Hi,

I was part of another thread and for some reason it got closed. I found it so helpful to be able to talk to other pregnant women, so I thought I would start a new thread where anyone pregnant is welcome!

I'm currently 10wks & my 12 wk scan is on the 22nd. I'm both excited & scared as having had a mc last year I'm worried everything will be ok.

How are you getting on with your pregnancy? Have you, like me, suffered badly with feeling/being sick?!

I feel for you girls being put off certain foods. I'm not a fan of red meat currently. Bleugh.

I really hope I can have my DH at the scan. He's so excited for it! First baby 💕🤞

GWhiteley · 15/02/2021 11:34

@DressyGerbera it's definitely more raw onion for me. Urgh. Luckily I don't cook with it that often & hopefully it'll go away soon! I was under the impression you only had a harmony scan if there was an abnormality in your combined 12 week scan? My midwife asked if I wanted the combined scan & advised they'll take blood & measure the fluid at the babies neck to check for Down's syndrome etc & if the score comes back below a certain number then you would decide whether to have the harmony scan (which is private) or there is another test the nhs do to then determine whether your baby does have abnormalities. Perhaps I got the wrong end of the stick somewhere

@GWhiteley that's right I had the harmony test after my 12 week scan because we came back as higher risk for down syndrome. They did the blood test at the hospital but we still had to pay as it wasn't offered on the NHS yet. I think you can book a test privately yourself before the 12 week scan - a bit like choosing to pay for a private scan.

Choclover89 · 15/02/2021 12:20

Sorry this was with my first pregnancy in 2019

Taybz · 15/02/2021 13:32

Hiya! Can I join too please? I was also on the other thread that closed down. I'm 9wks today, the violent nausea has died down but I dry heave every time I brush my teeth. My symptoms are different everyday, anyone worse start worrying when their bad symptoms lessen?

AdventuresAwait · 15/02/2021 13:46

Hello again @Taybz! Yes I worry when I don't feel nauseous in the morning and when my boobs don't seem as sore. I feel reassured when I have symptoms...!

I had an early scan as my symptoms seemed to have gone. We were told they do come and go. They came back after the scan!

AdventuresAwait · 15/02/2021 13:48

And hello and congrats to all who've joined!

Taybz · 15/02/2021 14:33

@AdventuresAwait phew that's so reassuring thank you! I'm also less bloated now so was really starting to worry. How are you feeling now? When are you due?

Tamalama · 15/02/2021 14:39

Hi all, I'm 12 weeks pregnant with twins and I also have my scan on the 22nd! I had an early scan at 6 weeks 2 days which is why I know for sure it's twins. My DH wasn't allowed to the appointment though, so it was a shock for him
when I told him the news in the car park 😂
Thankfully he can come to the scan next Monday but we both have to have a covid test at the hospital that morning and wait 30 mins before we can attend the appointment.

I have a DD who's 4, and although I had morning sickness with her this time around it's bloody awful. I thought I was turning a corner a few days ago where I started eating all the food and drinking so much water, but since Saturday I've been back to vomiting everything back up and having headaches again 😕 I'm just trying to get through it by telling myself that intense morning sickness is a good sign.

AdventuresAwait · 15/02/2021 15:58

@Taybz, I'm feeling OK thanks. Sleeping a bit better which is helping. I'm nauseous some mornings, have sore boobs and have had some headaches. How about you?

I'm 10+3, due around the 10th September. I have had two early scans privately (for reassurance and so my husband could be there) and I have my 12 week scan in 2 weeks.

Excited!

AdventuresAwait · 15/02/2021 16:04

Congratulations @Tamalama.. wow - twins!

I know what you mean about the morning sickness and it being a good sign. I just have nausea but find it reassuring.

It's great that your DH can be at the scan with you Smile.

DressyGerbera · 15/02/2021 18:42

@GWhiteley can't stand raw onion now too! eurgh!

The Harmony scan/ test I did was actually a private scan rather than on the NHS. I was getting really anxious, couldn't wait for the NHS scan so did an early(earlier) scan which was combined with the harmony test at 10 weeks plus. Thinks others may prefer to do the 12 week NHS scan first and see the results but i was anxious and wanted some reassurance so did it all before. I only got my 12 week NHS scan results this week too (past 14 weeks)...

Congratulations @Tamalama! I hope you'll feel better soon!!

GWhiteley · 15/02/2021 19:00

Congratulations @Tamalama! I bet it was a shock for your husband when you told him 😂 Has he gotten used to the idea now?
Seriously looking forward to a time when I feel less nauseous, though I know it's a good sign in many respects!
@DressyGerbera if you're feeling that anxious then it makes sense to have an early scan etc for reassurance. My 12 wk scan is in a week & have been happy to wait for it

Hi can I join I’m 11 weeks tomorrow I haven’t had a scan date through from hospital so going to call them tomorrow but I’ve actually arranged to have harmony test tmrw so will get scanned and bloods done etc and will be able to find out sex - I will find out as we have kept all my little boys clothes from birth so if a girl we can give all that away. I’ve been so sick since 5 weeks am on 2 different meds now which helps but I’m nauseous all day. I’m super sick today and I think it’s anxiety for tomorrow! Hope you are all well x

AdventuresAwait · 15/02/2021 19:25

Congratulations @2021mumma! All the best for tomorrow. How long do the results take?

2021mumma · 15/02/2021 19:45

@AdventuresAwait thank you! Same to you. I think between 7-10days. I did it last pregnancy and I’m sure I got the results in about 3 days. I decided to do again as much more accurate results than NHS plus my age I will be 40 when baby born so just want to put my mind at rest all is ok. Just can’t relax tonight I’m always thinking worst case! X

Taybz · 15/02/2021 20:37

@Tamalama that's amazing! Congrats! Is it your first?

Taybz · 15/02/2021 20:39

@AdventuresAwait I've still got nausea but it's milder thankfully! Most days I still feel exhausted and dizzy with a migraine. It must be so exciting to come closer to that 12wk scan for you!

Taybz · 15/02/2021 20:55

Has anyone had a 2nd private scan for reassurance? I had mine at 7wks but I'm such a worry wart and want to get another one ASAP. DH is completely against it though as our 12wk scan is 3 weeks away.

My worries are centred on my symptoms lessening eg the nausea, bloating and reading about someone's miscarriage at 9wks. I felt more reassured a couple of hours ago thanks to @adventuresawait but I'm back on the worry wagon 😫 Thoughts please? AIBU to want another scan so soon after the 1st?

2021mumma · 15/02/2021 21:09

@Taybz do whatever makes you feel better. I had scan this time at 6 weeks and doing harmony tmrw at 11 weeks. Last time I did my first scan around 10 weeks and then had many more, my husband was like how many scans do you need! I told him it made me feel less anxious having the extra private scans he was fine and just went along with it x

Tamalama · 15/02/2021 21:28

Thanks @Taybz and @GWhiteley
Nope, I already have a DD who's 4. I had a MC 2 years ago so I'm quite anxious this time around but my scan is next Monday, so not too long to wait. I wanted to have a private scan done a few weeks ago but DH talked me out of it, primarily because of money and because due to covid the place near us that does private scans isn't doing them at the moment and the nearest one is 20 miles away....

Tamalama · 15/02/2021 21:29

@Taybz when I was pregnant with my DD I had two private scans, one at 9 weeks and one at 17 weeks 😊 if it makes you feel better then definitely have one for your own peace of mind and reassurance 😊

Tamalama · 15/02/2021 21:31

Thanks @AdventuresAwait and @DressyGerbera
Yep crazy that it's twins and I turned 40 in December, it's madness! 😂😱

AdventuresAwait · 15/02/2021 21:39

@Taybz, I had an early scan and then went again on Thursday (10 weeks) as I wanted to go again with my husband before 12 weeks. I wondered whether to but I'm glad we did. Heard the heartbeat again & saw a clearer picture.

AdventuresAwait · 15/02/2021 21:43

@2021mumma, thanks for the info. I will be 40 the month after baby is due. We've been talking about what to do about tests/screening too.
