The dentist should have been able to do it with your national insurance number i think @TiredAlreadyOhDear, i got my matb1 at 20 week scan which is good as my 25 week app was on the phone!

Work situation is sorted and i will NOT be returning until after maternity leave. Feel a weight has been lifted

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 29/03/2021 11:59

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I did tell the dentist and she said keep your receipt and you can claim it back so I’ll try and do that....I mean it was only a check up so it wasn’t massively expensive just annoying that my midwife seems very unorganised.

Great news on work - bet that feels like a weight off knowing your at home until after.

Luckyelephant1 · 29/03/2021 13:37

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I also have my midwife appointment tomorrow and am hoping to get my MatB1. I'm 25 weeks today though, but have already told my employer I'm pregnant and that's the main thing, I believe they only need to have the form a minimum of 21 days before your maternity pay would come into effect.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 29/03/2021 13:43

@Luckyelephant1 yeah I’ve told mine too verbally but would like the form just so I can get it submitted so it’s another job done.

What did they do in your appointment - not sure what to expect this time.

Luckyelephant1 · 29/03/2021 13:57

@TiredAlreadyOhDear no mines tomorrow as well so I haven't had it yet! And yeah I'm not really sure what to expect, I'm assuming similar to 16 week apt but maybe with some bump measurements as well?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 29/03/2021 14:01

Sorry @Luckyelephant1 I misread!

Yeah I think so too - I’m wondering when they will start asking about birth preferences and things - I haven’t been asked anything yet about that.

We might get a heartbeat too x

Mummy2O · 29/03/2021 14:02

I haven't had mine yet either. I'm 24 weeks and I don't see the midwife again until 26 weeks.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 29/03/2021 14:24

My 25 week was on phone and was just a brief chat about how things are going! Don't see anyone til 28 week but think all appointments are face to face after that

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 29/03/2021 14:41

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE @Mummy2O

I find it so random how all the trusts and docs are so different across different places, you’d think it would be pretty standard wouldn’t you really.

Looking forward to finishing work in a. Hour 20 mins and getting out for a big walk with the dog - starting to feel very heavy just sitting at my desk all day!

PeanutButterFalcon · 29/03/2021 17:24

I had my appointment a while ago now. We had a chat about how I was finding things and my consultant appointment. Talked about my scan and movements. Checked BP, urine. Listened to the heartbeat and measured my bump. Also talked about when DH may be able to start coming along with me

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 29/03/2021 18:44

I’m looking forward to mine tomorrow, to be fair I think my other half would like to come to one or two appointments but I do think I’m kinda ok with him not going either - the first few with my midwife have felt a bit pointless so it would just have been a bit of a waste for him to take the time off work - but I know he would have done cos he doesn’t want to miss out.

Anyone else feel like they’ve missed out getting dressed up and showing off their bump a bit? I was saying the other day all I wear is gym type stuff, can’t wait for things to open up and be bothered to wear some nice clothes when we can get out and about a bit before the baby is here!

Luckyelephant1 · 30/03/2021 10:34

@TiredAlreadyOhDear just had mine, was just like the 16 week one- she measured BP, dipped urine, we listened to heartbeat, discussed how I am and about movements etc and I got my matb1. So nothing groundbreaking but it's always reasurring to see a professional and hear a heartbeat! At 28 weeks bloods will be taken as well and that's when fundal measurements start.

And yes totally agree about dressing up, I can't wait for proper summer and getting some nice dresses on. I live in leggings and baggy jumpers at the moment!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 30/03/2021 11:32

@Luckyelephant1 just back from mine too! Pretty much the same - I got my form as well. Yeah she mentioned my next appointment would be bloods and measuring and also said she was sending off for my health visitor to get in touch with me as they come out to see you before the baby arrives so you can put a face to the person.

Yeah I’ve got a few dresses I can’t wait to wear I’m the same - leggings and jumpers or just pjs as I’m working from home.

I’m going to book an appointment for pram shopping as well soon - as I’m wondering how long you have to order them - I don’t know if they have waiting lists or anything like that x

Bunny2021 · 30/03/2021 14:56

Anyone else struggling in the heat today and wondering how on earth we're going to get through to mid-summer?!

Aj1400 · 30/03/2021 14:58

oops- completely didn't realise I needed a 25w appointment..
I had the hooping cough vaccine today and had to book the docs seaparetely for 25w 4 days.

(such a scatterbrain with all this pregnncy appointments etc.)

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 30/03/2021 15:30

@Bunny2021 I’ve not been out in it yet but planned a walk at 4pm with my sister so hoping it’s not as warm then!

I’m rubbish with the heat anyway so I already know that this summer will be hard work for me especially when I’m huge!

Luckyelephant1 · 30/03/2021 16:22

Oh I'm loving the heat at the moment I feel like my skin has been craving that extra Vitamin D! I'm always very cold so this weather is welcome. I'm sure in a few weeks time I'll be eating my words though Grin

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 30/03/2021 16:49

One great thing about July babies is that they will be able to have some great birthdays outside in the sunshine hopefully!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 30/03/2021 17:03

And lots of sun if they are a tad jaundice Grin

isadorapolly · 30/03/2021 17:23

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I thought that the other day!

All my other children are winter/early spring babies so they’ve never been able to have parties at home which is a shame as our house and garden is perfect for parties!

The weathers been amazing today Smile looking forward to the summer!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 30/03/2021 20:15

I have no idea why but I never imagined I would have a summer baby - I think because I’m November and my other half is December I always just thought it would be around that time too 😂 so strange what you imagine isn’t it.

I had a carton monoxide test today in my appointment as well - has anyone else been asked to have one? The midwife said they had stopped doing them due to COVID but have been told they can start doing them again so I had mine today.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 30/03/2021 20:16

*carbon

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 30/03/2021 20:16

I had them in my last pregnancy but not in this one

isadorapolly · 30/03/2021 22:06

I’ve never had one of those! Is it to see if you smoke? Sorry if I sound stupid I’ve just never been offered one.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 30/03/2021 22:37

They didn’t actually say if it was to test for smoking but I guess it would detect that....they just said to see your carbon monoxide levels....I don’t smoke so it didn’t even cross my mind it would be for that but just looked online and it says your levels will be higher if you do smoke so maybe it’s a bit of a test to see if your telling the truth about being a smoker or not. She did say it’s usual to do them in pregnancy but they had just stopped since COVID but we’re starting up again. X
