@Catconfusion no that makes total sense, especially with having HG. It is the what ifs, even if everything is going well etc. I didn't get my nipt results back til I was 15 weeks, so it struck me it was a very long time also, when you could just have it at ten weeks and know before your nhs scan even

rainfrog21 · 16/08/2021 13:38

@Catconfusion re the NIPT, for me it was definitely worth it. When I got the result and the earlier scan last week it was a huge relief, realised I'd had this thing in the back of my mind that was lifted by getting the information. Also, my feeling was that if anything had gone wrong, I just didn't want to wait until the 'magical' 12 week mark, for some reason it just felt like that would make it worse.

Hi ladies bit of a random tip here, in case anyone else was wanting to keep a vague eye on weight, I found a useful calculator online (link below hopefully) that gives a sense for the expected range at each stage of pregnancy, based on your own starting weight and due date. I've also found that I can change my MFP settings to adjust it from 'maintain weight' to 'gain 0.25 kg per week' which seems to calculate a sensible number of calories (more than I thought I needed which perhaps explains why I've been so hungry lately). Obviously not wanting to diet or suggest above should, I'm trying to accept there's little point trying to control any part of this process which is hard, but I'm just one of those people who like to have data at least. I also find MFP a helpful way to remind myself to eat healthy foods (I'm one of those who would just eat 6 bowls of crunchy nut if I didn't set a reminder to have an apple etc!). Sharing in case of interest to anyone else.

So, 19 weeks tomorrow! It’s been a rough couple of weeks but I’m still going and little bean is definitely less little now!
I chose not to have nipt as the thought of waiting for results really triggered my anxiety. I did have an extra scan at 16 weeks with the consultant and she was happy with what she saw.
I have hit the next big milestone and have been feeling movements for a couple of weeks! Feeling my little wriggler has been so reassuring and it makes the first trimester so worthwhile!

@Bladette84 that's exciting!! Must be lovely to feel movement. Glad all was well at your 16 week scan.

@Bladette84 Did something come on the dating scan tests for you to have the NIPT test? I have my dating scan next week and I'm very anxious and concerned about the chromosome tests they're going to do.
rainfrog21 · 17/08/2021 12:00

@Bladette84 congratulations on the milestone! It's nice that we are all at different stages in this thread so there's some insight from further along. I've got my 12 week scan on Sat and already

Bladette84 · 17/08/2021 17:47

@MissL85
I was given 1 in 150 risk of Downs. My blood results and nuchal check were absolutely fine so it was pretty much down to my age and being overweight (even though I lost 3.5 stone prior to IVF). At the end of the day, it’s still a less than 1% chance and we want this baby regardless so we decided not to have nipt. They offered us 16 week scan as an alternative which was better for my anxiety.

Bladette84 · 17/08/2021 18:11

@rainfrog21 it is really nice, I hope I can give some reassurance to people from my own journey!
Good luck with your scan :)

Catconfusion · 17/08/2021 18:16

@Bladette84 I’ve heard of so many people getting high risk results and then having the stress of an amnio or in recent times the nipt. I don’t know anyone who actually found out something was wrong. So it’s usually just a ton more stress for no reason. It sounds like from the scans all looks good. If you’re have the baby no matter what then you made the right decision. Xx

Bladette84 · 17/08/2021 22:51

@Catconfusion exactly, I certainly didn’t need the stress!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/08/2021 09:35

@Bladette84 an extra scan sounds lovely and breaks up the wait until twenty week scan. I still have 29 days and it feels like a really looong time!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/08/2021 11:24

@VixFromThe6ix how're you getting on?

VixFromThe6ix · 18/08/2021 13:38

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 just waiting for the 20 week scan lol. We are 16 weeks tomorrow. 12 week scan was nerve-racking but results were good and they didn't send us for more testing. Anticipating those baby movements... 🥰 I've got a couple weeks to go I think till I can feel that.
How are you, darling?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/08/2021 13:43

@VixFromThe6ix ahh you and I are so close then, I'm 16 weeks too. That'll be so exciting to feel any movement! Hopeful it happens soon for us both! 💙

rainfrog21 · 21/08/2021 13:29

Had my 12 week scan today and all looks good, one milestone down and feeling a lot less stressed. Hope everyone is doing well and has some nice relaxing weekend plans to hide away from all this rainy weather. I've scoured the shops for a decent pasteurised cheese selection and planning a feast in front of a romcom tonight with the girls :-)

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/08/2021 16:16

@rainfrog21 that's lovely news and must have been a relief to see! Enjoy your cheese tonight

Catconfusion · 21/08/2021 19:34

@rainfrog21 that’s excellent news. Such a big milestone to get through. I can’t wait to get to that point. I’m 8 weeks today and spent most of it vomiting. Xx

rainfrog21 · 23/08/2021 12:07

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @Catconfusion thank you! I'm just hoping this alleged 2nd trimester energy and reduction in sickness is going to be with me soon...

Catconfusion · 24/08/2021 16:39

I just had another scan today. Baby has little arms and legs now. Everything is looking good. I’m 8 plus 4. It’s such a relief! Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 24/08/2021 18:17

@Catconfusion pleased your scan went well!

Such lovely news - so pleased for you!
MissL85 · 26/08/2021 11:02

Just had my dating scan. I thought I was 13 weeks and a day, but apparently I'm 12 weeks and 6 days. The baby was upside down and I had to empty my bladder in order for it to move.

Katiekattty · 26/08/2021 11:18

Hi all, how’s everyone? I’ve been MIA mostly since covid. Finally getting some energy back now. I’m 21 weeks now, I’ve had my anomaly scan but I need to go back for them to finish. I have a very stubborn boy who despite me doing all sorts of acrobatics wouldn’t move. Has anyone started buying stuff yet? I’m still waiting on a completion date for our house so I’m in limbo for now.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 26/08/2021 15:33

@Katiekattty sorry you've been ill, hope you're feeling a lot better.

Good here thanks, not much to report, I'm just waiting for my 20 week scan which isn't for another 3 weeks almost still. Got a big wedding coming up and only had one vaccine, so a bit nervous about that.

Haven't bought anything yet, except some nice maternity clothes for me, as I was looking hideous in my normal ones
