I had my 16 week appointment on Thursday with midwife and shewing through all my blood results there. I had my notes but she red the results off her computer. I didnt get to hear heartbeat with the doppler but I have one at home anyway. She checked urine and blood pressure too.

jade0881 · 12/07/2021 09:52

@Curlymam88 that's good hun, how comes they didn't allow you to heat heartbeat? When I went to my booking appointment they said I will get to hear heartbeat on midwife appointment. I hope that's still the case.

Curlymam88 · 12/07/2021 10:12

I didnt ask and she didn't mention it. So not sure. I was more focused on getting the blood results at the time because I hadn't heard anything before that appointment.

JW2021 · 12/07/2021 10:55

My 16 week apt this week too - what type of Doppler do they use ? A hand held one similar to what I bought from Amazon! - although I’m certain a lot more technical. But surely I’ll be able to hear it ‘galloping’ won’t I? As for the urine test unless they forgot I’ve only ever done one at my first apt at 8 weeks BP & weight every time 🤷🏼

tuxedocat · 12/07/2021 15:34

I didn’t get to hear the heartbeat today. I have two types of protein in my urine so it’s being tested for pre eclampsia, so I’m abit worried. The only case I read on Google that was pre 20w ended in feral death 😔 so I’m hoping it’s not that.

2020mission · 12/07/2021 15:52

Aww @tuxedocat try not to worry it's good they have found the protein now so they can keep and eye on you! Did you ask to hear the heartbeat? I wonder if they just don't offer but might if you ask. I think I'll try asking on Thursday!

jade0881 · 12/07/2021 16:24

@tuxedocat try not to worry hun. It's good they are testing it tho. I have my midwife appointment on Friday. So I hope they take irons sample etc too

OP posts:
Curlymam88 · 12/07/2021 16:25

@tuxedocat did they mention they could give you asprin if its pre eclampsia? Or is tge asprin for prevention not cure? I'm sure they'll sort things for you quickly there must be things they can do for you when they detect protein. Try not to worry yourself until you actually know what it is you're dealing with. Easier said than done though I know Flowers

JW2021 · 12/07/2021 16:40

Ok interesting about testing your pee - for preeclampsia I thought it would be your blood! That’s why I’m not a midwife! Lol - as you know I’m in the USA maybe they don’t do it at every apt 🤷🏼 How did they listen to the heart beat? Surely anyone in the room can hear it ……. Can’t they?

tuxedocat · 12/07/2021 17:00

@Curlymam88 no she didn’t say anything about it just that she would send it off ASAP and let me know if there was something. It’s hard to not worry isn’t it! I know logically I shouldn’t but when there’s a slight risk you hyper focus don’t you. She was a lovely MW so I’m hopeful I’ll hear soon if I need to

Curlymam88 · 12/07/2021 17:06

@tuxedocat yea it is difficult. Maybe give her a ring in a few days. It's hard going just waiting about and worrying.

jade0881 · 12/07/2021 17:56

I agree with @Curlymam88 give her a call by Thursday. I hope all is well

Thanks ladies. I’ve had a rubbish day ontop of this so it really didn’t help. I’m sure tomorrow I’ll feel better about it and wait and see what happens.

burtle4 · 12/07/2021 18:33

Sorry to hear today's been a rubbish day @tuxedocat, I'm sure you'll hear from the midwife in the next couple of days and all will be well. It's just so hard not to worry and automatically assume the worst, I often wonder when the worrying will stop!

lovebeingmum9 · 13/07/2021 07:11

@tuxedocat I hope you get answers today or soon to put your mind to rest! x
Unfortunately the worry never ends...even after you give birth the worry is still there and continues to be through nursery, school and thereafter! lol when I had my 16wk app last week I got to hear heartbeat but it was terrifying as the mw took around 10mins swiping doppler over my belly and couldn't find the heartbeat! She called another mw in to try and thankfully she found it but all for 5 seconds until it disappeared again.....didn't put my mind to rest but because this is my 5th I can feel baby fluttering around inside so thats lovely and reassuring! x

Hey everyone! Congrats all who have found out!!!

We’ve found out we are having a baby boy!! We are so excited! Our friends threw us a surprise party, we just thought it was going to be dinner for us 4 and cut a cake and find out but no! It was amazing!

My other half lost his dad last year so it feels like he’s given us this amazing present!!

Hope everyone is doing well!xxx

jade0881 · 13/07/2021 12:54

Hey there Smile
I'm due on the 26th of December, Boxing Day baby. This is my first baby so although am excited as quite anxious. I'm struggling with pre natal depression this was something no one had ever mentioned to me so I felt so guilty for having worries, for feeling sad, being overly anxious, not being as happy as I thought I would be. Has anyone else been feeling this way?

tuxedocat · 13/07/2021 14:56

Thanks ladies for all your well wishes and thoughts.
The midwives called to say the protein is very high and they’re concerned. They’re putting me on a broad antibiotic to see if there’s an infection and I have to go back in a week.

@misskatie90 welcome and congratulations. Pre natal depression is very common but not well spoken about. Please don’t feel guilty for feeling any of your feelings, we are here to help you chat about anything and remember you midwife is at the end of the phone. Perhaps give them a call to see if they have any groups or places where you can have a chat about things face to face? Don’t feel bad,‘pregnancy is a wild ride and it’s a huge huge thing. Everything you feel is valid and there is not one part of you that is bad for feeling or thinking it 🧡

jade0881 · 13/07/2021 15:46

@misskatie90 congratulations hun, I'm so sorry to hear what you are doing through. I cannot say I've experienced pre natal depression but I have had times where I've worried and felt down but I just brought that down to the common mood swings. Have you spoke to your midwife? Or gp about this? X

@tuxedocat aww hun, hopefully the antibiotics clear everything up. What kind of protein isit. Did they say anything about pre escampsia

OP posts:
tuxedocat · 13/07/2021 17:36

@jade0881 yes they said it could be pre eclampsia but they’ve never seen it this early which is why they want to check there’s no infection before I head back in next week

jade0881 · 13/07/2021 18:22

@tuxedocat aww hun please do keep us updated. I hope everything will be ok xx

OP posts:
tuxedocat · 13/07/2021 18:35

@jade0881 thanks lovely! Trying to stay level headed, of course I went to the pharmacy to get my antibiotics and they’ve not got it yet!

jade0881 · 13/07/2021 18:57

@tuxedocat that's just typical. Pharmacies are not how they use to be. It's been so hard getting salbutamol pumps
