@FuzzyPup yesterday I actually looked up newborn Christmas outfits! The baby will be way too young to know it's Christmas, but I will have fun and he/she will look soooooo adorable!!

mrslewis2015 · 11/04/2021 09:08

@jdr1234 sorry your feeling rotten. I had hyperemersis with my first so I’ve been really on it to try and prevent it really sinking in for me this time. So far my protocol is: huge amounts of suppliments; applie cider vinegar, tumeric, milk thistle, ginger, b complex, additional b6, magnesium spray, multi vit, folic acid, vitamin d. Basically the theory is if you can get your liver/kidneys functioning really well that you can process the excess hormones better and keep nausea at bay. So far.... so good? I feel crap and hungover/weak but still able to eat. eating what I want, not bland as that makes me gag. Lots of water and rest.

If you can’t keep food down, or get food in, then contact your midwife,I suffered for way way too long last time and lost a lot of weight before I sought help, I ended up on meds until 26 weeks and was able to eat a little better.

mrslewis2015 · 11/04/2021 09:15

@jdr1234 annoyingly I didn’t keep a diary last time and it was 5.5 years ago so I can’t remember, but I feel like my sickness was pretty set in by 5 weeks as that’s when I had to tell my work at the time (working with kids so if you were sick you had to be off work for 48h+ to not pass sickness to kids.. so had to say why I wasn’t contagious 😂) I’m 5+4 now and feeling ok, little rounds of nausea but not too debilitating and no vomiting.

Pregnancy sickness is no joke though, it ruined me last time and it was a big reason why I waited so long to try again, so don’t beat yourself up if it’s really hitting you, it’s hard!!! Make sure you follow what makes you feel better not just tips online because most of them made me worse not better last time (like eating first thing in the morning... massive nope for me! I’ve always fasted until afternoon and have been sticking to that because it makes me feel better!)

My midwife this time said if I can’t eat for more than a few days then I need help, I waited weeks before and luckily it did me or my daughter no ‘harm’ but it was not an ok way to survive!

Shazza86 · 11/04/2021 09:24

@horehound thanks for the tag to the new thread. Dipping in and out else my anxiety takes over. 6 weeks today for me 🙂 still just got fuller boobs, feel bloated, no other symptoms yet. I've hurt my back so had to spend a few days lying down with little walks around the house when I can. Hope you're all keeping well xxx

TreeRoad · 11/04/2021 09:39

Is anyone else having nausea that's actually helped by eating? If I eat, I feel great for a while before it comes back. Not sure if this is a "thing".

jdr1234 · 11/04/2021 09:40

Thanks @mrslewis2015 mine sounds nothing compared to yours. Am not physically puking just constant feeling like I’m going to. Food makes it bit better funny enough and don’t have any aversions yet. I think pregnecare was making me worse so I am going to switch to just folic acid and vitamin D.
Found soda and lime helping a bit.
Really hoping this time is better for you. So hard as takes all the excitement out of it and is just a daily struggle!

jdr1234 · 11/04/2021 09:41

@TreeRoad exactly this!

TreeRoad · 11/04/2021 10:02

@jdr1234 Funny we posted those messages at the same time! I'm going to end up huge at the rate I'm eating. 😂

Horehound · 11/04/2021 10:10

Welcome and congratulations to all the new BFP posters!

There's lots of us now :D

I deffo have feel sick but haven't been sick and that's what happened when I was pregnant with my son too. Hope it stays that way. I think if I do starts being sick I'll think I'm having a girl!

I deffo have waves of not feeling pregnant at all ..it's weird. Scan in a few hours so fingers crossed all ok!

TreeRoad · 11/04/2021 10:25

@Horehound Hope all goes well at the scan! I'm having those same waves of feeling like I'm not pregnant too. So much so that the leftover pregnancy tests are being used 🤦🏻‍♀️.

It's a really strange time. I'm glad for this thread because it's really easy to feel like you're the only one to have those thoughts.

Shazza86 · 11/04/2021 10:31

@Horehound @TreeRoad I'm with you two there. Good luck with your scan today ❤ how far along are you now? X

Horehound · 11/04/2021 10:37

Thank you.

I think I'm 6+5 but not 100% so I know it's early and really hoping to see a heartbeat

jdr1234 · 11/04/2021 11:03

@TreeRoad I’m going to be the size of the house, have to eat every 1 hr to get 15 min respite from sickness. Hope scan goes well @Horehound I’m also 6 +5 by my dates and got an early scan Thursday.

PurplePinkParade · 11/04/2021 11:07

I'm eating constantly too. I never used to start eating til 1/2pm but I need to eat as soon as I wake up otherwise I'm sick. I'm really trying my best to stick to low calorie snacks as I'm already overweight. I'm already 3lbs heavier than last month so I can't continue like this! I'm only 5+5.

climbershell · 11/04/2021 11:17

Has anyone been thinking up baby names yet? I've been adding to a list for years, showed my partner today and he's been googling too 😚

Room4onemore · 11/04/2021 11:25

Picked my pushchair 😂😂😂 when I get to 20 weeks 🤞 I’m going to order it so it’s out of the way. I don’t want to pay loads cause I’m a pushchair shopper so will want another one not long after 😂

Yep!

I'm far more concentrated on girl names as I'm convinced that's what I'm having. 😂

It's harder than I thought it'd be!

Which brand did you go with? There're so many to choose from.

Are you having a gender scan or going for neutral options that'd suit either?

mrslewis2015 · 11/04/2021 12:01

@jdr1234 it’s hard no matter how anyone else went through it, I always felt guilty complaining when my friend was in an out of hospital with HE and I wasn’t suffering as much. But at the end of the day, you can’t compare! Just sorry anyone has to go through any nausea/sickness as it’s so horrid! glad you’ve found things to help!! 🥳

Lovely to see other people feeling anxious about it all, I am def more anxious than last time, can’t quite accept that it’s finally happening!

FuzzyPup · 11/04/2021 12:07

I’m with you @mrslewis2015 - quite anxious and definitely can’t quite believe it’s happening. We’re dusting off our old baby shopping list from our first baby though and setting up a house renovations list again.

I never thought I’d be pregnant again. The doctors had completely prepared us for another round of IVF, and I had made peace with our little one being an only child.

BrodieKD · 11/04/2021 12:14

@TreeRoad I think girl names are far easier than a boy names. Oh is convinced we are having a boy. We can't agree on a name at all. He's come out with some belters. I keep reminding him we are having a child, not a 70 year old or a Greek god. He doesn't like anything that's too common.

@Room4onemore ohh what did you go for?

Does anyone know how you fit a baby, a Labrador and a pram in the car?

Not sure if you watched Friends but when Rachel & Ross are having their baby, he comes out with absolute belters too. Must be a man thing suggesting pensioner names 😂

May2311 · 11/04/2021 13:11

@BrodieKD - your question about fitting everyone in made me giggle! We currently have an 11 month old DD & a springer spaniel. Springer is in her bed in the boot ( living the life of luxury with all the space!) and we put the pram in the other side of the car. Problem we have now is fitting 2 babies, a springer and double pram in the car come December!! Haven't figured that out yet 🤣

LunaL0veg00d · 11/04/2021 13:46

I had jacobs crackers constantly on the go during my first pregnancy to curb the sickness. Not had anything apart from period pains this time, so far!

Good luck to all having early scans! Do you get to see much? I am thinking of having one as I'm not sure on my dates.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 11/04/2021 13:53

Thanks for the warm welcome! I still feel like I’m in a daze. When can you have an early scan?

I so want to tell someone but I also want to keep it secret for as long as I can 🙈
