@Whatshouldbemyusername I wish someone would just tell me what to do 😂 I don't like this being up to me!!

@Daffodil21, I really wouldn’t worry about transmission in hospital. Hospital acquired cases were very low in the NHS. Many areas have now also had CQC visits checking their protection measures.

I’m excited already stated my pro vaccination bias. It is a personal decision based on your own risk factors during pregnancy (I’ve not had it). I’d definitely recommend your hubby getting it if he’s not wfh. I’d love to understand your MW basis for saying wait 3m after. The last I read suggested vaccine is not passed through breast milk but antibodies are. My current thinking is to have it ASAP after birth.

Ready2020 · 07/05/2021 18:15

I'm in the Borders and moving to East Lothian so think I'll just get it after baby is here. OH wants me to take it now (or when I get offered) but I'm a bit reluctant.

Totally impulse bought 2 movie baby grows from here 😂 Ridiculous price but so cute and right up our street.

Daffodil21 · 07/05/2021 18:15

@HopefulB I am a little worried about hospital transmission as my friend (likely) caught it in hosp and now she has long covid. She is a nurse though so a lot different!

I called the ward and they said to call back on Monday and I can speak to a consultant. It won't be mine as she's on hol but I'm tempted to just do whatever they suggest...!

My vaccine letter just came through. It's booked for Wednesday 😱😱😱

Don't worry I won't go around in circles again on here but I'd better make a decision soon!!

OP posts:
lucyrp · 08/05/2021 12:06

@Daffodil21 my letter came on a Saturday and it was for the following Wednesday but as long as you make a decision the day before you'll be fine they won't mind x

Daffodil21 · 08/05/2021 12:18

@lucyrp I'm going to speak to a consultant on Monday (unfortunately mine is on hol next week) and my midwife when she's back on Tuesday then decide. I expect I'll go from one decision to another 100 times a day before then though!

I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered car seat and buggy!

Mountain buggy swift with cocoon and a Joie isize 360.

biscuitcat · 08/05/2021 20:25

Lovely bumps ladies 🥰

How exciting @HopefulB! Did you have fun choosing them? Ours arrived this week, I was like a kid at Christmas - weirdly it doesn't feel any more real with the stuff in the house but I'm definitely more excited now

Jessicapebbles · 08/05/2021 21:02

I’ll jump on the Vaccine chat - @Daffodil21 I felt exactly the same before having my vaccine, I just wanted someone to tell me yes or no so I can totally understand.

I had the AZ before the guidance changed, baby is 100% healthy with 1 head, 2 arms and legs haha! I decided it was best to have mine as I have a compromised immune system from having Crohn’s disease. My hubby is a school teacher and coming in to contact with various kids/parents and unfortunately I am unable to work from home. All these factors combined led me to thinking the jab was best.

I didn’t feel a thing at all and had no symptoms after having the jab. As I was vulnerable, they offered my husband his jab there and then too (he was not as lucky with no symptoms but only felt rough for a day or 2).

I feel great now having a little bit of peace of mind that we’re a bit more protected now.

Love the bump photos - I’ll add my most recent one although I think it was a few weeks ago!

Smurf123 · 08/05/2021 21:14

@Jessicapebbles thank you! You've given me a bit of reassurance... Mines booked for tomorrow. Been going round in circles but I think I'm going to take it. I'm a teacher and while I've been given the OK to work from home now dh is also in schools and he's with secondary kids so potential to carry it home is there.

Jessicapebbles · 08/05/2021 21:20

@Smurf123 - I’m so glad I’ve helped you. It’s such a hard decision to make but you sound quite similar to me in the fact that your hubby is still in contact with people. Nerves are normal before as of course it is all so new. I hope your mind is put at rest after you’ve had it ❤️

Daffodil21 · 08/05/2021 21:43

@Jessicapebbles @Smurf123 it's so difficult isn't it! I've changed from 'I'm definitely having it' to 'I'm definitely not having it' a million times today! I just don't know what to do and I hate that this decision is on me.

Very exciting @HopefulB !!

Jessicapebbles · 08/05/2021 22:01

@Daffodil21 I wrote down a list of positive and negative “facts” (so that I didn’t go overboard and write down that my baby will be born with 6 eyes if I have the jab haha) and this really helped me weigh up my thoughts. Make whatever decision is right for your personal circumstance xx

lucyrp · 08/05/2021 22:17

mostly everyone around me has now either had one of their vaccines if not both. i work in travel and tourism/ retail so will be subjected to close contact with people right up until 38 weeks which i'm totally okay with as the right things will have been put in place to keep me safe. my OH is a carpenter so is around different people all of the time, even going into their houses but he has had both his vaccines. i have declined mine for the time being but if i was not pregnant i would have had it by now and i'm hoping to have it as soon after baby is born as possible all being well and depending on what research or outcomes are known by then. if i had underlying health conditions i probably would have had it whilst pregnant as that's another risk factor but yeah not having it for the time being. i'm by no means an anti vaxer at all and feel a bit ungrateful not having it when offered 🙈

EJT89 · 09/05/2021 15:01

Lovely bump photos everyone!

Long time lurker here, having found this group so useful with advice recently and reassurance in the first trimester.

hoping to ask for your thoughts on an infant carrier car seat - i.e one that you can easily take in / out of the car, and possibly attach to your pram frame? FTM here and not sure if it would be a massive help, or just an unnecessary purchase?!

We were considering the maxi-cosi Mica 360 which isn't removable but am now not so sure if we're over-looking the 'removable' element!
