladies prepping for homebirths. Wish it was something I could have gone through with myself as we have a really good homebirthing team in my town but sadly I think it would be a total disaster for me with how much pain I'm in. DP thinks I'm mad cause I'm looking forward to the spinal block than the baby being pulled out at this point πŸ˜†

Still not packed my bag yet. I just haven't had the wherewithal to even start it. The newborn clothes are still on the clothes airer nearly 4 days after taking them out the wash πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ x

@MyGrassIsBrowner haha! My hospital bag is still just the bag despite saying I was starting about a week ago. Have bought bits but not organised kr packed at all! I have the urgest to nest but not the energy

MyGrassIsBrowner · 06/09/2021 17:48

@Juicytoot287 Yeah my suitcase is on the side in our spare room but nothing is physically in it yet πŸ˜†
I think I've accepted that I wont be nesting this time like I did with my DD. That was a whole other level, I was packed and ready by the time I was 20 weeks I was sooooo organised! πŸ™ˆ this time I'm looking around my house just like "meh... that'll just have to do" or "that can be done once she's born" ...hahaha

NW2021 · 06/09/2021 20:25

@MyGrassIsBrowner @Juicytoot287 I’ve done the same! Got my suitcase, all the intentions to pack but just can’t be bothered or got the energy go do it πŸ˜‚
So the suitcase is just sat in the nursery with the rest of the stuff.
Now I’m just thinking I’ll do everything once I’ve finished work. Surly baby won’t arrive before then! .. famous last words!

Juicytoot287 · 06/09/2021 20:56

I AM MELTING!

All of a sudden I am hot and flush and my feet feel so warm. There just seems no cool air! Feel very grateful we did not have a hot summer now..

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/09/2021 10:21

Well, DP went to Asda last night and bought a pack of size 0 and size 1 Pampers nappies and I forgot how flipping teeeeny tiny they are! Just sat there comparing them to my DD's size 6 pluses which are huge in comparison πŸ˜†

First babies do tend to come later so you ladies might be okay if you haven't packed just yet lol!

@Juicytoot287 it's supposedly going to be as hot as the Canary Islands today... it can fuck off. I'm swollen, achy and hot anyway and this is just going to make me feel 10 times worse. Urghhhh.

My hospital bags are mostly done, I think I just need to buy a bikini top for me and some more snacks for me and DH. Well mostly for DH tbh, as I didn't really eat anything in my last labour once I'd got to hospital. And pack my flip flops. But got loads of other things to do still...need to clean the travel system, empty the spare room wardrobe and put some stuff in the loft/bin some stuff to then put all the baby's clothes in this wardrobe, loads of big cleaning jobs around the house too that I know I will not get time to do once they're here. But we already don't seem to have time and they're not even here yet!! I'm also convinced this baby is going to be earlier than my first too for no reason at all but it's stressing me out anyway!

Yes the heat is grim being pregnant, last heatwave I was struggling so much with low blood pressure and I'd been absolutely fine since it ended and lo and behold yesterday it got warm again and my blood pressure went low again by late PM I was trying to play with DD and was all woozy and faint it was horrible and DH was late home from work too which was typical.

mooloop · 07/09/2021 11:40

It's not too hot here yet thankfully but tomorrow is meant to be 27 degrees! 😩

I haven't started my hospital bag at all yet Shock but I'm not due until 30/10 so feel like I can hopefully carry on putting it off for a few more weeks haha.

Rang the GP today to see if I could get something to help with the glam pregnancy problem of constipation - she wouldn't prescribe anything and suggested I try exercising more. I walk the dog daily but don't know how much more exercise she's expecting me to be capable of at 8 months pregnant GrinπŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Juicytoot287 · 07/09/2021 13:19

@mooloop Oh my gosh, i agree dog walking is the maximum I can comit to and even then it is tricky haha. Could you try eating a lot of bananas and grapes etc. Natural laxative haha

@MeadowHay I keep getting dizzy and faint, wonder if that is similar reasons, hmmm. Just take it easy on yourself next few hot days!

@MyGrassIsBrowner We had the air con last night which was a god send. Slept like a baby thank god and have got all windows shut like a hermet today.

MeadowHay · 07/09/2021 13:21

@mooloop I'm pretty sure you can get lactulose and fybogel over the counter maybe ask your pharmacist? A lot of pregnant women take medication for constipation. Also there are things you could try to add to your diet, 'p' foods are particularly good e.g. prunes, pears, peaches, peas etc sorry if you already know this and of course drink as much water as you possibly can. I suffer with it a bit during pregnancy too and then when I start drinking tons of water all day it sorts itself out again - but I know that's hard because of the constant toilet trips!

It's 26 degrees here today I think and 27 tomorrow. I am sweeeaaatingg and our house hasn't even got that hot yet, I imagine tomorrow it will be worse eek.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/09/2021 13:56

@mooloop Laxido for constipation hun, you can buy it over the counter. DP had to buy me a box the other day as I have horrific constipation right now. I had around 5 sachets in 6 hours and it cleared me out. I'm having one or two a day just to keep me going for now. It's really good stuff but also gentle so can be used in pregnancy!

@Juicytoot287 so jealous of your aircon haha! We've got the tower fan on in the living room and DD is just shuffling about in her nappy.

It's 29Β°c here now, I'm in North Lincolnshire. I can't bloody cope πŸ₯΅

mooloop · 07/09/2021 16:19

Thanks ladies, I already drink tonnes of water and eat pretty well to try and help things but I'm really not up for much exercise at the moment πŸ˜‚ I'll have to get to the pharmacy!

summerhillgang · 07/09/2021 20:42

@mooloop I second Laxido, it's much better than others on the market as uses enzymes rather than fibre.

Weather absolutely minging today! I've been rushing about today to see the osteopath (who worked wonders) and then went for a swim. I had a midwife appt afterwards, and BP still borderline high. She's left me with a machine to test it myself over next few days, and it's completely normal (120/70 - give or take 5) everytime I have tried this afternoon/evening. If i get anymore high readings then prob need to go into hospital to get bloods done to rule anything out, if BP reads high in hospital then they can give me drugs to bring it down, and if it remains stable then I can go ahead with homebirth, if not then it's hospital birth for me. Its really stressing me out, as I am on mat leave living my best life, generally feeling great, so it should be normal. I just feel like maybe I am not cut out for all this pregnancy stuff, which is crap cause I want sibling(s) for this little one. On the other hand I have been running around getting everything sorted for birth and baby arrival, there's a lot to sort for home birth and I am a FTM so had to learn a lot / figure everything out for the first time, so I just need to chill now and rest as much as I can now.

In other news the baby's head is engaging, 1/5 today. I have just 6 days to go until 37 weeks, which is the cut off to when we can go ahead with home birth, so hoping it stays where it is for now. But exciting to know it's found it's way to the right spot. Can't wait to meet it now and for this last bit of pregnancy to be over xx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/09/2021 21:56

@summerhillgang I'll be honest with you my HR has been 120 or over at all of my appointments, since my booking appointment actually. They've basically said it's just normal for me in pregnancy. I wouldn't worry too much and I reckon if there was anything sinister going on it would have been picked up in your previous bloods. I would recommend you start taking it easy now though! Use this time to chill and get in the mindset for a nice relaxing homebirth.

27 days until my section now, not that I'm counting down the days or anything πŸ˜†
I'm so over this pregnancy, I'm heavy, everything hurts and I'm pissing like a racehorse! I've no idea if bubs is engaged yet until my scan on the 13th but I've got a feeling she's still in an oblique lie cause my bump is still really high.

OP posts:
summerhillgang · 07/09/2021 22:06

Ha @MyGrassIsBrowner 120/70 is good for me! It was 133/90 first time testing today, and last time 140/75 (I had just run up a flight of stairs tho). But around 117/74 when I tested myself earlier...
I don't understand why it fluates so much.

Whoop 27 days, so exciting you will meet your baby soon! I am guessing engaging and position doesn't matter too much with section? I can defo see the appeal x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 08/09/2021 00:53

@summerhillgang when you think about it your body is working overtime with bubs in there! And to be honest I'm unfit as hell so probs why my BP always measures so high πŸ˜†
As I say I wouldnt worry too much though it's probably totally normal for you during pregnancy.

Yeah I dont think position matters too much with a section but I think if they're breech/transverse they tend to have to do a bit more tugging and manipulating to get them out. I had a rather shocking recovery after my natural birth with my DD so that's why I'm going for a section this time. X

Peacefulspirit · 08/09/2021 02:31

@summerhillgang definitely sounds like an element of stress/white coat syndrome. Would explain why it’s lower when you do it yourself. You can always ask that they do a manual reading when you have an appointment, that tends to be more accurate than the electronic machines. You feel well and have no symptoms of pre-eclampsia, hopefully it will just settle. This is an exciting/anxious time so makes sense our BP fluctuates a bit.
@MyGrassIsBrowner soooo not long. It’s mad to think this time next month our babies will be here?!
Hope no one else is awake right now! X

summerhillgang · 08/09/2021 08:15

Thanks @Peacefulspirit - it was 117/71 shortly after waking so hopefully it stays like this over next couple of days. Defo white coat syndrome, I know the best place for me to birth is at home, in the pool, looking out at the sea, I think my blood pressure would be a lot worse in a hospital.

I am going to get some acupuncture today to help with the stress x x

Peacefulspirit · 08/09/2021 08:40

Ooh I’m on the coast too. Nothing better. This is me yesterday 😝

summerhillgang · 08/09/2021 12:56

@Peacefulspirit that looks so peaceful! Yes we're in Hastings x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 08/09/2021 13:24

Uhhh you're making me jealous ladies. What I'd do to have a swim in the sea right now. Lush.
closest I'll get to dipping my toes in the water is filling the sink bowl up with water and putting my feet in it πŸ˜†
God I can't cope with this heat today. Had an awful nights sleep and my bump is feeling so heavy at the moment, not sure if bubs has dropped or is just still in a really awkward position. Poor DP gone off to work in his suit, he was sweating before he even left the house I do not envy him right now.

OP posts:
summerhillgang · 08/09/2021 13:29

@MyGrassIsBrowner not sure what's worse, having to wear a suit in this weather or being almost full term! I'm laying in a darkened room with the fan. Midwife orders not go out in the sun today and drink lots of water x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 08/09/2021 13:41

@summerhillgang plenty of water today for us all today ladies! Definitely not worth going out. I would love to be able to put DD in her paddling pool today but I just can't bare to go outside and then have to faff about setting it up. He wont even wear a short sleeved shirt as he feels it's not appropriate work attire lol the dafty. I've got a feeling if it's quiet and there's enough staff in he's gonna slink off early (perks of being a GM lol)
