@TheOrangeMonster I think it's the fact you can't drive for six weeks after etc, my husband will be back at work after two and I don't have any other support really, so I'm worried about coping home alone post c section no car new baby 😂 it will be fine! I will figure it out! Xx

@TheOrangeMonster haha I thought the same but it's totally not some hippy thing.
It's all about trying to set your mind positive about birth- there's so many horror stories andyou hear all the worse bits- but hypnobirthing is about remaining positive, calm and knowing all the choices you have during your birth. Yes things may not go to plan but you are still in control. It talks about being in a positive mind set up untill and throughout birth, breathing techniques that may help through labour, talks about inductions / additional medical interventions and it's our choice to have that or not. And there's a Facebook page which I love reading all about the positive births women have- all different of course.
You don't have to use the positive birth company you could even just YouTube it, I also have a book callled the positive birth book. Just talks about eveything really and informs you about the different stages of labour and what happens to our bodies. I really like it, it not in to all the fancy trance and all that but really feel it's help me feel a lot more positive about birth (as I was freaking out about the pain and everything- which I still may come the time but I'm glad I'm a lot more aware of my choices and options now) - sorry for the waffle haha.

Thanks @Blossom428 . I bought it yesterday and started the first few videos while I was waiting in the car for my son to finish at a club. I think it's going to really help me as my previous birth was really traumatic and ended with forceps and and an episiotomy with zero pain relief which was just horrific. They missed giving me the blood transfusion I needed to so I was ill for months after so I'm really hoping for a calmer experience this time around 🤞🏻

TheOrangeMonster · 13/05/2021 15:50

@AnxiousAnnie86 I didn't know that! Do you have parents living locally or are they far away? My in laws are 90 mins away and my parents are an hour away so I'm similarly a little bit stranded in terms of support once husband goes back to work (though we are currently investigating SPL).
@Blossom428 ah ok that sounds less hippy than I thought. I'll have a look at it.
@SS123456 fingers crossed your second birth is completely different from your first, poor you - that sounds really traumatic!

I'm wondering if I should start buying bits soon, loss of people seem to have got organised really early and we've got nothing except a car seat that was in a sale 50% off. I feel like I shouldn't because I'm only 23 weeks but I don't know....aaagh. My husband is SUCH a leave-it-til-the-last-minute guy too.

On that actually, any tips for getting partners to engage with the info they need to? I'm trying to get him to watch a labour video but he literally says they're too awkward.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 13/05/2021 16:00

@TheOrangeMonster we started buying about 24 weeks, wish we had started sooner! You have no idea how much you need!! It's cost a fortune! We are pretty much there now, apart from toiletries and wipes. Need to get some smaller sleepsuits as her predicted birth weight is only 6lb!!!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 13/05/2021 16:01

@TheOrangeMonster also, my dad lives an hour away just under and we are really really close so he will help where he can, I don't have a relationship as such with my mother - she left when I was a baby. DH parents are amazing! But in their 70s and his mum gets very very tired x

@AnxiousAnnie86 how are you doing?
Just read an awful story and suddenly wanted to check on you after your scare the other day. How's baby girl?

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/05/2021 20:59

@TheOrangeMonster arghh don't!! I don't wanna know!! I'm okay thank you, she's moving about like mad now!! Four weeks today till she comes! So hoping all stays okay! How are you??

Thanks so much for checking! Xxx

OP posts:
TheOrangeMonster · 20/05/2021 21:17

@AnxiousAnnie86 don't worry I wouldn't dare, it's just what prompted me to check because I realised how scary it must have been.
So glad she's getting a wiggle on now. Mine has been a bit lethargic today, I've been poking myself trying to wake them up - poor baby!
Four weeks! That's so exciting!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/05/2021 21:36

@TheOrangeMonster oh I do the same!!! Then feel bad no idea what I'm prodding at!!!! Think we've got there with a name and it makes it feel so real!!! We think we are going with Beatrix x

OP posts:
TheOrangeMonster · 20/05/2021 21:45

Omg @AnxiousAnnie86 that's so cute, one of my good friends called her daughter Beatrice last year (similar but not the same obvs).
I'm really excited to find out if we've got a boy or a girl (but definitely don't want to know until birth). Wish time would go a bit faster 😅

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/05/2021 21:49

@TheOrangeMonster I know! We both have a few others that we really like but that's the one we both agree on!

I'm so jealous you are waiting to find out! I wish I'd had the will power!!! Everything we bought has been neutral anyway, apart from her clothes

OP posts:
TheOrangeMonster · 21/05/2021 11:16

@AnxiousAnnie86 I think it's less willpower and more that I know if I knew the gender I'd get super attached to one of the names we've picked - and then if when we meet the baby it just doesn't suit that name that'll be a shame. I'd also have a really hard time keeping it a secret from my family and to me that's really important 😂
I keep flip flopping, thinking it'd be nice to have a girl (seems easier) but also interesting to have a boy - I literally have no preference or leanings at all which is something I'm genuinely grateful for.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 21/05/2021 11:22

@TheOrangeMonster aww that's great you have no preference!! Most people seem to one way or another don't they! I was convinced we were having a boy! And I got really attached to the boys name we chose so I do know what you mean! I absolutely loved it! What is your due date?

I cannot waaaait to see announcements on here!!!! X

It's creeping up fast for some of you now, it's so exciting 😁

TheOrangeMonster · 21/05/2021 17:29

@AnxiousAnnie86 8th September. I'm 24 + 2 now.

TheOrangeMonster · 21/05/2021 17:30

BTW question for everyone - has anyone had their Covid vaccine? I'm really so friggin scared of catching Covid and I wish they'd get around to the under 30s.....

AnxiousAnnie86 · 21/05/2021 18:01

@TheOrangeMonster I was going to post this! I have thought so long and hard about this, I've decided to get it, I'm booked I. For Pfizer on 30th may, I didn't know what to do, but we are at a wedding the week before my csection so think I'd be stupid to not protect myself and baby, plus it may give her immunity too! Xx

OP posts:
TheOrangeMonster · 21/05/2021 18:45

@AnxiousAnnie86 that sounds like a sensible decision. Hundreds of thousands of pregnant women have now been "Pfized" without issue and there's been such a positive response in the babies as well, showing antibodies after birth.

I'm just so scared with the risks of preterm birth and the S word and the 3.5x higher risk of severe complications...approaching my 3rd trimester and I'm worried I won't get it before then because they haven't got to my age group yet. It's been a massive source of anxiety I could do without.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 21/05/2021 19:49

@TheOrangeMonster my friend just had one by just going to a mop up one like is there ways you can keep an eye out? Loads of places at the end of the day have leftover doses so literally just give them to anyone, would you have the pfizer in pregnancy then? I'm worried about feeling terrible! X

OP posts:
SS123456 · 21/05/2021 21:50

I had covid in January (whilst early pregnant) so still have antibodies but I also had my first pfizer jab yesterday. It was pretty horrific suffering the illness through early pregnant but it would have been so so much worse to catch further along while you have such limited lung capacity

TheOrangeMonster · 22/05/2021 13:22

@AnxiousAnnie86 yes, it's either Pfizer or Moderna which are sage and approved in pregnancy. Astra Zeneca not approved for pregnancy or under 40s. I've done a lot of my own research and I'm happy that there's nothing in either of them that could possibly cause harm to the baby, they obviously can't give you Covid. All my family have had different brands, but not a single one has had any side effects beyond a sore arm, and the worst I've heard about from someone I know is they felt like they had a cold coming on for a day afterwards.

To my mind, it's so much better to feel a bit rubbish for a day or two than potentially have to go on a ventilator or risk preterm birth. Complete no brainer to me personally, but completely appreciate everyone feels differently and absolutely no judgment to anyone who's hesitant to have it while pregnant!

I'm going to ask my midwife on Monday to see if she can get me put on a reserve list. Where I live you have to be approved for a reserve list by your health specialist, you can't just turn up (there has to be a reason, for me it'll be pregnancy risk and also I work face to face with kids). Seems to be different in different places.

@SS123456 well done getting your jab, I hope you feel alright. So sorry you had to deal with Covid back then. Good news is having antibodies already you're more protected after one dose than otherwise. 😊

TheOrangeMonster · 22/05/2021 13:22

*safe not sage

Blossom428 · 24/05/2021 10:01

Awww what a lovey name @AnxiousAnnie86 !
We are still no closer to choosing a name, I feel we haven't really spoken about it as we've been busy, but it's been on my mind. I keep adding names to my list haha! It's getting longer and longer- I know Oh won't like a lot of them though.

I have just been offered the vaccine, but after doing my own research I have decided just to wait untill after birth which is only 8weeks, so by the time the vaccine would have kicked in after a few weeks, I would be nearly there anyways. Will defo get it as soon as baby arrives though.

PGP is so painful! I do a bit of walking and feel so much pressure in my pelvic bone. Really annoying!

Blossom428 · 25/05/2021 14:46

My partners name begins with S, and I do really like it when the first name begins with the same- however when I mentioned this to my mum she was like you do realise what SS is- relating to Hitler...
So do you think this is a defo no no? I really like some names beginning with S. annoyingly.
