@lucyrp it's so easy to forget isn't it! I was in a great routine and then just lost it, now making an effort to do them properly as I really noticed a difference when I'd been doing them regularly for a few weeks

lucyrp · 11/05/2021 06:37

@biscuitcat I have never really done them properly so should probably start. I normally do them for a few days consecutively then forget🤦🏼‍♀️

Had a tough night last night and woken up so uncomfortable this morning, can't work out if it's trapped wind or baby sat in a funny place but god I'm so uncomfortable 😩😩😩

Daffodil21 · 11/05/2021 08:58

@lucyrp hope whatever it was has eased off how?!

My baby doesn't seem to notice me doing pelvic floor exercises! Maybe I am doing them wrong :o However no leaks after 2x vaginal births so I seem to be doing something right.

Daffodil21 · 11/05/2021 09:28

Me again, sorry 🙈 you can tell I'm no longer working!

Just wanted to share my absolute swimming costume bargain with you all! I ordered this swimming costume on Amazon (pic below hopefully - I won't post a link as the last one I posted didn't seem to work!). It arrived and was lovely. But anyway there was a leaflet in there for a 'free gift' and the options include a free costume! You have to write an Amazon review which I've done and they've just given me the code to get a freebie, I didn't even have to pay postage and could choose from a few different things (yoga mats etc). I've just ordered it so who knows what's going to turn up as it definitely seems too good to be true! Not sure if the leaflet thing is in all orders but it was in both mine (I ordered two as I really liked it, but I dropped the first one on the floor so obviously I didn't bother picking it up before ordering another!)

Just had to share in case any of you are on the look out for a maternity costume - they're so expensive!

Ah ha! It's nice when you get an answer to a problem. I've been feeling so tired lately. My midwife called today saying my iron is low so I'll get some tablets (don't they make you super constipated!). So at least I know why I just want to sleep all the time!

wimbler · 11/05/2021 11:03

@Ready2020 oh gosh yes iron tablets can wreak havoc in that department. apparently spatone is a great alternative instead. not sure if you can get it on prescription though

The thing to remember with iron tablets though is to always take them with vitamin c (glass or orange juice) as that aids the absorption. (you can get spatone with vitamin c already added) Also it's important to avoid dairy for around an hour either side of taking them as that stops them working as well.

LottSE20 · 11/05/2021 11:15

@Daffodil21 I love that swimsuit! How did the size match up to the chart? I’m a size 12 and looks like I would need a large.

Daffodil21 · 11/05/2021 11:36

@LottSE20 it's lovely isn't it! I no longer feel like a beach whale spilling out of my non maternity suits!

I ordered XL and I'm realistically a 14 I would say. I was a 12 pre-pregnancy but I definitely can't get my arse in my size 12s anymore!

LottSE20 · 11/05/2021 11:42

@Daffodil21 thanks. Yes I was a 10 pre pregnancy but I’d kidding myself if I said the weight gain was limited to my bump! Ah well..

On pelvic floor exercises, I use an app and set an alarm each day to remind me, which seems to work well. And I definitely get the odd kick when I do it (actually last week or so the baby has been super active!)

Whatshouldbemyusername · 11/05/2021 11:59

@Ava50x I got my GTT blood test results - negative for Gestational diabetes. So glad. Hope yours goes well x

Ready2020 · 11/05/2021 12:14

@wimbler oh thanks re spatone. I think I'll alternate that with the tablets so it's less of shock to the system.

I don't have cows dairy (intolerance) and avoid red meat due to constipation generally so maybe it's no shock that my iron is low.

biscuitcat · 11/05/2021 13:12

@Angelesque I hope I'm remembering right when I said I'd update you on the GTT!

Had it this morning and it was really nothing at all to worry about 😊 arrived at the hospital, had bloods taken (she took my 28 week bloods too so I won't need to do them with the midwife next week), then I had the drink and waited around for 2 hours. The drink wasn't unpleasant, tasted a bit like a budget Capri-Sun. Then another set of bloods (from the same vein which stung a bit, but that's because I have rubbish veins and my other arm didn't work), and sent off home (and to eat my banana in the car!). It was really chilled, and actually quite nice to sit for a couple of hours and read my book. Apparently they'll only get in contact if bloods show GD, so no news is good news.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 11/05/2021 13:22

@Ready2020 I'm a recent vegetarian (since found out was pregnant) from a vegan.

Try having kale and collard greens and brocolli and lentils. These help with iron. I've been ok with iron on a vegan diet with just food without having the need to supplement. Hope it helps x

Oh, thank you so much! This is really reassuring. I will definitely take a book!

On the veins thing... I just need to make sure I drink enough water. I’ve turned up for a few bolds appointments slightly dehydrated, and it’s a nightmare getting the blood! My own fault though...

Smurf123 · 11/05/2021 14:18

@Ready2020 I've been told they won't prescribe spatone anymore as too expensive 🙈 but also have you been prescribed iron tablets every day? I was prescribed by consultant to take every other day and when I asked about should I up then to daily as my iron still a bit low I was told that there have been recent studies that show iron tablets can actually be more effective if taken every other day? I don't know the logic behind that but it might be worth asking particularly if you suffer the side effects of daily iron.

Ready2020 · 11/05/2021 14:24

@Smurf123 I've just bought some on amazon to try it out.

I've not got my prescription through yet so not sure what they've said to take. I've not managed to speak directly to my midwife about it as she just left a message on my phone as I missed the call. I'll check out the prescription and give her a call Smile

Ready2020 · 11/05/2021 14:26

@Whatshouldbemyusername yeah probably need to up my green veg intake! Plenty of spinach and lentils (love them) but not so much others.

lucyrp · 11/05/2021 17:28

@Daffodil21 kind of although I just have an overwhelming sense of being uncomfortable and whenever I move there's some sort of ache 😩

Whatshouldbemyusername · 12/05/2021 10:12

Morning my loves.

Is anyone still struggling with bloating? Mines really bad. I suppose it's coz dairy doesn't work with me and it's just soo uncomfortable. Last evening for the first time it was painful! I went for a 35 min walk but didn't help much.

On the bright side, bubba was active this morning. At 25+3 this is a huge milestone for me with my anterior placenta 🥰

How are we all x

wimbler · 12/05/2021 11:39

@Whatshouldbemyusername it's so nice feeling them move isn't it. mine has been doing gymnastics all morning which is pretty uncomfortable. fairly sure it's still breech too based the fact that i'm feeling hiccups in the exact same spot i did with DD.

DD has just come down with the chickenpox which i'm hoping isn't going to be too horrific. Glad she has it now than when there is a newborn in the house tbh but just hope she doesn't suffer too much. Thankfully I had it as a child so no real danger to me I hope although I've messaged my midwife just to check as am supposed to have an appointment this afternoon.

LottSE20 · 12/05/2021 11:41

@Whatshouldbemyusername yes I have an anterior placenta too and it feels like movements have really increased in the last few weeks. My husband felt it for the first time too which was special.

I can’t remember who it was on here who was asking about Anti-D injections. I’ve just found out I do need to have a blood test a few days before - I guess to check if I have the antibodies?

Whatshouldbemyusername · 12/05/2021 11:46

@wimbler bless. Maybe at your next appointment they can check is bubba is breech. Sorry about your little girl. But yes it's best they get it when younger. Hopefully it should be ok for you since you've got them already x

@LottSE20 I know! I woke my husband up at 5am all excited saying "put your hands here!" And he was so excited too 🥲

Is anyone looking to do a private group B strep test at 30+ weeks? I'm thinking of ordering a kit and doing the test myself at 34-36 weeks since it's not offered under NHs. It's only about £50 but you get that comfort knowing all is well x

Ready2020 · 12/05/2021 11:51

I think the was some chat about pelvic floor exercises before. I do mine and can sit for ages squeezing those muscles. However I still feel like I'm about to pee myself for most of the day Blush

I don't know if it's just the way baby is sitting on my bladder or if it's all in my head! But I'm a bit worried that that's it for me now until she's born or even after that if I've done any damage. I wear pads to give myself some reassurance that I won't have an accident but it's still not great.
