Bundles,

Thrilled to hear all is well - it seems as if you've been waiting for ages! Now you can really let your hair down in time for Christmas!

Melly · 21/11/2002 08:39

Had my "official" amnio results yesterday (the two - three week bit) and this confirmed the PCR result, so everything ok, am so relieved. Bump seems to be quite large now although I didn't really show until about 14 weeks, but I've heard that's quite common with 2nd and subsequent pregnancies?
Does anyone else find that some older people give you very disapproving looks if you wear clothes that show off your bump? This really upsets me, I'm so proud (even though it's not my first pregnancy) I just want the world to know!
BTW, I bought some really trendy maternity wear from funmum.com who are having a liquidation sale....not sure if they've got anything left but can thoroughly recommend the site if you're looking for something a bit "funkier".

Nice news Melly!

deegward · 21/11/2002 18:47

Great news from everyone, now everyone is going to be at the Whittington, AND know the sex. Its not fair!

Thought I looked really pregnant today, and then went to active birth yoga- ladies there from me at 23ish weeks to 39 weeks- I felt so small, and completely not part of that club.

Ds has decided that the baby has gone away now, so thats comforting. Should finish Chrissy shopping this weekend so can then put fet up. Haha - have inlaws and sister in law coming for the duration!!! wasn't preg when invited them. Anyway take care all

bundle · 25/11/2002 10:03

Melly - great to hear your news, doesn't it seem a long time while those cells are growing?? And Deegward, I hope that oven-ready treats from M&S are sufficient for in-laws and they understand that a pregnant woman needs REST!

I was wondering if any of you ladies expecting the same time as me (mid April 2003) might be able to help me with a query about maternity leave.
My baby is due on 14th April and apparently the new legislation for extending mat. leave from 18 -26 weeks comes in on 6th April. I've been told by someone in our Personnel dept. that if I won't be entitled to the new package if the baby is born before 6th April. They haven't updated any of the paperwork and have given me stuff to sign that still refers to the 18 weeks etc. I officially start my mat leave on 13th April and feel I shouldn't sign anything that strictly speaking will be out of date when my mat leave commences. Sorry if this is confusing, I'm wondering if anyone knows the official line, i.e do you qualify going by the date of mat leave, EDD or DOB of the baby? If the latter, will just have to avoid hot curry, long walks, sex etc in case the baby comes early!!

Oh that's a relief, thanks Pamina. I thought that was the case as it seems the most logical way of working it out.

Melly · 28/11/2002 21:07

Pamina, have just heard from someone senior in our Personnel Dept who contacted our Payroll office and they are adamant that the entitlement is based on the date of birth of the baby. I'm not sure whether every employer is allowed to put their own interpretation to the legislation? I suppose it works both ways, because anyone whose baby is due before 6th April, i.e 4th April who then goes overdue would lose out if it is based on the EDD. I will just have to literally keep everything crossed and hope that junior is born on or after the due date.

MiriamW · 28/11/2002 21:24

See www2.dti.gov.uk/er/matleafr.htm (official government website). It's the date on the MAT B1 (Expected Week of Confinement) that counts for the extended leave. The maternity pay increase happens 6 April automatically regardless of EWC/birthdate etc.

bundle · 11/12/2002 17:57

how's everyone here doing? it's all gone a bit quiet...

TigerFeet · 22/12/2002 23:13

Haven't posted in a while but all is well.

Am now coming up for 25 weeks and starting to feel big, walking slowly, peeing regularly (but occasional let down by pelvic floor IYKWIM) but well with pretty good energy. The time seems to be flying and having a 2.5 year old helps.

Just gearing up for Christmas and getting really excited for ds. Can't wait to see his face after 'Santa' has been. Hope everyone else is well too - seasons greetings and good health to all!

percy · 23/12/2002 15:07

Hiya
Yup feeling so much better generally now - well in myself and feeling very positive about the new arrival due end April. My 2.75 year old is also keeping me very busy - but it is nice to to be so very focused on the pregnancy as last time round - goes so much faster.
Hope all the rest of you are doing well too.
Merry Christmas - off to the in-laws for the next 5 days - aaargh!

KazC · 23/12/2002 16:22

Hi everyone, room for another ?

I am due 30 May and it is my second. As last time I have so far had a very easy pregnancy with no real nausea. However, have developed insomnia - started about two months ago - fall asleep at 10pm ish and then wake up at 2/3am unable to get back to sleep... Now its getting worse and i am having trouble getting to sleep in the first place. I'm not particularly stressed ( well no more than normal ) and certainly don't wake up all anxious. More like my brain just switches on.

Hopefully Christmas and a break from work will sort me out!

Karen

bossykate · 23/12/2002 19:29

congratulations and good luck to everyone here!

bundle · 24/12/2002 11:00

hi percy, we're with the inlaws too..they've left me in (bad night with dd, waking I think cos she's in a strange place) while they're doing last minute shopping etc. nice to have a rest Glad to hear you're feeling good..hope everyone has a peaceful Christmas

deegward · 15/01/2003 21:52

Is everyone still out there, or is everyone too big and fed up to type anything in? It would be great to hear how everyone is getting on, I am now 30 weeks and am dog tired all the time, and very uncomfortabel, heh ho only another 12 weeks max to go!

Melly · 16/01/2003 13:07

hello deegward, not sure if I count...I'm due mid April, very large, but thankfully all bump and don't seem to have put weight on anywhere else. I got so paranoid about everyone saying to me at work last week about how huge my bump is that i rang the m/w who saw me that day and reassured me that I wasn't having an elephant!!
Know what you mean about being uncomfortable, bump aches and back aches....oh well like you say only another 12 weeks

deegward · 16/01/2003 14:47

Melly, of course you count, I am due at the end of April. My husband was convinced I wasn't as big last time, but hink I was just a lot fatter then, and the bump didn't show!

deegward · 16/01/2003 14:48

Pregnant moment, I'm due at the end of March

bundle · 20/01/2003 14:18

I'm due 9 April, felt v tired & big over the weekend but managed to get some rest so feeling brighter today (at work). Yesterday felt like baby was doing a big move around - felt virtually transverse, so v uncomfortable for me! I think doing the supermarket run in the morning when dh was at the park with dd didn't do my any favours either...
