MaVictoria · 05/05/2003 13:47

Hi DAHLIA, sorry to hear about the swollen ankles, i had that during my first pregnancy, was funny getting shoes bigger than my usual size but the feet returned to normal size afterwards luckily. As regards to the weight i am still carrying the extra pounds i put on 12 years ago:-)lol....when r u due to have your baby?
NINJA, good luck, although it may all be over now...(another labour that brought tears to my eyes) It has to be the hormones!! lol
Yesterday i cried watching a film...haven't done that in ages...my partner was laughing as he was quite surprised hee hee!

lisac · 05/05/2003 14:48

Well I had DD2, Alexandra (Alex) in the early hours of Thursday 1st May. After a fairly long first labour with epidural etc, this one was an amazing contrast. I had been hoping to have an active birth with minimum pain relief and intervention. This is just what happened, although the speed of the labour took me by surprise. About 2 hours for first stage and 2 minutes for second stage! Some gas and air right at the end. A minor tear but otherwise no damage and I feel great.
She's gorgeous, feeding well and keeping me up a lot at night!

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 14:50

CONGRATS LisaC!!! Welcome wee Alex (lovely name BTW).

I hope my 2nd labour is just like yours!!

Caterina · 05/05/2003 16:25

Congratulations LisaC!!!!!

It's great to hear finally of a positive labour experience, you made my day.

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 16:48

Hello everyone - sorry for being so lax posting but it's been a bit of a rollercoaster - everything fine though. Baby daughter (still no name @ 2 weeks old ) delivered by c-section on Tuesday 22 April at a bouncing 8lb 9.5 oz! went in for scheduled induction but v few weedy contractions even after waters broken for me. I never even got as far as drugs - needle went into the back of my hand and although I felt fine, my bp/pulse just dropped & they took me in for a crash section as the baby's heart slowed dangerously too. had to have a general anaesthetic which was the worst bit & vomited a bit on waking up. she's beautiful though and don't regret any of it. dh away for a week so parents looking after me & dd1. baby sleeping 5 hours at night and mastitis I thought I was getting seems to have subsided & I haven't had to start taking the antibiotics. nipples still bloody sore though, who'd have thought it after 2 yrs of bfeeding dd1??? anyway, she's gorgeous and I hope to be posting more soon, bundle x
ps thanks for all your kind thoughts, I've been thinking about you all especially percy

suedonim · 06/05/2003 11:54

jessi · 06/05/2003 15:58

Congratulations Bundle, and LisaC too!

lisac · 06/05/2003 18:00

Thanks for all your good wishes. I know what you mean about the nipples Bundle! Alex was 8lbs 13 oz and wants to be fed almost constantly. I did b/f DD1 but had completely forgotten how painful it is to begin with.

Caterina · 06/05/2003 20:54

sore nipples, ouch!!!
Bundle and LisaC, well done for breastfeeding....
I hope I will be as brave as you, my nipples have been sore for the last 20 weeks ;-(
(can anybody tell me how you get the faces on this????)

ninja · 06/05/2003 22:38

Well it was labour and Jessi the Tens machine was working ... at that point and then the gas and air was working and ..... I won't bore you with the details but I gave birth to a girl at 13:49 05/05/03 called Caoimhe (pronounced Keeva) - it's Irish like my dp - and he still is my dp as he was a star through the whole experience and even let me come on mumsnet as soon as I was home!

MaVictoria · 06/05/2003 23:06

Jessi - just remember that you're going to have a beautiful baby who'll tear your heartstrings at the end of all of this. Take some soothing music into the hospital with you - and EVERYONE says it'll be easier than last time. I tried ti give up this tim, but when the ventuse came out I just pushed her in one - she shot across the room! (then I projectile vomited on the paediatrcian!) - but now I'm strating not to care cos of the family I'm now part of - GOOD LUCK!!

kaz33 · 09/05/2003 09:33

Well done Ninja.

Today is my last day at work - which is a huge relief as by the end of each day I am physically exhausted. Bit odd as I will be at home with nanny and DS1, hard to relax when you can hear DS1 in other room going mama, mama !!

My latest plan is to re-decorate the hallway as it has been annoying me for ages, even managed to persuade DP to help me - DIY not his thing. Hopefully by next week i will have a bit more energy and ready to tackle the hallway - or maybe I'm just going to have to take on board the fact that the energy in my brain is not matched by my physical energy......

Anyway not long to go before new arrival - can't wait to meet him !!

still here and thought i'd keep you all informed.... went to see the consultant yesterday at hospital and am really pleased that they are going to let me go until monday when i'll be 40+16. Booked in for an induction on monday am. Dr did a sweep and i'm soft and 2cm dilated which is good but cervix is still long which i guess is not so good. anyway fingers crossed......

ninja · 09/05/2003 10:23

Oh Percy I'm thinking of you, I bet you just can't wait - Kaz33 are you sure the plans to do the hall aren't nesting instinct? Mine came late and I missed my last two days at work! Now I have to go in to tie upa couple of loose ends!

happyspider · 11/05/2003 16:47

I think I have seen a posting somewhere on this thread saying that they were going to start a new thread for people due June/July: was it done?
This is a lovely thread, however has got a bit too long and it's quite difficult to get to the bottom to do a posting...

I am due in June and can see that some of the people on this thread have already had babies, so it would be nice to carry on with a new one?
Of course everybody would be welcome to chip in with advice and tales of their labour...
