@Shazza86 no it's ok I don't think I explained myself well. I had the peak of the V like this ^ and my head at the top and the two arms of the pillow either side of me which helped me sleep a bit upright but also ensuring I couldn't roll. And then baby laying upright on me to sleep.

Could be a tip for someone on this thread in 9 months time lol
To those who are going to be first time mums: it's normal for your baby to not want to sleep anywhere else but on you for quite a long time after birth! It's called the fourth trimester where basically we have to give birth at 9 months or babies would never fit out of us but really to grow a baby is 12 months and so that's why the 3 months after birth is called the 4th trimester.

Don't want to patronise anyone just thinking of stuff that people might find useful.

@Horehound I didn't know that so thank you for the tip! I get what you mean now too. I will join the Facebook group after my 12 scan, hopefully we can all stay in touch once all the little cuties are here 🙂

FuzzyPup · 11/04/2021 22:50

@yankee4953 - fellow Lincolnshire person here! Welcome. 👋🏻

@Horehound I love the fourth trimester! Or at least I did with my first. I am a fan of babywearing, and those early days of having a newborn with their newborn smell snuggle on you, or close or you in a stretchy wrap or sling was an absolute dream! I imagine it might be a bit harder this time around with a toddler too, but I still can’t wait.

Mctm · 12/04/2021 08:02

@Shazza86 thanks so much for all your suggestions. I will definitely take these on board. I do need to change my perspective and think how many successful pregnancies there are!!
I do feel better each day that goes by xxx

Babycakes39 · 12/04/2021 08:15

After my first never wanted to be put down ever I knew I had to do it differently with my second as I had a toddler to deal with as well! I followed Tracey Hogg's The baby whisperer and it was amazing! I loved having a routine and knowing when baby would have sleeps etc so I could plan things with my toddler. I'll definitely be following it again with my third. Xx

Daisydrum · 12/04/2021 08:18

@jdr1234 Hi, I was feeling incredibly nauseous everyday and exhausted, would just fall asleep on the sofa. Then I bought some branflakes and have been having those every morning. And I feel 100x better! I don’t know if I was low on iron or something.
Hope you are feeling better.

climbershell · 12/04/2021 08:20

I'm thinking of getting an early scan as only £50, but definitely not at 6 weeks because the baby can be too small to show, too small for heart beat and too small to show anything in yolk sac, even though perfectly fine, same thing as false negatives that can occur before 13dpo

If I do, I'll wait til 8 weeks. I know I couldn't risk doing it too early and not hear heartbeat, would cause too much stress for me, rather than relieve!

Yesterday, I did another test. Obviously I'm still pregnant... 🤣 thought maybe it was all a dream lol, even though I've constantly got symptoms (cramps, stitch, exhaustion, spots).I have 3 more tests left, bet I'll use them! 🤦‍♀️

mrslewis2015 · 12/04/2021 09:42

Yes to feeling ‘hungover’ keep thinking ‘eurgh I’ll do my accounts etc tomorrow when this hangover clears’ and then instantly remembering I’m not hungover I’m pregnant and I’ll probably have this foggy blugh feeling for a long time 😂😂

And still testing too! Feels like my best connection to baby, despite feeling very very pregnant I just like to see the confirmation! Silly really but seems to calm me down so I’ll do anything to stay positive.

Got my first proper phone midwife call on the 26th so hoping I’ll get a date for my scan then, depending on how long the wait is I might book a private one in the middle as I’m so anxious to see little one!

climbershell · 12/04/2021 12:09

I have just had my first midwife appointment booked in for 9:30 7th May, I'll be approx 8.5 weeks then. She's only in Friday mornings and only had 11:30 free on the 30th which is really inconvenient, so week longer wait. Well under the 10wks so no problem tho

Just checking, I take it I go to this on my own, not with my partner?

BrodieKD · 12/04/2021 12:22

@climbershell my oh asked this too. I'm assuming I'm going on my ken but wasn't sure. Can anyone let me know what to expect at this appointment?

BrodieKD · 12/04/2021 12:22

On my own that was meant to say :)

TreeRoad · 12/04/2021 12:25

RE going alone, it'll depend on where you live and the NHS board and their restrictions. Where I am, it's me and the other parent only. Other areas you can take 2 people.

Definitely double check so you don't go alone unnecessarily. 🙌🏼

Shazza86 · 12/04/2021 12:37

@BrodieKD I have to go alone to mine 🙂

Horehound · 12/04/2021 12:40

Last time around I went to my midwife appointmennts on my own. There's really no need for the guy to go.

Cautiously joining this thread because I'm not 100% sure what my due date is! The receptionist for the midwife thinks mid-December, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I might be 7+5 already and due late-November. I think I probably ovulated late and conceived on or around March 7th , but then did have a real period-type bleed between 20th-24th March (and it was real, heavy flow). Tested positive (2-3 weeks) on 6th April when I took a test to prove to my OH that I wasn't pregnant and that I was just bloated. Surprise!

No real symptoms so far other than feeling absolutely exhausted and being able to cry on demand. Had some severe cramping at the end of last week but that's eased off now.

Can't help but feel a little worried. First midwife appointment isn't until 10th May (when they estimate I'll be 9 weeks) but it just feels a long time away. Might order some more digital tests to keep peeing on in the mean time.

French2020 · 12/04/2021 13:50

Was happy to get my clear blue 3+ today (I’m 5 weeks tomorrow.) After struggling to sleep with breast pain, I wore a sports bra last night which helped a lot. Just in case this helps anyone else 😊

Nellieee · 12/04/2021 16:04

Hi all. Congrats to you all. I'm tentatively joining the Christmas baba gang! I'm 4 weeks today (feels so weird to say this!)... got two bfps but they've not quite sunk in yet, and I'm waiting to do a CB digital later today/tomorrow morning. How on earth are we meant to work?! I've already googled everything under the sun 😂

cloud2021 · 12/04/2021 16:17

Hi all... I am 5+2 and first pregnancy... due 10th of December! I have a midwife telephone appointment next week (not sure what that would be about) so anxious I will probably book an early scan after 7 weeks!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 12/04/2021 16:49

@Nellieee I'm 4 weeks today too!! I've tested every morning since Saturday, and did a CB earlier, but it was a cross one, not a digital one... I've got a digital one with the weeks counter for tomorrow Grin

I'm completely with you on not being able to concentrate at all.

Nellieee · 12/04/2021 17:21

@TakeYourFinalPosition ahh what do you think your due date is? Think I'm 19 Dec. Good luck with the digital tomorrow!! Telling myself there's no point doing it now, and to be patient 😬

theivfnewgirl · 12/04/2021 17:35

Congratulations to everyone’s BFP’s!
I got mine 12 days after embryo transfer and I still can’t quite believe it after trying for 4 years! Think I’m due early December but waiting for the scan - LONGEST WAIT EVER!

FuzzyPup · 12/04/2021 17:42

Hi IVF new girl! I can empathise! The wait for my first was five years between trying and finding out we were pregnant, we had a round of IVF and another type of treatment too! Wishing you the best of luck and not too long of a wait. I found pregnant flew compared to how long we’d been trying!

flowersatthecastle · 12/04/2021 18:25

OH came to my booking appointment for our first baby. I thought it would be exciting but in reality it wasn't. It was useful to have him there to answer medical questions about family history on his side. Other than that it prevented the midwife asking some questions they need to ask around domestic violence, etc.

climbershell · 12/04/2021 18:33

So on top of my bum issues!! Which are, getting worse, 2 big spots, 1 pretty much in the crack, this morning also a rash in my bum!! I now have thrush starting 😖

Nellieee · 12/04/2021 18:35

@flowersatthecastle I'm really sorry to hear this. If you want to talk then this is a safe place. And I'm sure your midwife would agree to seeing you again on your own if you are able to explain why. Look after yourself ♥️
