Are these photos a sign of miscarriage?

I just don't know what's happening with me, it's all new to me!! I am 3 weeks, 3 days today.

Hi OP, just want to echo what other PPs have said. Bleeding in pregnancy should never be ignored, and it looks as though you are further along than you think.

Skip your doctor and speak directly to someone at the EPU. Tell them how much you have been bleeding, that you are still getting positive pregnancy tests and that you are probably at least 6 weeks pregnant.

Tell them you are worried about an ectopic pregnancy. Please get this checked out.

HPmagic · 16/04/2021 17:31

Are you able to book a private scan at all. Something to look into if you can afford it.

ellxabellsx · 16/04/2021 18:09
@ellxabellsx but if you don’t know when you became pregnant that is enough on it’s own, even without the bleeding, to get you a scan now.
I would cut out the GP entirely and ring epu. Presumably you are booked in for a scan with them anyway. Explain that you think your dates are wrong and that you are now 6 weeks ish.
Alternatively with on/off bleeding and positive tests I would go to A and E with the NICE guidance on ectopic pregnancy in my hand. You meet the criteria for HcG tests and a scan.
It is probably not an ectopic but if it is (and I will be really scary now) you could be haemorrhaging internally without knowing it and go into shock.

Do you have pain anywhere at all? In your shoulder?
no pain at all @ActonBell 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

All I can say is call epu or 111 or think about A&E. You need to be seen urgently. Please don’t wait a fortnight.

@ActonBell I am getting really bad morning sickness this morning 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi op I'm so confused because 2-3 weeks on a digital actually means 2-3 past your missed period so if you were 2-3 on digital you would be more than 2-3 weeks if you see what I mean?

MamaMoonbeam · 18/04/2021 08:55

I don't want to seem mean, but you might be feeling sick through blood loss? Have you considered going to A&E? I don't think it's normal to bleed that much for so long.
Fingers crossed everything is ok but I really wouldn't be waiting until 26th for a resolution to your situation hun xx

ActonBell · 18/04/2021 09:02

@ellxabellsx - yes, because you are pregnant. Your body is producing HcG and that is triggering the other hormone changes that cause symptoms like morning sickness. An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy and you can have plenty of normal pregnancy symptoms.

I can understand wanting to wait and hope for the best. Again, there’s every chance nothing is wrong but you won’t know until you get checked out. Unfortunately women often have to fight to get their symptoms taken seriously. Trust yourself - wouldn’t it be better to push a little now and get an answer sooner rather than later?

Remember there’s a 99% chance you are at least 6 weeks pregnant now.

CimCardashian · 18/04/2021 09:03

It’s possible it could have been twins and that one hasn’t made it?

In my experience the medics won’t scan too early because there are many many early miscarriages and also a heartbeat can’t be seen anyway until 6 weeks ish (possibly 7 I can’t remember).

ActonBell · 18/04/2021 09:06

The other thing that needs to be ruled out is a molar pregnancy which can present with bleeding and sickness.
www.tommys.org/baby-loss-support/molar-pregnancy-information-support

If nothing else if you wait until the 26th and they tell you you’re 8 weeks+ (entirely possible) you’ll be due your first appointment with the midwife already. Why not press for some clarity now?

Btw, the fact that you are having morning sickness ties in with you being 6 weeks+ as this often (though not always) develops in the middle of the first trimester.

GreenSlide · 18/04/2021 10:50

Have you not rang EPU yet OP? The information you've given about your dates is confusing so the GP probably thinks you're earlier on than you actually are. You've been bleeding for weeks - you need medical attention.

Kona84 · 18/04/2021 11:30

I miscarried at 8 weeks last year and continued getting positive tests for 4 weeks. You could ask for a referral to an Early pregnancy unit.

@MamaMoonbeam Been to A&E 2 times and they sent me away with nothing, been doctor's 3 times and they have said wait til 6 weeks...

EdgeOfACoin · 18/04/2021 16:43

Your doctor sounds like she doesn't know what she is talking about if she thinks you got pregnant straight after your period.

Did they give you a scan at A&E to rule out anything serious?

If not, please phone the EPU and tell them that you are still bleeding, that you may have had your dates wrong and there's a good chance you are 6 weeks along already.

ActonBell · 18/04/2021 16:46

I’m so sorry you’re being fobbed off. I think the main thing is to call back epu and tell them you have checked your dates and you are definitely further along that you thought. Tell them you don’t know when exactly your last period was but by the dates you dtd you must be at least 6 weeks. Cut through all this stuff about timings. The worse that can happen is they see you and the results are inconclusive so you have to wait and go back later. The best that can happen is you will get some answers and any treatment you need now.

Is there anyone who could support you in not taking no for an answer? Can you have your most ‘take no shit’ friend on zoom whilst you make the phone call? They will need to talk to you directly so I doubt someone else can speak to them for you but you have to insist. It’s your body, your life, your pregnancy and you meet the criteria for a scan right now.

helpmemakeit · 18/04/2021 16:59

I think your epu are negligent. I was scanned same day with similar symptoms 13 years ago and then every day for 3 days. Can pals help?

@ActonBell I will get my partner to call on behalf of me, he will tell them straight! I'll call them first thing in the morning

I'm really glad to hear that, OP.

It needs to be checked out, even if it turns out not to be serious. You shouldn't have been treated so dismissively.
