I've had 3 miscarriages back to back after my daughter that's 2 now. My doctor said it's probably because I'm to old and that my eggs are to old and bad now.

I think you need to speak to a different GP too....

19thNamechange · 16/04/2021 17:44

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I got pregnant naturally at 39 and gave birth when I was 40. I have 2 friends that gave birth at 44 and 45 respectively. Good luck x

LiveLuvLaugh · 16/04/2021 18:21

Yes I did older than this.

Maggiesfarm · 16/04/2021 18:30

Of course you can, lots of people do. Your doctor should not have said that to you without evidence. Many people miscarry and then go on to have a normal pregnancy.

Coachee · 16/04/2021 18:45

I had fertility issues in my 30s that seemed to have disappeared at 39/40 as I’ve conceived twice. I have a blood clotting issue that causes miscarriages (I’ve had 4) but currently 16 weeks with DC2 age 40.

It’s extremely dismissive of your GP to just assume it’s age causing miscarriage. You should push for investigation. I’m under the care of the recurrent miscarriage clinic and they’ve never cited age as an issue.

feistymumma · 16/04/2021 19:13

45 and natural pregnancy over here so 39 is definitely possible

Echobelly · 16/04/2021 19:17

Sorry for your losses.

A friend started her family a 43 and has two kids, naturally conceived, so it is very possible and I agree your doctor is awful and dismissive. It is possible for most 39 yos to get pregnant and I do think sometimes now people act as though it's some miraculous fluke that any woman over 35 conceives, which is not the case at all.

Mintjulia · 16/04/2021 19:18

Oh Yes! .

I got pregnant naturally at 44 after having 1.5 ovaries plus a Fallopian tube removed. After gynaecologist told me he was sorry but I wouldn't be having a family. Grin

It was a (lovely) shock.

BML123 · 16/04/2021 19:21

Started TTC at 36 three miscarriages and conceived at 39. I would suggest trying to prepare your body to conceive lower stress, don’t overexercise, eat nutritious healthy organic balanced diet, cut down on caffeine and alcohol. Avoid any plastics and harmful chemicals in plastic water bottles, cosmetics, shampoo etc and take folic acid.
Good luck x

Mintjulia · 16/04/2021 19:23

Op, it sounds like your gp is being a dismissive arse. Just because he is a gp does not mean he has 2nd sight. If he hasn't done any tests, he cannot know.

I'd find yourself another doctor.

notagainmummy · 16/04/2021 19:25

My mother was 40 when I was born and 45 when my sister was. Both of us healthy

I'm honestly shocked your GP said this, unless they have done a lot of investigations and tests that you don't mention in your OP?

Lots of people get pregnant at your age. Yes, some have issues due to age, but that shouldn't be assumed in your case until they have done enough tests - whereas this comes across as a flippant (and hurtful) remark from your GP.

Please ensure you find another doctor that can help. I wish you all the best.

Navarone2 · 17/04/2021 06:53

Can I ask why you took progesterone ?

Navarone2 · 17/04/2021 07:01

Hi everyone ,

Just reading all the messages, great gear positivity around conceiving in this age group

I am just gone 39, have been TTc for 14 months now. I have 3 children ( born in my 20s) but really want a fourth.

Not overly obsessing about it but staring to think somethings wrong

Regular cycle, all tests clear but partners motility test 5 months ago was 28% progressive which is below the bracket

Have been in touch with clinic but woujj me d like to conceive naturally

Have anyone any advice ?

Firstly I’d tell your partner to take steps to improve sperm count if he hasn’t already - avoiding hot baths, taking vitamin supplements and reducing alcohol intake.

Do you track ovulation? I’d recommend doing it to get a sense of your cycle. I personally think it makes it easier not to obsess or put a ton of pressure to have very frequent sex over a longer period.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 17/04/2021 07:21

Conceived naturally just after my 39th birthday. Used an ovulation tracker to help. The result is currently sitting on the sofa playing Hey Duggee games on his tablet. 😁

Skedall · 17/04/2021 09:16

I conceived naturally the first month I tried at 38

Starlight39 · 17/04/2021 09:28

So sorry for your losses Flowers. After 3 mc your doc should absolutely refer you to the recurrent mc clinic for investigation. Totally unhelpful of them to just say your eggs are too old! I started trying for my second at 39, had 3 mc and was waiting for an appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic when cOvid happened and it was cancelled. We were debating whether to stop trying till I could get an appointment when I ended up pregnant again. This time I took 150 mg aspirin from when I tested positive till I was 37 weeks pregnant and the result is now 2 months old, sleeping next to me. I was also told by a consultant that a doctor would have prescribed progesterone up to 12 weeks but I didn’t realise so didn’t have that. I honestly think the aspirin made all the difference for me. I gave birth when I was 41 and aside from the aspirin, it was an easy and text book pregnancy.

beguilingeyes · 17/04/2021 09:29

My aunt got naturally pregnant at 49! Total shock. Her youngest was 16.

Oldraver · 17/04/2021 09:33

I conceived on my 4th cycle at 40. DS 2 was my 9th pregnancy

Skedall · 18/04/2021 16:39

I should add this was after having some hormone tests which suggested that my ovariies were about to give up (and sure enough at 42 I was menopausal

LunaaSol · 19/04/2021 09:42

Has anyone got pregnant naturally after 41?

justanotherneighinparadise · 19/04/2021 10:24

Yes but unfortunately the baby was disabled so I had to have a TFMR. However there are many women having healthy natural pregnancies at 42, 43, 44, I just wasn’t one I’d them sadly.
