@Whatshouldbemyusername ah I did the afternoon one! Glad you found it useful too

Quiet day, is everyone nesting?!

Grim, cold weather is making me just want to curl up on the sofa.

FTM question re hospital bag- do I really need a full pack of nappies?! I’m assuming if I’m in for more than 24hours it will be more than just nappies I need so OH would be bringing more stuff in? Am I being REALLY naive?

Jessicapebbles · 23/05/2021 20:15

@HopefulB Nesting is in full swing over here 😂 I’m finding it really funny because I didn’t really “nest” with my first. At least not this much!

I think when it comes to nappies just pack around 10/15 then you’re OH can always bring more things in if needs be? xx

Caz1226 · 23/05/2021 20:18

Hi ladies!
We collected and put up our nursery furniture today and I’ve ordered some lovely bits and pieces to make it more cosey like shelves a rocking chair and things- it’s getting very exciting now!
How’s everyone else’s nursery coming on? Xx

lucyrp · 23/05/2021 20:27

@HopefulB I've been working all weekend unfortunately, as for the nappies I think I packed like 10 which was more than enough for a 2 night stay !

@Caz1226 nursery done apart from shelves, lamp shade and a blind! X

alittlexmasmagic · 23/05/2021 20:33

Oh wow! You're all so organised. We've turfed DS out if the nursery into his own roof... well he took himself there. I've bought a pack of nappies too and that's literally it. Not sure nesting us in my vocabulary 😂

Ready2020 · 24/05/2021 00:22

I'll be in full nursery organising swing after we move house a week on Tuesday. Can't wait to get stuck in.

I had a lovely day with a friend of mine having afternoon tea at the Dome in Edinburgh. Then went to the cinema! What a treat. Probably the one and only time I'll go before baby comes. It was very quiet so felt pretty safe covid wise but I'm sure it'll get busier.

My reflux is getting pretty bad so think I'll mention it to my midwife on Wednesday and see what she says.

ame88 · 24/05/2021 07:35

@Ready2020

Sorry to go over old ground but I think from what I've read the majority of you on here have got or will get the covid vaccine? My partner got his first one today and is horrified that I'm still on the fence about getting it while pregnant. He's pulled the 'its my baby too' line which annoyed me more than it should.

I'm all for vaccines but feel hesitant about getting this one while pregnant as while they can say they haven't seen any reason not to I can't help but follow that up in my head with... so far.

I won't be getting it until the baby is born snd I know many pregnant women are doing the same z please do not feel pressured, do whatever you think is right for you!
notinthestarsigns · 24/05/2021 08:38

We’re hoping our house move will go through before the baby arrives so haven’t done anything about a nursery yet. I’m not stressing about it though because whilst I can see why it would be nice to have it sorted before the baby arrives it’s not something that needs to be ready before given they won’t go in it straight away. I feel like I just need to get work finished and out the way before I can really focus on preparing for the baby’s arrival, only another 7 weeks to go til mat leave!

alittlexmasmagic · 24/05/2021 08:55

@Ready2020 don't wait to mention it to the MW, call the GP and get an Omezaprole prescription. I've got one and by the time I picked it up, baby had moved and I was fine. Better having it & not needing it yet.
I'm so jealous you went to the dome. I remember going there after graduation when it was all decked out for Xmas and thought it the most magical place. xx

biscuitcat · 24/05/2021 09:24

@Caz1226 our nursery is nearly done now - but not remotely because it's necessary as baby will be in with us for the first few months, more because I love decorating and the room was horrible and needed tarting up anyway so it made sense to do now! We've got some furniture we need to paint, which we bought on good old Marketplace, and to hang a shelf and sort lighting, but I think we're there otherwise 😊

9 weeks till mat leave for me now - I slightly wish I could bring it forward but it would be so inconvenient for my work to be short staffed then (they've been so good to me so I'd like to help them too) and I know I'll want the time at the end so I'm going to hold out and hope it goes quickly!

Ready2020 · 24/05/2021 13:55

@alittlexmasmagic thanks I did phone the gp as I thought with me moving house a week tomorrow I might not get the prescription in time before I move if I wait for the midwife. Hopefully getting prescription tomorrow 😊

Only tomorrow left at work then off until 7 June! Woo.

I've been having a fairly itchy bump recently. I've been using more moisturiser to try and calm it a bit.

Ready2020 · 24/05/2021 13:56

Thanks @ame88 it's still got my mind spinning. I'll need to call and cancel my vaccine appointment anyway as its after we move house so I'll speak to them then about going on the list in the council I'm moving to.

BertieBotts · 24/05/2021 17:39

We've moved a wardrobe from one bedroom to the other so I've been sorting baby bits :o so exciting! Also managed to chuck out the old obsolete changing table, crib we didn't like and baby bouncer and useless baby bath :o Someone took the bouncer, bath and possibly the crib? I can't tell. In Germany there is a day once every six months where you can put your old stuff out on the kerb for your neighbours to take. Anything left over the next morning gets taken away in a big lorry to the tip.

This is a great idea!
lucyrp · 24/05/2021 19:49

Only got 10 weeks until my maternity leave but pretty sure il end up early again so maybe only 10 weeks until baby is here which is pretty scary! Had my 28 week appointment today and my bump is measuring above the top percentile so got to wait until next appointment to see if it's getting too big and then might get sent for a scan if that's the case. Had my bloods done and she's going to check liver function for me too because I mentioned my gallstones playing up

Mumoftwo2021 · 24/05/2021 19:49

@Ready2020
I’m Not getting it whilst pregnant or after I’ve had baby so your not alone.

We haven’t got a nursery yet the room the baby will have is currently a room I’m using to sleep in, I’m too irritable to share a bed with the OH now 🤣. Then when the baby is here his next to me crib will go in the room with me as OH isn’t taking any paternity. due to being self employed so I’d rather not have to worry about disturbing him in the night.
I’ve bought quite a few bits for baby just need a couple more essentials then I’m done, buying most clothes/outfits when he is here as my first was 7lb and 2nd was 5lb so a bit anxious about which size to buy.
10 weeks to go now 🤪 xx

LottSE20 · 24/05/2021 20:35

@lucyrp what does it mean if it’s measuring above top percentile if you don’t mind me asking? Can it mean baby more likely to come early?

lucyrp · 24/05/2021 20:51

@LottSE20 I can't remember having baby measured last time but think they do it just to check what kind of size baby will be when they're born and that they're following a normal growth pattern

LottSE20 · 24/05/2021 21:31

I seem to be getting pain under my ribs on one side when I’m sat for a long time at my desk working. Has anyone else had similar? And do you think it’s baby position thing or something else?

RunnerGirl123 · 24/05/2021 22:02

Me! I mentioned it on here a couple of weeks back! It's baby's position for me, she's head down and her legs are in my ribs. I'm fine at my desk, but as soon as I try to relax in the evening it gets worse, and driving is really uncomfortable now and it's starting to get distracting. I think I'll be avoiding any long car journeys I have to drive pretty soon.
BertieBotts · 24/05/2021 22:02

Yes I get uncomfortable if I sit leaning over for too long. It's better if I lean back in my chair although I know that's not ideal for baby positioning.

alittlexmasmagic · 24/05/2021 22:19

@LottSE20 is it on the same side you use your mouse? Try repositioning furniture so that your mouse arm isn't stretching forward.
I've put a small table to the right hand side purely for the mouse so my arm is hanging straight down with all movement coming from the elbow. I can then sit back properly in the chair allowing lumbar support to work properly on my back x

LottSE20 · 24/05/2021 22:40

@alittlexmasmagic no it’s the other side, and for some reason only when I am at my desk. Sitting on the sofa is fine but probably because I’m leaning back more. I hope it doesn’t get any worse - was thinking of changing my chair to see if that helped

Angelesque · 25/05/2021 07:50

I’d been asking a few as about the GTT a few weeks ago - had it on Friday. It was way less awful than I’d expected - even the drink was fine (tasted like really cheap cocktail without the booze - like the stuff student bars would use to lure you in!!). Felt a bit sick by end of the two hours, but had ready salted Pringles at the ready and they sorted me out Grin

COVID vaccine... I did choose to have mine ten days ago. I read up in the available research, and based my decision on balancing da) no adverse events reported in thousands of US pregnant women versus b) risks to me and baby if so did catch it. I had Pfizer. It’s a very, very tough decision that everyone seems to have an opinion on - I think you just have to decide for yourself. I do like that it will mean my baby has some antibodies, but I think you can pass these on via BF anyway.
