@Whatshouldbemyusername yes had my appointment which was actually just a retest of my urine from last week. No concerns about chickenpox which is reassuring. Mentioned that I had been having a lot of braxton hicks and increased movements today so was sent off to triage at the hospital for monitoring. Thankfully all ok and felt a bit silly but knew it was right thing to do.

Ready2020 · 12/05/2021 22:09

Oh sorry @Whatshouldbemyusername you put that same link too.

lucyrp · 12/05/2021 22:20

@wimbler braxton hicks already?!😦

Whatshouldbemyusername · 12/05/2021 22:24

@Ready2020 yeah am gonna get the test too x

@wimbler there's nothing silly. It's such sea of information out there plus our bodies are all different. I would have wanted that too to be on the safe side. Last thing you need is sort of anxiety baby related x

@N1985T oh no - definitely not a moaner. Your sister is right. This group helps a lot. All of us are figuring things out together and there's nothing like a silly question here. We're all in the same boat. Are you still getting nausea? Do you know baby's gender? It's my first too. Is it safe to assume your EDD is 21st August? Mine is 22nd august and started my 25 week on Sunday so just did a quick calculation 😊x

N1985T · 12/05/2021 23:11

@Whatshouldbemyusername aww really do you know what the gender ? yeah correct, due at same time then! Been suffering since week 6 with nausea and constant lump in my throat, acne started in week 10ish. they have tried me on different meds for nausea but not helped ! It’s a girl xx I should just be grateful more than anything and I reallllllly am happy but my body just isn’t showing it!

Ready2020 · 12/05/2021 23:36

@N1985T ah its tough when you're happy to be pregnant but have to deal with what your body puts you through. You're allowed to be annoyed at that though BTW and have a moan about it. Yes it's a privilege to be pregnant but it's also very uncomfortable and tests you to the limit! This is my first too and it's not at all what I thought it was going to be like. Not sure I'd want to go through it again! Though once she's here I may change my mind 😁

lucyrp · 13/05/2021 06:52

Well we did 10km on our bikes last night as a family and it took longer than it should have as was making sure DS didn't crash into me and make me fall off my bike, felt good to get our and do some exercising especially altogether while it wasn't raining. However my legs are slightly sore this morning 😖

Smurf123 · 13/05/2021 07:28

I had planned to get the group b strep test in my last pregnancy but after going in for reduced movements it was actually detected in urine sample . So I had the antibiotics in Labour. This time round I was offered the testing on the nhs but the consultant advised that actually it can be negative in one test then positive a few days later when actually in Labour so her advice was to just take the antibiotics again in labour- it means being on an Iv but I'll do whatever it takes to ensure baby is safe.
I think the say to do the test as close Labour as possible to try and get accurate result so after 37 weeks

Whatshouldbemyusername · 13/05/2021 07:28

@N1985T congratulations 💖. As @Ready2020 said pregnancy is a journey. Ofcourse you're happy but yes it can be tough. Be kind to yourself. Also you're doing the best.

It's sad you're still throwing up. I think majority of us went on till week 13-14 and it subsided. Are the meds not helping at all? They must look at other options. The acne could also be a side effect from the meds maybe. X

Whatshouldbemyusername · 13/05/2021 07:29

@Smurf123 thanks for the tip. Yes I'm going to do it after week 36/37 x

N1985T · 13/05/2021 08:36

@Ready2020 Thankyou .. it’s tough isn’t it all I see is people that look blooming .. then there is me 🙊🤣 sorry to hear you’ve had a rough time too, will 💯 all be worth it for you xx

@Whatshouldbemyusername I’m seeing my midwife again next Tuesday so will see what she says! I saw the strep B convo.. I did a swab a few weeks back for something else with midwife and came back positive for strep B. I had a meltdown - never heard of it before xx

Jessicapebbles · 13/05/2021 09:20

@N1985T - I also have really bad pregnancy acne on my face and back so I know how you feel! Never had anything like it, not even when I was a teenager 😭 this is also my first time being pregnant and I don't feel like I would want to do this again. Where is my pregnancy glow ????? 😂

Jessicapebbles · 13/05/2021 09:32

Awww thank you @Daffodil21! Feeling very full now! Xx

Daffodil21 · 13/05/2021 09:47

Finally been feeling some movement now, at 27 weeks! Mostly morning and evening, and not a huge amount. Only at the sides or bottom, so I'm assuming the placenta is doing a good job of blocking any movements in the middle.

But last night I could SEE him moving! I couldn't feel it at all but I could definitely see him!

wimbler · 13/05/2021 10:48

@lucyrp oh god yes I've been getting them since 20 ish weeks. Mainly when i've got a full bladder or when I've been walking for a long time. Fairly normal for me - i was the same last pregnancy. I usually get a handful a day but yesterday they were coming every 15 mins all day Confused

lucyrp · 13/05/2021 10:50

@wimbler I don't think I ever had any with DS so have no idea what they're like 🙈 they sound not nice though!

wimbler · 13/05/2021 11:14

@lucyrp mostly they're painless and all I feel is a tightening sensation and then my bump goes rock hard and very round for 10-20 seconds. Usually makes baby kick like crazy too!

N1985T · 13/05/2021 11:19

@JessicapebblesCongratulations!

@MM1993 bless you i agree it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen - I’m mixed race so it’s left me with dark scars all over my arms back shoulders and face! Absolutely covered. Stay strong .. I hold out hope the glow will come eventually xxx

Ava50x · 13/05/2021 12:08

@N1985T welcome!
sorry you're still struggling with nausea. Mine finally eased at 22 weeks and it was just awful getting through that. Hope it eases for you, have you seen your GP for anti-nausea meds?

biscuitcat · 13/05/2021 12:12

Ugh ladies, I need a proper moan! Went to hospital this morning for a consultant appointment. I had called yesterday to check the time and was explicitly told I wasn't having a scan, so I didn't bring DH. Arrived today - having a scan, and not allowed to video call so he missed it.

They also now take blood pressure at the front of the waiting room, in front of everyone (there must have been 30 people). I get dreadful white coat syndrome, so having blood pressure done just after I'd found out DH was missing a scan and in front of everyone, obviously resulted in high blood pressure. The consultant (who was a patronising so and so) then told me in our appointment I'm too young to have high blood pressure and I was monitored in the day assessment unit where they do it a couple of times over half an hour - and where all readings were totally normal as it was nice and quiet and private. Meant that what I was expecting to be a 15 minute job turned into over 2 hours so I was late for a work meeting which I thought I'd scheduled late enough to be fine. Feeling very grumpy now!!!

And had my suspicions confirmed that baby is breech - they were stomping on my bladder last night very hard so I wasn't at all surprised!

MM1993 · 13/05/2021 12:20

@biscuitcat

Too young to have high blood pressure - is that a thing ? I'm only 27 and always get told I have low blood pressure and a high heart rate but no ones ever mentioned my age

alittlexmasmagic · 13/05/2021 13:02

I'm not surprised you need to moan. I'm surprised they are even allowed to do that publicly, surely you should be offered a private room at least. Obs are taken by HCAs before scans at most of my appointments but they're always done in privacy. Can you complain to Pals?
With regards to the consultant, I'm hoping they were badly phrasing "it's unusual in your age group" but again really annoying. I'm the opposite in that no matter what my age, as I'm overweight they take one look at me expecting it to be high and then struggle to keep the surprise off their face when it's nice and low.
Plenty of time for baby to turn, I'm pretty sure mine is doing somersaults as I've felt little for days, followed be rolling sensations and plenty of kicks today. Thankfully not to my bladder & cervix, I'm so over that feeling.x

WolfMother326 · 13/05/2021 14:35

@biscuitcat that sounds really awful, sorry you had to go through that. My hospital (not my midwife/ob team, but others like blood work etc) have done some very stupid things lately as well, just wish we could be treated with a tiny bit more consideration. Sorry your DH missed the scan too, that's awful about the images. They always let me film mine.
