Can I ask...how did your parents react when you told them the sex of your babies? I'm not one for gender reveals and making a big deal out of it but when I went to tell my parents on the weekend when I first got there they asked how the scan went...then went on about talking about the flowers they've bought for their garden Confused when I finally told them the sex of baby they both just sat there said 'aww that's nice, we knew it would be a girl' they just didn't seem bothered.
My sister did a confetti Canon reveal for her daughter but it was her first child and I remember my mother running up to my sister crying and hugging her. I didnt get a hug for my news.
Maybe its my hormones? But it's been bothering me since last weekend Confused

LAR96 · 15/07/2021 13:53

@Curlymam88 I would feel exactly the same, thats really sad :(
There is just me and my sister, and I am the first one who is pregnant, my mum did a huge gender reveal party and we popped a balloon my mum cried and hugged me!
Maybe its because its not the first child but still no excuse to not be excited for you!

Curlymam88 · 15/07/2021 14:04

@LAR96 that sounds lovely. My parents did say that's lovely news etc..., I was even stood up telling them the news expecting a hug off them 🤦🏽‍♀️ just wasn't the reaction I was expecting. Glad this isn't down to me being extra sensitive and hormonal!

LAR96 · 15/07/2021 14:11

All us pregnant woman are extra sensitive but parents should know this and make an even bigger fuss! Hope you feel better about it soon! Big hugs and a huge congratulations :D

Curlymam88 · 15/07/2021 14:38

@LAR96 I'll get over it. We are all chuffed at home anyway. That's the main thing. Thank you Smile

LAR96 · 15/07/2021 14:39

Agree! Such an exciting time, don't let anyone put a downer on it!

tuxedocat · 15/07/2021 15:21

@Curlymam88 aw babe that sucks. I’m sorry they were like that. My brother sent me a shitty text saying he was the last to know bla bla and I was like eh?! He only knew as my parents had been watching my son for us to go to a scan. At that point my husbands family didn’t know.

Families can be assholes and it’s ok to feel let down or annoyed. As long as you’re happy that’s all that matters but I know it’s easier said than done x

Curlymam88 · 15/07/2021 16:02

@tuxedocat families eh! That's right, that's what my partners said about it and I'm trying to be the same. Just a bit disappointed.

jade0881 · 15/07/2021 16:04

@Curlymam88 I mean I would feel the same and upset. I mean don't get to upset. Your probs just over thinking. They probs are really happy for you x

Families can be difficult at times. It's so hard. Like everyone has already said as long as you and your little family at home are happy then that's all that matters. Sending big hugs beautiful ❤️

Is anyone else struggling to get to sleep and then waking up lots in the night? I’m really struggling and I’m having such vivid dreams last night was the worst it has ever been! I was trying to hide a dead body!!😳

jade0881 · 16/07/2021 16:10

Hey ladies, I had my midwife appointment today and to be honest it was so pointless going. They went over my bloods which I already had a letter about. Urine test came back fine. I asked midwife about hearing heartbeat and I was told it's to early for that. I questioned her about it saying I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and I've never heard if anything like that. Usually after your dating scan you will start to hear babies heartbeat. Anyways she didn't wanna listen so I gave up and left.
My next midwife appointment isn't until 1st October when I will be 28 weeks.
I really wanna get a Doppler but they are so expensive..

I hope you are all well.

@LouLou0505 I haven't experienced any of that yet. But apparently in pregnancy you tend to have weird drams

Curlymam88 · 16/07/2021 17:26

@LouLou0505 yes...me. I've had really bad insomnia for weeks!!!! And I've been having really bad dreams wen I do actually get to sleep. I've also got restless legs at night which is dreadful!
@jade0881 i know...the midwife appointment was very brief. I had my doppler off ebay. Was only a cheap £15 one. I wasn't expecting much from it being so cheap but it works really well. I just used it now actually. I was paranoid with this heat and wanted to check she was ok lol.
How are you all getting on with this heat?? I been struggling to catch my breath on a normal day but this heat makes it so much worse!!!

jade0881 · 16/07/2021 18:25

@Curlymam88 I can relate to the restless legs. Mine are so terrible. I am unable to wear a mask now because I cannot breathe. My midwife said pregnant women are classed as exempt.. I might have to look on eBay then.. thanks for that hun. This heat is driving me crazy although it's nice to have this weather. How about yourself?

OP posts:
Curlymam88 · 16/07/2021 18:43

@jade0881 I've had it for weeks. Its driving me mad. I'm fine in the day but come night time its terrible. Do you find anything eases it? I've started to fill a hot water bottle but put it in the freezer so a ice water bottle. I lay my legs on it and it helps for a bit.
Oh I didnt know we are classed as exempt. I think ill have a read up about that. Does it apply for wales? I'm from South wales.
It is nice to have the weather, but I'm struggling a bit.
Has anyone else's walk changed? I seem to be waddling more now. My DD8 and partner take the piss about it Hmm

jade0881 · 16/07/2021 19:00

@Curlymam88 to be honest hun I don't think anything helps me. I've literally gotta walk around and around until I feel absolutely tired lol. Ok not sure about South Wales whether the same rules apply but I'm sure it would be all pregnant women. Omg yesssss my walk has changed loads. I'm walking like a penguin loool and I'm not even full term looooool 🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣

2020mission · 16/07/2021 19:07

@jade0881 aww that's a shame they wouldn't let you hear the heartbeat but at least they did test your urine so it was worth going in for that!

@LouLou0505 I've been waking up during the night recently but I think it's down to heat rather than the pregnancy 😅 I'm glad I'm not heavily pregnant in this weather.

I've had a bit of restless legs too usually seems to happen in the evening when I'm on the sofa watching TV. I have to get up and stand or walk around for a bit as it's too annoying to sit and put up with.

No walk changes here but I've still only got a small bump at 16 weeks since it's my first baby. It seems to be noticeable though as I met my in-laws for a lunch outside at a cafe yesterday and they were excited and said "ohh you do look pregnant now"!

julzx · 16/07/2021 19:43

Found out yesterday baby is a girl!

I already have a 2 year old son so very exciting, was very suprised was convinced especially after the scan that she was a boy, so when we let of the cannon it took me a couple mins to realise it was actially pink.. also not feeling i look very pregnant just chubby my weight seems to have gone to my bum and legs.

jade0881 · 16/07/2021 20:07

@2020mission yes I was very upset. They said it was too early some how...

Also ladies have you heard the latest news about pregnant women going into hospital?

OP posts:
jade0881 · 16/07/2021 20:07

@julzx aww congratulations 🥳 hun.. that must be so exciting for you. Yippeeee you have a boy and a girl now

Curlymam88 · 16/07/2021 20:24

@jade0881 what news is this??

jade0881 · 16/07/2021 20:33

@Curlymam88 that apparently we will be going back into lockdown in 5 weeks time and don't know when or how long we will be in lockdown for. we won't be able to have our partners with us when we go into labour. This is a source from 2 nhs staff that I worked with and they explained that have has briefings about this and to prepare.

This absolutely ridiculous. I can't have this. I can't do that.

OP posts:
2020mission · 16/07/2021 20:44

@jade0881 if that's true I'm having a home birth! This is my first I don't think I will cope alone 🤣

Curlymam88 · 16/07/2021 20:54

Surely they can't do that?? Refusing partners to see their newborns. Its unethical
