am being increasingly sick -sometimes the morning , sometimes the afternoon or the evening... Hope everyone is well. I had one of those "anxiety" days yesterday when I thought I didn't feel pregnant - not that I feel pregnant anyway at less than 10 weeks. Just being paranoid - anyone else get like that? can't wait for the appointment for the scan.

Janus · 15/11/2002 17:47

OuiOui, can totally sympathise. I moved house when 12 weeks pregnant and still haven't seen anyone and am now 20 weeks pregnant! My new GP surgery has been crap and I find it outstanding that I'm half way through and haven't had one check-up. I contacted my hospital direct and they were completely on the ball and have set me up with a scan for next week and chased my GP for the referral letter, etc. When I went to register etc the GP didn't even ask how I was feeling, any background, etc, did check out another GP surgery but they seemed even worse so resigning myself to getting through this. (I did have an early scan due to bleeding organised by my old GP surgery and am missing them dreadfully!). Am convinced I have missed blood tests, etc, anyone remember what dates you have various tests?

ellasmum · 15/11/2002 19:16

Havn't read all of this thread but thought I might join - hope July sometime is mid 2003!!

Have no idea how far along I am as havn't had a period since before DD was born (she is 7 months old). But working back to any time DP and I had any action (very limited in the last 7 months!) I reckon I must be about 6 weeks.

Have got a doctors appointment on Monday to get referred to the hospital (again).

Hope everyone is well and I look forward to hearing about you all over the following months.

musica · 15/11/2002 19:42

Hi - just got the +ve test - I reckon I'll be due mid-July; hope it's not too late to join in!

ellasmum · 17/11/2002 14:00

Congratulations Musica - looks like we are probably due about the same time then!!

jessi · 17/11/2002 17:02

Hi, I was wondering if we should set up a June/July expecting thread as there are lots of us who are newly pregnant here? What does everyone think?

musica · 17/11/2002 20:51

That sounds a good idea. I'll start one now!

bundle · 18/11/2002 12:02

hey Whittington girls - and everyone else too! - I had my anomaly scan last Thursday and everything looks ok. Got lots of scan piccies which dd was very pleased with...
and IT'S A GIRL! and after me saying the baby was bound to be a boy, because it was making my skin all spotty. Consultant wants to see my in 4 wks time for a growth check scan (just to be sure - because I had a low level of HCG on the Barts test)but other than that, all is fine.

WideWebWitch · 18/11/2002 18:35

Great news bundle!

bundle · 18/11/2002 18:42

thanks, www, still keep calling her 'it', reeling a bit from knowing as I was sure I wanted a proper surprise until the consultant asked me if I wanted to know.

lou33 · 18/11/2002 21:42

Congrats Bundle! Just sneaking on this thread to say I loved knowing the sex in advance, it made me feel a lot closer to the baby saying him or her (or even a name) rather than it. Now not returning here again as I do not want to tempt fate and find a surprise number 5 on the way, esp after being sterilised!

KMS · 18/11/2002 23:13

I am new to this chat business! is anyone out there about 5wks? have just had +ve test and think due mid july. feel so nauseus already not so with last 2 pregnancies. worried it may be 2 in there! when can u have a nuchal scan?

musica · 18/11/2002 23:15

KMS - we've started a new June-July thread, in Pregnance topic - there are a few of us there. I think I'm about 5 weeks too, and I think I'll be due around the 20th July, so we must be about the same!

Ghosty · 19/11/2002 07:34

Great news Bundle ...

Hi Bundle, that's lovely news about your scan. I also had my scan last Thursday and thankfully all was ok. I teased the radiographer because I already knew the sex of my baby but I wanted to see if he did!! Actually I wish I hadn't asked now when I had the amnio but like Lou says, in a way it does make you feel closer to the baby. Dh and I have decided not to tell anyone, even close family, but I'm not sure how easy this will be, I bet one of us will slip up and let it out.

OuiOui · 19/11/2002 11:25

Hi everyone, glad to hear all's well. Bundle - I thought the Whittingtom weern't allowed to tell the sex of the baby!!! Well I've finally seen the dr and she asked me a few questions to "put me into the system" and Have just had my appointments through - My scan at 14 weeks but, get this - my first midwives appt at 20 weeks - am I missing something here but aren't we meant to have regular check ups, urine and blood tests and test for diabetes??? I've got them to change it to be a month earlier but really!!!

bundle · 19/11/2002 12:32

Melly I'm pleased it's all ok with you too, IKWYM about the sex thing it feels a bit weird. Ouioui, they don't normally tell you the sex, but I asked for it anyway on the amnio and I think they feel pretty confident I wouldn't be trying to find out for bad reasons! that's a hoot about your appointments - I think they're often v laid back with second/subsequent babies. may see you in there

MiriamW · 19/11/2002 17:30

Bundle, Melly, glad to hear that the scans went well. It does seem odd knowing the sex so early - I didn't even think to ask last time round.

Ouioui - I thought that most places had a booking in appointment around 12 weeks, but they obviously have you down as an expert. I had my first consultants appt at 6 weeks, with a mw appt at 12, and another consultant appt at 16 weeks. i think that there will be a gap between 20 and 28 weeks though.

Had my nuchal scan a couple of weeks ago. Kings are doing some research on the theory that if they can see the nasal bone at this stage then the risk of Downs shrinks even further (to about a third of the nuchal fold result), but baby wasn't very co-operative so in the end spent over an hour - most of which trying to get the correct profile. Was a bit worried to see how they fiddled the length reading - the first reading gave a very low centile (

bundle · 19/11/2002 18:04

Miriam, I'm glad all is well, especially with dh so far away. I'd forgotten about your cervix thing (incompetent - I assume that's it but hate that word!) but glad all is well with that. Have you decided on the delivery yet?

bundle · 19/11/2002 18:23

just spoke to dh on the phone who said a letter had arrived from the hospital - he opened it and it's confirmed that everything is as it should be, the baby has the normal, 46 chromosomes and is indeed a girl feel like skipping home, never mind getting the Tube

Marina · 19/11/2002 19:39

Never mind skipping, what about cartwheels instead, Bundle. Great news!

Great news Bundle I'm so pleased for you.

Katherine · 20/11/2002 12:04

Bundle - Fantastic news. This thread needs a few happy tales. So pleased for you.

OuiOui - At my booking appointment at 12 weeks my MW said that with my third I only needed a few appointments unless I wanted more and didn't need to see the consultant at all.
