Joining in on the December baby party!
First time pregnant, just getting used to all of this but think I'm 5 weeks tomorrow.
It was a BIG surprise, can't think about anything else now though!

Struggling a little as always thought my OH would be super excited. He keeps saying he feels like I've told him a friend is pregnant and not us.
So thought I'd post in here for the company and the pregnancy chat with people who actively want to talk about it! Ha!

theivfnewgirl · 12/04/2021 18:50

Thank you Fuzzypup! I totally agree, it’s been a tough few years of uncertainty but I’m hoping for the next 8 months to be a breeze - I deserve it 😂😂

amysaurus87 · 12/04/2021 18:57

Anyone who is having their 2nd baby finding that they already look pregnant?

I'm just under 5 weeks but I swear I already have a bump, I mean I'm heavier this time round anyway, but I keep seeing a bump even at this stage!

Am I going mad?

Babycakes39 · 12/04/2021 18:59

@amysaurus87 this is my third and I feel massive already! Husband asked me if I had got my dates right! Think it's just bloating at this stage but I feel about 6 months pregnant atm 😅

NoCallerID · 12/04/2021 19:10

Haha to be fair I felt I was showing with my first at 6 weeks because I was soooo bloated. Second pregnancy I started showing around 12 weeks (first I popped at 15 I think...) This time I feel like I'm showing but it's definitely only bloat 😅

amysaurus87 · 12/04/2021 19:27

Rationally I know this is bloating, but we haven't told anyone yet so I'm paranoid about looking pregnant! Especially as this is such a surprise pregnancy...I was literally telling my boss last week that another child wasn't on the cards yet....and here we are!

We are telling family in a week or so, its my little boys 3rd birthday this week and I want all the focus to be on him after the crappy covid year we've had!

PurplePinkParade · 12/04/2021 19:40

I'm the same with a bump already, it's actually ridiculous!! I know it's obviously bloat etc not baby but honestly, I look the same amount of pregnant as I did at 5 months with DD!
I only started showing around 20 weeks last time, I worry I'm going to be enormous this time. Only 5+5 today!

BrodieKD · 12/04/2021 20:27

I feel very bloated too. My nipples have completely changed and my boobs have gotten veiny😊 It's quite incredible how much the body changes so quickly.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 12/04/2021 20:28

I feel bloated, but I might just be eating more Blush. I’m only either 4 or 5 weeks... I can’t wait to find out for sure. I do keep putting my hands on my stomach subconsciously.

Is there a “standard” time that you start to show? DH wants to avoid telling his parents for as long as possible, as his mum is quite anxious and will be very excited but very full on. I think he’d quite like to just pop up with the baby Grin but is 12 weeks the max we’d really get away with?

I’m so excited. And nervous, and scared. But I can’t wait for a scan!!

amysaurus87 · 12/04/2021 20:36

With my first I didn't really start showing until 17/18 weeks. Everyone will carry and show differently a friend of mine was was pregnant at the same time as me didn't really show until she was almost 7 months gone...I was huge by this point!!

climbershell · 12/04/2021 22:04

@TakeYourFinalPosition I think it depends, if you're a slimmer build I think it's likely you'll show earlier... I'm athletic and lean so I may show earlier, but I plan to wear baggy tops and hide it from customers as long as possible! I reckon people could just think I've put on a bit of weight rather than pregnant hopefully til about 20 weeks.

Going by googling pregnancy progression photos, some could get away hiding it for 25 weeks, some only 16...

flowersatthecastle · 12/04/2021 22:46

@Nellieee thank you for your concern but I really didn't mention that my midwife couldn't ask domestic violence questions because it's an issue for me - it was just a point of information for others. If the midwife can't ask at the booking appointment they are obliged to ask at some point during the course of your pregnancy when you are alone.

mrslewis2015 · 12/04/2021 23:17

Definitely ‘showing’ faster this time around! I was much thinner 6 years ago, but I had a neat obvious bump by about 10 weeks and was HUGE from then on. Like huge huge... people did the whole ‘not long now’ from about 6 months, it was ‘fun’. This time....I’m larger anyway and have IBS so all bloat all the time but feel different huge already. Even in the mornings before eating etc I have a definite little bottom belly bloat bump!

Nellieee · 12/04/2021 23:30

@flowersatthecastle I'm sorry, I completely misunderstood that. I agree though. I hope that they are trained well enough to read the signs, although they are not always obvious.

amysaurus87 · 13/04/2021 07:02

On the DV questions, when I had my first whenever I saw my midwife they had red stickers in the toilets so if you were accompanied by an abusive partner you could put a sticker on the front of your notes and they would know you were in an abusive relationship and find a way to get partner to leave the room to ask about it.

Horehound · 13/04/2021 09:01

@flowersatthecastle that is strange because when I had my first appointment my midwife told me "at this point we ask the partner to leave the room but since yours isn't here I can ask directly if there's any DV"

And also after the baby was born my HV asked on two occasions about it.

Should be 5 weeks today. However, my 'keep peeing on sticks to pass the time to my booking appointment' plan has backfired.
I took a test yesterday and the line was really faint and nothing like the BFP that came up last week in about 10 seconds. Took another digital test first thing this morning and it says 'not pregnant'.
Aunt Flo is due in 4 days so I'm going to wait and see what happens then, unless anyone else has any suggestions? Never had the nausea symptoms but the crushing tiredness and brain fog is still here.

Were you getting daily positives until yesterday?
d1ver · 13/04/2021 10:15

@TreeRoad I got a positive (2-3 weeks) last Wednesday, another BFP last Thursday and then called the Midwife and stopped testing.
Yesterday was a faint line, but positive, and today was a digital 'not pregnant'.

Don't really know why I decided to start testing again. I think it was probably just for reassurance since the cramps had stopped and the bloatedness had gone down.

MushroomQueen · 13/04/2021 10:25

Hello all! I'm tentatively joining. Since November I've had 3 positive pregnancy tests. 2 of which were chemical and AF arrived cd 29 and there was no sign of a line after. My first chemical pregnancy ended the same day I had Covid symptoms and I tested positive for that early December. I think my body hasn't recovered properly before my positive test in January as it was gone on cd29 again. Every period I get a migraine and so I know. Today I am cd29, a slight headache but definitely not a migraine. Here is my tests 11dpo and yesterday 14dpo and that's with afternoon wee. So I'm just 4 weeks but starting to believe it's a sticky one. I've got 2 ds's age 4 almost 5 and 7yr. No issues having them. So I'm hoping I'll stick around longer this time

@d1ver really hoping for good news for you!!

Can I ask, did anyone have any spotting before/after BFP? I had some v light spotting on three separate days before. Dark brown. I'm not too worried (but did think it was the start of my period before I tested).

Also, how do you feel? I'm 4w2d, and feel slightly nauseous (although wonder if this is in my mind..!) and also feel a sort of pressure in my pelvis. Not really cramps, but something. It's hard to describe!

wannabemum38 · 13/04/2021 11:44

@d1ver I wish i hadn't tested yesterday as my cheap test was slightly fainter and then I bought a cb digital and it said 2-3 weeks and should be 3+ by now.
I.had a phone appointment with doctor today anyway regarding covid vaccine and he said it could be my hcg isnt increasing which isn't good but I have a scan on Friday. Phone your gp or EPU if worried.

BrodieKD · 13/04/2021 12:02

@Nellieee I had it very slightly and I thought it was the beginning of my af. I got my bfp later on the same day. I haven't had any since thankfully. I am defs boaking more than I used to especially picking up dog poo in the morning. I would say it's around 5pm that I start to feel it most though. I haven't been feeling too bad though - apart from a cold.

@d1ver hope you are ok! You should phone your gp if you are worried.

When should I be counting weeks from? The first day of my last period?

Mammytinx · 13/04/2021 12:13

Hi all Im due my 3rd on 8th Dec just had to self refer to the midwives via online form. So excited for a Xmas baby Smile but soooo worried as its so early xx

TreeRoad · 13/04/2021 12:13

@BrodieKD 100% with you on the dog poo boak! I'm the same 😂
Yesterday was our bin collection day and dodging the smells of the bins on the pavement was impossible when I was out with the dog 🤮.

Unless you had fertility treatment, count from the first day of your last period, yeah.
