@TakeYourFinalPosition

Thanks for the warm welcome! I still feel like I’m in a daze. When can you have an early scan?

I so want to tell someone but I also want to keep it secret for as long as I can 🙈

6 weeks is normally the earliest you should do it. Lots of private scan companies won't scan earlier than this.

The heartbeat sometimes isn't visible so early on, which can obviously worry people.
I think the general consensus is to wait until 7 weeks.

mrsawhite · 11/04/2021 14:17

Happy Sunday all. Think could be coming up to 7 weeks mid week. My dates are a bit vague as were my cycles. Boobs are so bloody sore. Does that stop at any point? It did for me last time at 8 weeks but that wasn't a good sign! Also eating like a piglet 😁 doing some painting today so keeping busy!

mrslewis2015 · 11/04/2021 14:38

@FuzzyPup

I’m with you *@mrslewis2015* - quite anxious and definitely can’t quite believe it’s happening. We’re dusting off our old baby shopping list from our first baby though and setting up a house renovations list again.

I never thought I’d be pregnant again. The doctors had completely prepared us for another round of IVF, and I had made peace with our little one being an only child.

Yeah totally get you on that! Ibe been putting off finishing our house renovations and have just booked a few quotes in to try and get back on track!

Same, I was DONE at one, until summer last year when I suddenly wasn’t! Never thought I’d have a nearly 6 year age gap!! Especially after 8 months of hope for little one, still can’t really believe it, despite telling most of our family early this time!

There’s absolutely no hiding this one, im SO bloated already have a little bump, apparently my body is ready to let go 😂 and SO tired and giving Pamela Anderson has a run for her money I’m pretty sure if I didn’t tell they’d have worked it out. Trying to allow myself to enjoy this one as much as possible!

yankee4953 · 11/04/2021 14:46

Hello everyone, hope I am ok to jump in!
First time positive test, married and (bloody!) nervous from Lincolnshire.
Clear blue test came back weeks 2-3 on Friday and now I am so excited 😆. My DH is so excited and wants to tell everyone now. But can anyone please tell me what happens now? Like I will call the Drs on Monday but unsure what happens after.
Thank you x

TakeYourFinalPosition · 11/04/2021 14:52

Thanks @TreeRoad. I’m 4+5 from last period or 3+6 from ovulation strips, so I guess if I wait until the later date says 7 weeks, they could confirm? I’m so excited!

Welcome @yankee4953! I’m the same. Google suggests my doctor doesn’t do anything and I email an address to self refer, and they then book an appointment at 8 weeks (which may still be by phone because of Covid)... but I’ve no idea how accurate that is.

I’m the same as your husband right now. I so want to tell someone, but I also don’t! 😁

BrodieKD · 11/04/2021 15:08

@yankee4953 congratulations! Very exciting! It's my first and I had no idea what to do so I phoned the gp and the receptionist gave me a number to call. I think it was the midwife. They basically take your info and book you in for your first appointment with the midwife at around 8 weeks I think and your 12 week scan. They send your info to the gp and you receive a pack in the mail with the info. I've to go for my 8 week midwife appointment at my local gp.

jdr1234 · 11/04/2021 15:18

I just got my letters through today. I have a zoom midwife on the 1st May by then I will be 9/10 weeks then another midwife on 5th in person (not sure the point of the zoom one 5 days before) then 12 week scan on 19th May.
We haven’t told anyone apart from my mum and best friend but cos I feel so rubbish going to be difficult to keep it secret.
I have a boy and girl already and find boys names much easier...my daughter didn’t have a name for 3 days so any girl names pls throw my way. I’m 99% sure I’m having another girl.

Horehound · 11/04/2021 17:11

I had my scan and it was great! Saw the heartbeat! I'm 6+5 as I thought and due 30th Nov.

Didn't need transvaginal either so just the scanner on my tummy so that was good too!!!

Shazza86 · 11/04/2021 17:23

@Horehound ahhhh I'm so happy for you! I've been thinking about you this afternoon and hoping all went well. What was it like hearing the heartbeat? X

climbershell · 11/04/2021 17:37

@treeroad and @BrodieKD I'm the opposite, huge list of boys names Linden, Flint, Ferris and Forest are my fave atm, only got a couple of girl name ideas! My OH likes more common names and he's French so likes the idea of something Celtic like Ronan, Theo, Noel...

I'm a huge adventurer and want some kind of adventure/nature kinda name!

Horehound · 11/04/2021 18:11

@Shazza86 I didn't actually get to hear anything I don't know if it's too early to be strong enough for a sound? But it was great to see...I cried quote Alot!

OP posts:
TakeYourFinalPosition · 11/04/2021 18:24

Ahh @Horehound, I’m so pleased you got to see!! That’s amazing.

Shazza86 · 11/04/2021 18:45

@Horehound ah yes, I didn't think about that. Awww I bet you did! How truly magical. I'm going to book mine for 2 weeks time I think, I will be 8 weeks then.

I was wondering if anyone has been looking at pregnancy pillows at all? I have to use pillows already as I've had 2 hip operations and recently my back has been spasming. If so, I'm interested to know which one people may buy?

Also, I promised on the previous thread that I would update you on the conversation with my GP. They advised that I cancel my second covid vaccine whilst pregnant.

Horehound · 11/04/2021 18:55

Yeh it's great and they set up an account so you can log in and see photos and videos and download them too :)

I think 8 weeks will be a great time for a scan. I'm just too impatient!

Re. Pillows yes I have a v shaped pillow which I can't remember where I got it from but I'll check. It's really comfy although I didn't use it until well into my last pregnancy

OP posts:
TreeRoad · 11/04/2021 18:58

@Horehound So glad it went well! Logging in online to see your scan is a great idea too. Who'd you book with?

Shazza86 · 11/04/2021 19:28

@Horehound that sounds so exciting, I may book mine tomorrow. Did the pillow help much? I'm looking at the queen rose, it would protect my hips, back and bump, but it's so massive 🙈

Mctm · 11/04/2021 19:43

Hello all, I hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m 5+1. I got my bfp at 4 weeks. I have been reading the December thread but have been too scared to comment as I’ve convinced myself I’m 100% going to mc. My anxiety is through the roof and it’s all I think about!
I’m starting to relax a little though and starting to feel excited.

As someone else said, I do feel guilty having a December baby! 😂
I want to book an early scan at 8 weeks and my OH is really against the idea because we get a free scan at 12 weeks anyway. It’s really hard persuading him but I feel like I can’t wait until 12 weeks 🙈

Horehound · 11/04/2021 20:23

@TreeRoad I went with Babybond :)

@shazza86
Yeh pillow really helped me and also was so handy when I'd given birth because my baby had reflux and also they just want to be on you always in the first few months so the only way we got some sleep was for him to sleep upright on my chest and so I used the pillow to wedge me in bed and baby sleeping on top.was so handy.

Does anyone else seem to feel worse from 5+ weeks ? Last week I was fine just sore boobs but the last few days I almost feel hungover? Envy

Shazza86 · 11/04/2021 20:40

@Horehound I don't think the one I'm looking at would be any good for nursing as it's so massive! My neice had terrible reflux, it was awful for her x

@Mctm I've been very much the same as you. A couple of things that have helped me are; I bought some pregnancy affirmation cards to look at each day. Also I've been doing this breathing meditation on instagram, type in breathpod and all the sessions are stored in his IGTV. Really funky music and lots of visualisation. Loved the whole of February's sessions. Also instead of thinking of the statistics of mc, I've switched it around and think of the statistics for healthy pregnancies. Not sure if any of those may be useful.
Regarding the early scan, put it to him that you being so anxious will make you and the baby more stressed. Having the scan would give you peace of mind and would be better for you and your baby xx

@chloed121 I've felt really good apart from the massive sore boobs, but I think sone of the others have been feeling it like you x

Horehound · 11/04/2021 21:14

@Shazza86 no I didn't use it for nursing just for sleeping! www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-v-shaped-maternity-and-nursing-pillow/p604310#product this is it!

OP posts:
Horehound · 11/04/2021 21:14

@chloed121 I occasionally feel sick but apart from that don't feel bad at all!

Hi everyone!

I thought the thread was going a bit quiet, but realised there's another thread! 🤦🏽‍♀️

I booked an early scan, time seems to be going so slowly 😭 I think I'm 5+3 not had many symptoms except cramps, and a bit emotional, hoping everything's okay 💞

Gspps · 11/04/2021 21:19

Also congratulations @lucea87 on the twins what a big surprise!🥰

Shazza86 · 11/04/2021 21:48

@horehound ah sorry, brain not with it tonight at all. Thanks for the link, will check it out 🙂
