Morning ladies,

I'm hoping that maybe you can reassure me a little. I had pink spotting at 5 weeks. Epu scanned me and again at 6 weeks. They saw the heartbeat and all was fine. Fast forward to 9 weeks. Pink, brown, once dark red spotting. Only when wiping and once every day or so. Epu wont scan me again and said that it's probably due to sensitive cervix. My midwife said it's a common thing and probably all fine.

I have a history of 2 mc but also 2 healthy babies. So any sight of blood freaks me out.

Please can you reassure me it's not always a bad thing?

It seems like if I rest then no spotting. If I am more active then i will spot for an hour. Does anyone else have sensitive cervix and have this issue?? Xx

@heyheyapple I'm sorry to hear that your worried. I think sometimes they can measure differently if you maybe ovulated later than you think? Dont give up hope yet.

Have you had that scan at EPU or was that private? My midwife said that spotting around that time can be normal due to implantation and the sac that baby is in comes away (something along those lines). Xx

@Trinacham how are you doing now? X

@heyheyapple
I had this scan at 8 weeks so I'm going to try and hold out until my first NHS one now. Haven't had anymore bright red bleeding since a week ago, so trying to stay positive. No cramps at all since then either. The brown spotting has continued, only when wiping. I do wonder if it can be linked to activity. I have quite a physical job, always on my feet and moving about. The time I seem to spot the most is after straining after a bowel movement.
Is this similar to you?
As for the measurements, it sounds like a lot of people find themselves measuring behind what they thought, so I wouldn't let that worry you. They said I'm 2 days ahead, which confuses me as I know for sure when my period was, so I think being a few days out either way is more than likely expected. They say it is likely to change again at the next scan, so it just isn't accurate.

@Snoopy28x
I'm doing OK, thank you. Trying to relax when I can, as I do have the occasional worry, that maybe somehow the bleeding is caused by working too much. Going to take it easy this weekend. Could be just a coincidence but the bleeding began when I was at work. I rang in sick for the next 2 days, and that's when it stopped. Thankfully no bright red bleeding and no cramping since before I had the scan. Got my first appointment on Monday to have my bloods etc done. X

heyheyapple · 27/06/2021 00:32

@Trinacham I just got off the toilet and saw brown-pinkish discharge on my pad. I am starting to panic now. I don't know what triggers my spotting episodes but maybe it's also triggered when I walk? My cramps now are quite mild compared to when I miscarried before but I still can't be too sure. I can't wait to book another scan at 8 weeks so I can reassure myself again.

I just read your past posts again, did you have bright red spotting? How much in quantity? Goodness that will make me faint for sure!

@Snoopy28x I really want to believe it's the sac that's coming away. I really want to stay positive despite everything that's happening. Oh I just hope you're right!

Hope you had a better day today though and hope your hormones have settled a wee bit!🙂

Trinacham · 27/06/2021 07:32

@heyheyapple I had more than spotting when I was bleeding bright red blood (this was a week ago today). I had to wear a pad. It lasted a couple of hours, and I went through 2 pads (not flooding but enough to have to change them). And everything looked fine on my scan, this is why I don't think you should worry - but I know it's hard not to. The sonographer said he couldn't see a cause for the bleeding.
What's interesting is it was the time my second period would have been due. I wonder if it was anything to do with that. I have read about a 'hormonal bleed'.
My brown spotting continues still.

Snoopy28x · 28/06/2021 07:43

Morning ladies @Trinacham @heyheyapple

I'm doing alot better. My hormones seem to have settled and I've not cried all weekend.. yay! I'm feeling alot more human! I went on a mad house tidying mission yesterday, treated myself to a carpet cleaner and had my dh doing that (much to his delight) 😂

@apple sorry to hear you've had spotting again it's so worrying. I had brown pink spotting at 6 weeks and everything on the scan was fine. So I think that isnt anything to worry about. Mild cramping can be normal to everything stretching and growing. Your body is doing amazing things inside. My midwife said that it can also be caused by a sensitive cervix. Have you did recently or even a difficult bowel movement can cause spotting. It is reassuring that there can be many reasons for spotting l xx

Trina - I hope your booking app goes well today. I hope you had a nice relaxed weekend. Could you tell your employer about the pregnancy and maybe do some lighter duties? If that's an option. Just until you get to 12 weeks and know everything's ok. Or even get your dr to maybe sign you off for a week and see if rest helps xx

Trinacham · 28/06/2021 13:52

@Snoopy28x so pleased to hear you're feeling much better. I'm the sort of person that gets excited about carpet cleaners.. in fact I could do with one with my cats! It feels good to clean and organize, doesn't it xx

Appointment went well. I was apprehensive as i've never had bloods taken before and was hoping I didn't have difficult veins - but pleased to say I have easy veins! I did actually tell my employer as soon as I found out about my pregnancy, as I work with chemicals and anesthetic. I was stopped from working with the harmful ones straight away. They knew what was happening when I had the scare so have been understanding and said to me we'll avoid me doing too much physically xx

Hope you're feeling alright @heyheyapple

heyheyapple · 28/06/2021 15:04

It's happening. I think I'm miscarrying. My cramps doubled from last night and my bleeding is building up. They scanned me at the EPAU just now and saw a heartbeat but could not explain the bleeding, clots and intense cramping.

This is all too sad ladies. The doctor said it could still carry on to become a healthy pregnancy or it may sadly miscarry. I am seriously in limbo. I don't know what to think or do.......

Snoopy28x · 28/06/2021 15:53

@heyheyapple I am so sorry your going through this.. that is a horrible situation. Did they say they would re scan? Try and take it easy as you can and (I know easier said than done) but try not to worry. I will keep everything crossed for you. Hopefully the fact there is a heartbeat is a good sign?? Xx

OP posts:
Trinacham · 28/06/2021 18:04

@heyheyapple it sounds similar to my experience. Cramping, bleeding (more than just spotting). I was convinced I had lost it. They couldn't explain the bleeding either, like with you. I'm hoping you will go the same as me and find that the bleeding slows and then stops 🤞it is definitely promising that a heartbeat has been confirmed. I'm wishing you the best. I know how horrible I felt a week ago when I thought it was over ❤ definitely get some rest if you can xx

heyheyapple · 28/06/2021 19:17

@Snoopy28x @Trinacham

Just had another pad change now. Gosh. But the cramps has settled down a bit. Weirdly enough, I'm due to have my periods today too. Anyways, yes. All I should do is relax and put my mind at ease. I must also stop researching too much.

Hope you ladies had a nice day today. Thanks for listening to my woes x

Snoopy28x · 28/06/2021 19:29

@heyheyapple anytime! I hope you manage to get some rest tonight and things settle down x

I've been on a cleaning frenzy.. feel like I've done about 20 loads of washing today. Washing everything in sight haha

Very interesting you say that as mine was around the time my second period was due! It would have been day 25 and the 2 cycles I had before I conceived were 24 and 27 days long xx

ChaiTRex · 28/06/2021 23:10

@Snoopy28x I am so, so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how surreal it must feel.

Hello @Snoopy28x,

I'm still bleeding (like I'm on my period) since Monday during the scan plus I have mild cramps and discomfort on my pelvic floor.

I'm still passing bright red blood and small clots but I'm not filling up pads just yet.

I've been waiting for the pregnancy sac to pass so we can move on and start recovering but this miscarriage is taking a while. The last MC I had was quite quick.

I cried so hard yesterday but now I feel a bit better. I booked a private scan (tonight) to see if there are any retained products of conception so I can opt for other treatments to speed it up as I don't want to get any infection in the long run.

When I'm ready, I am totally going on a cleaning frenzy like you! 😁

How are you doing @Trinacham? X

Snoopy28x · 01/07/2021 17:01

@heyheyapple I am so sorry.. it's so hard the waiting.. have they confirmed that its definitely a mc?

I feel like it's worse the waiting.. once things start to properly happen you know it's only a few more hours (in my experience) until its over. then it's almost a relief that you can start to heal.

Have you had some time off? I found my hormones were so all over the place. I would just cry at the drop of a hat and snap peoples head off.

Please let me know how your scan goes. I will keep my fingers crossed its not the worst case for you.

My cleaning frenzy continues lol I've literally washed everything in the house this week. Scrubbed rugs.. door mats.. hoovered, carpet cleaned. Today I went on a mission in the garden! Haha it's very therapeutic xx

@heyheyapple I'm sorry. Wondering how your scan went? ❤ hope you're doing OK
I'm still spotting. Still brown. I had my 12 week scan letter through for 3 weeks time. I'm going to be wishing the time away. It's going to go so slow. Just want to get there and for everything to be fine x

heyheyapple · 04/07/2021 07:44

@Trinacham
Sounds like a long wait but I hope you find worthwhile stuff to do like maybe go on little trips just to make time go quicker. I wish you the best health and good vibes on your pregnancy journey xx

@Snoopy28x
Hope you're doing well today x

I've had the scan yesterday and yes I've had a miscarriage (as I have anticipated). Even though they saw a heartbeat last Monday, I knew the miscarriage was coming anyway but nobody listened to me. I was hoping they could give me progesterone or anything at all that could help even just a bit. I felt so helpless. They left me bleeding on the table and sent me home without much explanation.

Tomorrow, I am going to express my concerns to my GP but again, it's quite sad to know that I need to have 3 miscarriages before they start listening to me. I wish I could fly to America or to my home country where they would do everything they can to save the pregnancy. Unlike the management here where it's all ran by protocol and patients are only treated as numbers.

I have quite a history, I have 2 blocked major veins, Familial Hypercholesterolemia, a large 5x4x7cm dermoid cyst on my ovary, a nodule on my thyroid with a history of endocrine disorders in my family, and many more which would at LEAST catch a doctor's attention to start investigating the cause but NO... the ticket to their attention is another miscarriage.

So sorry for ranting, I'm in the process of grieving but I'll soon recover for sure 😅😅😅

Yesterday after the scan, I crossed the country to buy a sofa! That felt great 😂

Hope you have a lovely day ahead xx

Snoopy28x · 04/07/2021 08:36

@heyheyapple I am so sorry... I also find it crazy you need 3 before they take notice! Surely 2 would be enough. They rang me 2 days after my scan this time and said as I've had 3 now can I collect the tissue etc I pass 😧 then they could test it. I said I was on holiday so that's not really an option! They rang up all chirpy.. I found that an insensitive conversation to start my day with!!

How are you doing? Try and take it easy if you can. No apologies needed. You rant away! I think you are well within your rights to and I'm so sorry that they treated you in that way. Take your time, grieve, cry, shout and if your like me.. clean Smile we are here for you so rant anytime xxx

Hope you're both doing OK @Snoopy28x and @heyheyapple

I'm having a worrying time again. Last night I woke up to a gush of blood. After I'd been to the loo to clean up I made my way back to bed, but passed out and found myself on the stairs. I didn't hurt myself much obviously has worried me tremendously for the pregnancy, not to mention the bleeding that has started up again. Not having any cramping or pains and the bleeding has stopped after that one gush.
Waiting to hear back from EPAU.

Snoopy28x · 08/07/2021 08:56

@Trinacham that sounds scary!! Glad you are going to get checked out. If they don't get back to you soon I would speak to your midwife. See if she can get you in for a scan.

How are you feeling this morning?? Do keep keep me posted wont you xxx

OP posts:
Trinacham · 08/07/2021 10:48

@Snoopy28x I'm feeling fine this morning, other than very anxious! They have fixed me in for a scan tomorrow. Will be very nervous when I'm there. Just don't know what to think.. it's awful! The waiting is horrible. I know I've been through this before, and if anything this seems not as bad, as I've not yet had pain like last time, but can't help but fear it's the worst. Going to be a long 24 hours.

Snoopy28x · 08/07/2021 12:00

@Trinacham yeah it's a horrible and long wait. Try and keep positive, what time is your scan? I will keep everything crossed for you. I'm really hoping for good news for you!!! How many weeks are you? Do you still have your symptoms? Xx
