@swiftt I'm 37 weeks and feel some really strong movements still, like hard bits of body poking out and big rolls, especially in evening or laying down.
I guess it's just working out what normal for you is.
I find the hiccups weird because they're quite low in my pelvis where the head is.
Haven't dropped yet though (ftm) so I think baby is in for the long haul!

@Nesski I'm 37+4 and baby has dropped and it's head is engaged, but to be honest I don't feel much difference. Still getting heartburn, still feeling like there isn't enough room for food & feeling burpy, still breathless. All this is now accompanied by head buts to my cervix!

Still feeling plenty of movement too, nothing reduced. It's more forceful and deliberate due to lack of space I think.

Nesski · 15/05/2021 23:05

@airrrr yes it's sugar that makes me feel particularly sick actually! Toast with jam really kicked off my miserable days of indigestion so have switched to use butter or peanut better. A lot of waddling has been going on, sharp pains by my cervix, alongside with period like pains and then just the constant constant peeing due to the pressure! Lots of Braxton Hicks in the evening as I'm winding down in bed!

@Mackie2020 I was hoping for some respite if the baby had dropped, I can't even present a PowerPoint at work without the random breathlessness and heart palpitation episodes, although it's not all the time and usually in the morning weirdly Confused.

Needing a hand hold. Went for dinner with a nurse friend who ended up taking me into hospital after feeling unwell at dinner. I've be slowly swelling this week, my blood pressure rocketed and now think I have emerging pre-eclampsia. Being admitted until they can get blood pressure down or babys coming out Confused

Humpty11 · 16/05/2021 02:52

@Fishingforhappiness sending you a hand hold and thinking of you 💜, you’re in the best place for you and baby to be monitored in case you do have pre eclampsia. How many weeks are you? Have they given you any medications to bring it down? Try and get some rest; I know it’s hard in the hospital and when you’re worried too. 💐

Jinglebells87 · 16/05/2021 05:21

@Fishingforhappiness I hope you are OK. Like @Humpty11 said, you are in the best place to be right now.
I don't really have much advice apart from take it easy and be kind to yourself Flowers. Keep us posted xx

Penny2020 · 16/05/2021 05:22

@Humpty11 sorry to hear this! On the positive thank goodness you were with a nurse who recognised it and you’re in the right place, even if you might not want to be there. Try not to worry, they’ll look after you so all you need to focus is on resting and that you’ll get to meet your little baby soon, one way or another.

@Nesski I also felt like this at 36w, utterly miserable and not sure how I’d cope for another month but weirdly since then I’ve had this burst of wellness and energy. Now 38w, Heartburns been aggressive all pregnancy but assume baby has dropped so it’s not been too bad, aching pretty much stopped for the past week and in a great mood. Aches starting to come back but look to the positive, maybe you’ll get a week or twos break soon as well!

Fishingforhappiness · 16/05/2021 06:17

Thanks all. I've started medication. Now 36+2, I'm with you about being miserable. Also exhausted. The woman in the bed next to me certainly can snore. adds ear plugs to maternity bag

Nesski · 16/05/2021 06:24

@Fishingforhappiness looool yes I have been recommended to pack those aswell! Did the docs diagnose you with anything in the end?

@Penny2020 groin pain (maybe PGP?) Comes and goes, the last two days I've been in a lot of pain after a bit of walking in the park, it's just very frustrating having to be locked in the house really.. although to be fair, it's meant to be pissing it down the next week so maybe not so bad to stay at home..

Fishingforhappiness · 16/05/2021 06:53

@Nesski yes, hypotension. Which they think is emerging pre-eclampsia. I have a strong family history of it. They have started medication to try and bring it down, waiting for it to kick in. I need a growth scan today to check if my placenta is working properly and she's growing, or if I'm just all fluid. They are going to give me a blood pressure monitor for home and midwife 3 x a week if okay. If not, or my blood pressure doesn't come down enough, we will have a conversation about getting her out. I think i've kissed goodbye to my water birth.

Lovethatjourneyforme · 16/05/2021 07:24

I haven't dropped yet, baby still looks really high. The constant burping when I lie down is driving me crazy though, kept me up until 1.30am last and then I seem to have lost the ability to sleep past 6am anyway.
I'd thought mine was dairy related, hadn't really thought about sugar! Will try cutting that down (don't think I can cut it out entirely 😅)

swiftt · 16/05/2021 07:40

@TerryRose @Nesski yeah, I’m definitely still feeling movements and some are very strong like little limbs sticking out and rolling around etc. But there seems to be more quiet periods too. I’ll keep an eye on it and go get checked over if it reduces. I’m just wary because I got told if I go in for reduced movements again after a certain point, they’ll want to induce me and I don’t want that! But obviously I’ll get seen if I’m concerned. Just so hard to know what’s normal and what’s not. This baby loves a lazy day!

PinkPlantCase · 16/05/2021 08:10

Just catching up on the thread!

@Fishingforhappiness I started hand expressing on Monday when I turned 36 weeks. I get between 0.3 ml and 0.9ml each day so it varies quite a lot. I don’t leak but when I express is it there!

I’m sure you’ve got other things on your mind now but if they do need to bring baby early then whatever you’ve managed to express will be so helpful! Best of luck x

@AlRRRR I never wear a bra either and have been wondering what to do when leaky boobs happen. I have a problem with my back and neck and it’s been so much better since I gave up the bras so don’t even really want a vest top with the shelf in that does up tighter under the boobs. I’ll have to see how it goes.

AlRRRR · 16/05/2021 08:20

@PinkPlantCase I have found some lightweight crop tops that have no wire and are verrrry minimal, I’ve ordered one to try :) I have a size C cup think so I guess it depends how big your boobs are 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

MimiDaisy11 · 16/05/2021 10:49

@Fishingforhappiness
Hope you're doing well or as well as you can stuck on a ward.
I invested in some noise-cancelling earbuds in case I have to be near snoring or noisy people on a ward. It's a nightmare to feel awful and then have disturbed sleep.

----
On the topic of expressing before the baby is born is there anything to suggest it's good to do it as opposed to waiting for the birth? I've heard of other people doing it but didn't really know why. I guess it could establish the milk supply better. Though I've looked on the NHS website but don't see anything recommending to do it. I'll ask my midwife about it next time I see her.

AlRRRR · 16/05/2021 11:06

@MimiDaisy11 from what I know, some women like to incase there is an issue with feeding or baby being away from mum for first few hours, you can syringe it into them or use a cup?

I’ve not been made aware that expressing before birth can increase milk supple as sometimes it’s just the hormones after birth that release the milk anyway from what I know :)

Nesski · 16/05/2021 11:20

@MimiDaisy11 what @airrrr said, it doesn't give an indication of whether you'll be able to brestfeed or supply, also not everybody can express before babies are here so don't worry about it. I've managed to get a couple of pinprick-sized blobs from one boob a week back but haven't managed to from either boob since, so to save myself from frustration I'll try again a week before due date but only out of curiosity again..

@Lovethatjourneyforme yes to the diary, I've stopped drinking tea and getting milk based coffees but have found it hard to stop buttering my toast! The coffees Inc milk substitutes because I think it's the sugar content of oat milk for example (makes me feel sick too)

PinkPlantCase · 16/05/2021 18:49

@MimiDaisy11 I liked the idea of expressing before the baby comes because it’ll take the pressure off in the first few hours/days after birth. If baby is especially sleepy or has difficulty feeding at first then we won’t need to do any formula top ups.

Equally if me and baby are separated for any reason then I’ll already know how to hand express and have a supply ready in the freezer if I’m especially poorly and can’t.

Tbh though best case scenario is that we don’t need to use it at all but I like having it as a safety net if we do.

@AlRRRR I’ll have to have a look. I want to avoid the pulling on my shoulders. I was a C/D before. No idea now 😂

Sitchervice · 16/05/2021 19:28

Just did my Step B test.

Fingers crossed it comes back Neg :)

Humpty11 · 16/05/2021 19:53

@Sitchervice has your midwife sorted this out? I was wondering about if they test for it now the other day, I didn’t have a test in my last pregnancy but wondered if anything had changed! Fingers crossed it’s negative!

Nesski · 16/05/2021 20:27

@Humpty11 they don't do the test routinely on the NHS, which I find rather ridiculous...

Mine got picked up at 22 weeks when I had some bleeding and they did a swab...

Sitchervice · 16/05/2021 20:34

@Humpty11 it's done privately sadly. They should have it as routine though!

sundowners · 16/05/2021 20:42

Fishingforhappiness how was being on a ward? As I need to go in for induction in 10 days.
Re. water birth I think very few ever end up working out, for both my previous DC the option also went out window.

Nesski · 16/05/2021 20:54

@sundowners how are you feeling about it all? All prepped and ready?

Fishingforhappiness · 16/05/2021 21:39

@sundowners ward is okay..they managed to get my BP down with medications, in still and inpatient but allowed me home for a few hours this afternoon to sort bits out. I'm in a bay on my own now... much quieter! Midwives are lovely. Awaiting on a new scan tomorrow. Had a CTG a a few hours ago.. it showed some uterine contractions, I can barely notice them. As to the ward, we were both swabbed. I wear a mask when going to loo etc but not in my bedspace. My husband can visit 2-6. But he works 2- midnight 🙄 but really hoping they will let me home tomorrow if I'm still stable..then induction on Friday at 37/40 if all is well. If either of us decline again I will have a csection asap
