Hi everyone, following up from our second thread here.

We’re just about through morning sickness and odd early pregnancy symptoms… what will the second trimester bring?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry to hear some of you are struggling.
@jackjack84 hope you are doing better and tape and physio help.

@hannah94L that sounds good news and hope continues to stay stable or reduces.

Interesting to see all the info about pram, buggies etc. There is so much choice. Thinking of a travel system perhaps, so get everything at once - but like idea of second hand refurbished stuff.

Definitely feeling very pregnant now, some lower tummy soreness, but so far not bad. The reflux/indigestion is a bit horrible at times.

Katy4321 · 26/08/2021 23:00

Hi everyone, i just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing? This November group is a pretty quiet group, so hopefully we can keep it going and maybe some more November mums to be will join.
Third trimester or nearly third trimester for us now!

JackJack84 · 27/08/2021 06:11

Hi @Katy4321 how are things with you?
I'm a bit up & down. My PGP is thankfully more manageable now which is good. I got the dreaded news that I have gestational diabetes so that's been a bit rough but I think I'm getting to grips with it...slowly 😁

Hope everyone else is doing good!

Knock123 · 27/08/2021 08:23

Hey ladies!! Yeah we're a bit crap aren't we?!

@JackJack84 so glad to hear your PGP has improved, but bad luck about the diabetes!! My PGP has been coming and going but thankfully not got any worse than before.

I'm 30 weeks now and because I had holiday I have 7 weeks left at work, I just can't believe it!
A full night's sleep seems to be a thing of the past but I can see the finish line at long last. Time is absolutely flying! How long has everyone else got at work?

I keep getting these weird baby movements that feels like the baby is doing loads of fluttery kicks. It's not hiccups, but like a really strong wriggly feeling, no idea what is going on in there, have any of you had something similar? I'm not concerned or anything, when I saw the obstetrician he said it's the pattern not the type or strength of movement which matters, just curious if any STM had this feeling before and recognised the movement once baby arrived.

Katy4321 · 27/08/2021 10:41

@jackjack84 sorry to hear about the diabetes, that doesn't sound fun on top of everything else. Hope you are getting plenty of support and finding food that works for you with the GD. Good the pgp is more managable - is there anyway in particular you found worked well for you?

I doing pretty well thanks - efflux wakes me occasionally and i sometimes feel i have breathed it in which is horrible! Just have to make sure i don't eat late or too much.

@knock123 yes time is flying! I've booked two weeks maternity before birth and will take 2 weeks annual leave before that, so 7 weeks at work left for me too - which feels very short!
And still have to get quite a lot of stuff....

I get fluttery movements too, but also kicks. I guess the fluttery movement is her turning over/around?! It still fills me with wonder that there is a little being in there moving independently from me!

Phoneshea · 27/08/2021 16:08

Can I join? I’m due 14th November so am 28+5

I’m having an ELCS hopefully around 8th November!

Feel so big and sleeping through the night is a thing of the past due to aching hips and waking up to turn over !

sparklyblue81 · 27/08/2021 16:12

@JackJack84 I’m being investigated for gestational diabetes too 🙈 had a blood test week which was clear but sugar in my urine again today (third time) so been referred for the glucose tolerance test now!

I had a growth scan today & all good measurements wise with bubs & I’ve actually lost weight since booking now with all the walking & healthy eating I’ve been doing! I’ve picked up my stash of clexane injections too so I start those tomorrow.

I’m finishing work the first week of October I think but I’m off on summer hols at the moment so only about 5 weeks left at work. Might be working at home too - I’m just waiting to hear what’s what.

We’ve been busy decorating the last couple of weeks so we can move all the kids bedrooms round. Will feel better when that’s finished as it’s a lot of upheaval constantly moving things from one room to another out of the way!

I did wash the newborn clothes, infant car seat covers & pack my hospital bag though last week so getting somewhere with my to do list!

sparklyblue81 · 27/08/2021 16:12

Hi @Phoneshea 👋

Floryella · 27/08/2021 16:32

Hi, can I join? I'm due 24th November so 27 + 3. I've been told I can have an ELCS but not booked in yet - hopefully that means I'll have it the week before... I'm already huge and also have the aching hips when trying to sleep as well as coccyx pain. Starting to get used to the broken sleep, maybe it's good practice?

JackJack84 · 27/08/2021 16:39

@Katy4321 ah I really feel for you with the reflux, it's a nightmare. One good thing with the GD diet is I don't get it anymore, it's almost makes up for doing without all of my favourite foods 😂

I've started swimming which I think has helped with the PGP as well as the physio exercises. I'm still on crutches if I've got to walk any distance but I can get around the house mostly pain free thankfully.

JackJack84 · 27/08/2021 16:42

@sparklyblue81 fingers crossed you don't have GD & it's great your growth scan was good. I had mine on Wednesday & baby is already on the 97th centile 🙈 I'm not panicking too much though as I know things can change & I'm now doing everything I can to manage my GD.

We're also decorating, we actually started last year but it's taken ages to get plasterer, carpets etc. We've just got the babies room left to do so the end is finally in sight!

Katy4321 · 27/08/2021 20:07

@Floryella and @phoneshea hello.

It sounds like we are all well into the discomfort of the third trimester, after the relatively better second. Not long to go now at least.

@jackjack84 that is at least one good thing about the GD and sounds like you have done a lot to overcome the worst of the pgp.

Lizlou85 · 27/08/2021 20:51

I'm now 27+3. Have this week coming off work, so need it. We're decorating the nursery and going to a bigger city to look at all the stuff we need.
Wednesday we have our first growth measurement with the midWife. Little one seems trouble already, had a really scary day this week were I felt only 4 kicks vs the normal kickathon and flips. Was about to call the 24hr line and the monkey started moving like it knew!
I've put in with work and it's been accepted to leave on October 22nd so, if little one is on time I'll have 4 weeks at home.

Knock123 · 28/08/2021 11:54

@Lizlou85 I had something similar, barely any movement one day. I spent all day trying to concentrate on feeling movements and by about 6pm I just called the midwives and they told me to go in. Worst bit was she couldn't find the heartbeat for ages and had to get me into a bed to find it!! She was reassuring me that she was able to feel the baby move with her hands so I was trying my best to stay calm but it was terrifying!

As soon as they found the heartbeat and hooked me up, baby spent the whole 30 mins kicking. They said I did the right thing and they'd rather I went in every week and there be nothing wrong than sit at home worrying.
I spoke to the Dr about it and he said next time, lie down quietly and squeeze your belly, tight but not super tight and the tightness should make the baby start kicking. Glad everything was OK for you, it's really scary isn't it.

Lizlou85 · 31/08/2021 06:39

Knock123, glad your ok. It’s scary when they suddenly stop wriggling and kicking isn’t. I felt like he/she was testing me.

Yogity · 31/08/2021 09:06

Hi ladies! Can I join? I'm due 9 Nov so 30 weeks today. Smile

Had a growth scan last week and our baby girl is measuring at the 20th percentile. Massively relieved because she was at the 10th at 20 weeks. We have a two vessel cord which can sometimes restrict growth, but she seems to be doing ok, albeit not the big 9lb4oz/10lb babies that myself and DH were Confused.

Dinosaurus86 · 31/08/2021 18:04

Rubbish about the GD @JackJack84 - did you have any clue or no symptoms at all? I have my glucose challenge later this week…

Welcome to @Floryella @Phoneshea and @Yogity!

Totally empathise with the lack of sleep. I get too uncomfortable just sleeping on one side, but also find it incredibly uncomfortable turning over!

Floryella · 31/08/2021 19:26

Hi everyone, sounds like there have been a few of us with fast/slow movement. It's hard to work out what's normal when they don't really have a pattern, some days she's kicking like crazy and others she's really lazy. I've been in once to have her checked but I could/maybe should have gone another three times really... it's hard not to feel like you're wasting time, though they always say not to think that.
I had my 28 week appointment today and when they measured the bump it was coming up very small, 3rd percentile. Heartbeat was strong and lots of movement, and the midwife thinks it's probably because she's lying transverse so I'm not too worried. I have a growth scan on Friday which hopefully will give better measurements. Fingers crossed everything is OK.
Hope everyone else is doing well today!

Yogity · 31/08/2021 20:39

I did ask the consultant when I was in about movement because I had been told it was more about deviations from your own baby's routine. Our little one is typically very quiet for about 2 hours in the morning time from 9/9.30ish pretty much every day. (Just like her dad! Sleeping in late) The doctor said 2 hours is too long and I should be lying on my side in a dark room with cold water after 60-90 minutes to wake her up. Just in case that timeframe helps anyone

Lizlou85 · 01/09/2021 06:27

Different question for everyone as I lay wide awake. What are you looking forward to doing once little one is here that you haven't been able to do for the last few months? Me its sleeping however I want and not waking up panicked that I've harmed Him or Her by sleeping on right side or back and being able to sleep on my stomach again, simple things.

Floryella · 01/09/2021 08:32

@Yogity that's interesting to know, thanks. Unfortunately it's a bit tricky to go find a dark room to lie down in for an hour during a working day... I've found this a few times where I'm stuck at work and freaking out that I haven't felt her for a while. It's hard to know what to do. Are you on mat leave or working from home?
@Lizlou85 Same here! I'm a back sleeper and changing to sleeping on my sides is really painful. I can't wait to sleep however I want to, even though I'm sure I'll be woken up for longer during the night once she's here. I'm looking forward to being able to see her (can't wait to find out what/who she looks like!) and know she's doing OK, rather than just hoping for the best.
Oh, and a guilt free glass of wine or cup of coffee.

JackJack84 · 01/09/2021 08:38

@Dinosaurus86 I was pretty much sure I had GD tbh, due to my BMI, not so great diet & medication I'm on that causes blood sugar irregularities. I also had an insatiable thirst & needed to wee constantly but it was only ever a trickle when I went. But then they both seems to be things that can happen in pregnancy anyway! Good luck for your test 🤞🏼

I'm WFH. So far I haven't had to do this but primarily just because I only got that advice a few days ago. I think my work would be quite sympathetic in general but going by this LO's habits I'd end up doing it every day Confused It's so hard to know what to do

Floryella · 01/09/2021 09:58

One thing I have found helps with getting her to move is singing! Especially if I'm able to lie on my left side, a bit of a nursery rhyme repeated a few times seems to get some decent kicks. I guess it must be quite loud to her - not sure if she likes it or not but at least it gets a reaction Grin

Bennetgirl · 01/09/2021 10:15

Hi everyone. I’m 30 weeks tomorrow and had a growth scan last week. Already 3lb 8 so guessing I’ll be giving birth to a toddler 😩

I certainly don’t feel baby move 10 times in a hour. And definitely go 2 hours with nothing. She’s breech, facing my back and I have an anterior placenta so I don’t worry. I’d be on the monitor every day if I called in!

Spd is starting at night now and is now in both hips. Our toddler still comes into our bed at night so no hope of millions of pillows to get comfy!
