Welcome back. Glad you’re back so quickly @Simmy20

Welcome @SenoraSurf

@SkyBlue20 Sorry you keep getting worried about movements and must be such a hassle going to hospital. Are you feeling less the bigger she gets?

Looks like I’ve joined so many of you in the Growth Scan Club! Had my 34w appt yesterday. Iron and b12 levels are still great. However, bump didn’t grow at all (still 32cm) and still breech, so I was referred for a growth scan and to confirm position. On paper it looks bad, but I wasn’t really worried as I can see and feel that baby has grown as my bump is all baby, not to mention my weight gain. Also as I keep saying, my babies aren’t able to turn. I can feel that she’s breech so that part was expected at least.

Anyway, had the scan today and it was fine. We’re on the 10th centile, so baby is titchy (4lb 7oz), which makes much more sense than the ridiculous 97th centile they’ve been plotting me at. The sonographer was concerned and asked about my previous baby before checking my chart and seeing that it was fine. He really should have asked and checked before saying anything TBH. A different woman may have cried as he said nothing for ages apart from: “Your baby is measuring very small. Did you know that?”, while looking concerned. Anyway, he said I should have been having regular growth scans due to previous small baby, but I told him the consultant said there was no need. He booked me another scan for 3 weeks’ time.

My Grow Chart looks more interesting now lol. I did wonder if I’d be referred due to the breech position but then thought maybe as I’ve selected ELCS, there would be no need to confirm. Anywho, I’m pleased I had a scan seeing as my 20w one was an emergency and a big kerfuffle with the pains and nearly fainting. He confirmed that it’s deffo still a girl. Guess I’ll be making use of all these tiny baby clothes I have!

@skyblue20 glad all was well when you went in! Its so hard to work out what counts as reduced movements. I certainly feel like I have more active then quieter days. I'm trying to work out what is too quiet! Baby has been quieter today but think he's picking up a bit now.

@dancem1 that must have been scary to see, hopefully nothing will come back from the swabs and it won't happen again!

@RosieJess91 that must be tough, bless your son wanting to get in bed with you! Glad your dad is being looked after in hospital

Pugprincess · 21/01/2021 20:01

@SkyBlue20 aw glad they are going to monitor you more as you don't get enough reassurace with feeling movements so hopefully this monitoring will provide that reassurance. Glad everything went well today when going in. X

@DanceM1 oh crikey so you have had a day of it too, I still check when I wipe I don't think that will ever go away but to actually see it is another thing, glad baby is good. Xx

@Sakura54 aw if it helps my friend who's also 34 weeks has been told her baby is 3 pounds and shes having steroids and weekly scans now. I tried to reassure her that they can be quite out with their estimates. She very petite herself. X

I've just been tesco for neutral baby bits and that's it all sorted now until I know if it's pink or blue. Unless they estimate my babies weight to be tiny then I would need more newborn or ring baby as I literally only have a few bits in those to take hospital just incase. DH would have to rush out and grab bits if it's not fitting first size when born xx

bubblybon20 · 21/01/2021 20:08

@SkyBlue20 hope you're okay! Sounds like she's defo keeping you on your toes, at least they're taking you seriously and doing what they can to reassure you, by monitoring you!

@Sakura54 it's weird how all of us have needed growth scans! I think the whole tape is so inaccurate, I mean my bump hasn't seem to have grown for a few weeks according to that.. but I don't know! 🤷🏻‍♀️
Hopefully she stays as long as possible, to add those extra bits of weight on! How much did your son weigh? I know you've mentioned it before but I honestly read so much on here 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's good that they are offering you extra scans though!

Starfish762 · 21/01/2021 20:29

@SkyBlue20 oh what a little tinker keeping worrying you for that long! Glad you’re getting extra checks now, hopefully some extra reassurance for you & will help the anxiety ease. Can’t believe someone was in for excess movements though, didn’t realise that was a thing?!

@DanceM1 OMG how scary! You poor thing! So pleased everything was okay, but understand how annoying it is when ‘it’s just one of those things’ - when the doctors don’t even know why it’s hard to relax isn’t it. But as lots of us with bleeding have experienced it really is just one of those things.

@Sakura54 what did your other baby weigh? My MW & sonographer told me last time that the last month they grow on average half a pound a week, so that should put you to a lovely weight if you go full term? Also remember they get the estimated weights wrong a lot! DD was born on due date at 5lb11 which is diddy but she was perfectly healthy 🙂

Simmy20 · 21/01/2021 21:04

Wow stressful time for a few of you ladies. Weird that it's all happened at the same time. Glad you are all getting extra support so hope that eases the stress a bit.

daisyhrl · 22/01/2021 06:26

Congratulations @Simmy20 and @SenoraSurf - really feel you on the anxiety front... Have been pretty much constantly sure something was going or had gone wrong for the whole of the last two months... It's exhausting.

@DanceM1Poor you - a big scare. Thank goodness nothing obviously wrong - fingers crossed your little one comes exactly when he/she is ready!

@SkyBlue20 I'm sorry that must be scary but great that they're monitoring you more closely now...

@DanceM1 Oo jealous of your NCT classes... Sounds super useful - feel like there's so much I know nothing about! Ha. I'm in France so none available in English and not sure my language is up to classes in French!

On that note - any recommendations for online versions of something like NCT classes? Youtube channel that takes you through all the basics?? Recommendations would be much appreciated!

Had my 12 week scan yesterday and saw a very wriggly, healthy looking little thing! Has changed my attitude completely. I was in total denial before, but have decided to tell people and get excited now. I'm sure I'll have plenty of moments worry and fear again, but somehow feel free to choose not to focus on things going wrong since the scan. It's the farthest along I've got so far, so it means a lot to me!

Interestingly, scan guy was pretty sure it's a girl, which is what my acupuncturist said with absolute certainty when I saw her at 5 weeks! So excited...

@daisyhrl yeyyyy! Congratulations! What’s your due date & I’ll add you to our list? So many girlies on this group 💗

daisyhrl · 22/01/2021 08:48

@Starfish762 I'm in France so my due date isn't until 14th August!! (They do 41 weeks here...) But I'm operating on UK due dates so 7th :)

Starfish762 · 22/01/2021 08:51

@daisyhrl ahh yes I remember finding that out when I done hypnobirthing when pregnant with DD. A reminder of why the UK’s obsession with due date & inducing is so silly!

Workingmama1 · 22/01/2021 09:38

@daisyhrl congratulations on your 12 week scan! A big milestone indeed. I've not done any online antenatal (did NCT last time) but am considering the Positive Birth Company's post partum pack, it's reduced to £20 until Monday, so figured it might be a good refresher, plus I like their oneline hyponobirthing course.

Had a horrible dream last night where I started bleeding, but jad forgotten I was pregnant and thought it was mid cycle bleeding, then remembered I was pregnant and actually I hadn't felt the baby move. I've not had a scsrt dream like that for ages and it really disturbed me. Tha kfully baby started kicking when I woke up.

@skyblue20 I meant to say yesterday, you could ask your midwife about weekly monitoring, mine was lovely at the very beginning and said if I thought I needed it we could.have weekly appointments to listen into the heartbeat or if I was ever anxious on the days she was in yo ring up and she would see if she could squeeze me in.

29 weeks for me today, next milestone is 30 weeks next Friday, then have booked a private growth scan (for the 4d but also to reassure baby is growing!) for 2 weeks time.

Workingmama1 · 22/01/2021 09:40

And a little bump update. Stretching out a non maternity dress...not sure how long I will get away with it for!

Pregnant After MMC - Thread 5
SkyBlue20 · 22/01/2021 11:36

Morning all!
Thanks for your well wishes. Strangely, I'm not too worried about baby girl in general - we had that private scan the other week where all was perfect, but I worry when I have the lack of movements as all sorts goes through my head about what could be wrong (placenta failing, cord wrapped around the neck, you name it), so I'm glad I'm getting the increased monitoring to keep an eye on her but I feel she's generally ok within herself, it just makes me constantly think somethings goes wrong when she goes quiet, if that makes sense? I've probably read too much and my anxiety is definitely coming in to play!
Good news is that she's much more active today - still not massively active but a lot more than yesterday, lots of tiny little wriggles. We just keep joking now about how she's definitely inherited our laziness!

@Poppy10121 Yes, I've been making note of when she moves and yesterday I put it all on to a piece of paper and tried to make sense of any patterns or anything and there's just nothing, she's all over the place 🤷🏻‍♀️

@DanceM1 Oh how terrifying! Glad all looked ok though and hope your swab comes back clear. I'm with you on wanting baby to stay in to be safe but also wanting them here now!

@Sakura54 Urm, it's very up and down - she has a lot more active days and then some really quiet ones. I have this theory that when she's quiet, she's doing a lot of growing, as I get super tired at the same time - like this morning, I could not open my eyes! Probably a load of rubbish.
Glad you're being looked after and they're keeping an eye on baby. Sounds like you have little ones and it's nothing to worry about but nice to have the extra checks all the same.

@Starfish762 I think she was in as she said baby was really thrashing about and it wasn't normal, she said it was really quite worrying in that it was quite rough and different from his usual. I have read anecdotally that that can be a sign of distress but the doctor just kept saying that ANY change in movement should be reported and she was all up for inducing today just to be safe. But then she did also ask if the woman had had more caffeine than normal as it could just be that!

@daisyhrl Yay, congrats on your scan! Enjoy telling people, it's so lovely. As NCT is all being done online at the moment, I wonder if you got in touch with them if you could join one of their classes anyway? I know usually it's all done by area but I had a nosey the other day and it doesn't seem to be as much like that as usual. Worth asking.
In terms of birth etc, I'm doing the Positive Birth Company digital pack and it's really good - some of it isn't for me but it's very informative and I've learnt a LOT!

@Workingmama1 What a horrible dream, so sorry that happened. Happy 29 weeks! I know I keep saying it but it's all come around so quickly - I swear we were on the TTC boards about 5mins ago. Your bump looks lovely and I love your dress. I can't remember the last time I got dressed properly, definitely just wanting to be comfortable nowadays 😂
Yes will definitely speak to my midwife if/when the hospital monitoring ends - in the past they've just been like 'well go to the hospital if ever you're worried' but now I have a new MW, I feel like she might be a bit more useful!

Almost the weekend, ladies - another week down.

DanceM1 · 22/01/2021 11:59

Thank you everyone! It was really scary but im similar to @SkyBlue20 in that generally I've been feeling like baby is ok. I feel movement all the time and thats lovely. Its just hard not to let the anxiety take over when something does happen. This morning I've felt a bit like ive had period pains at times. Im putting this down to baby's position and trying not to jump to terrible conclusions just because of what happened yesterday. Could it even be braxton hicks?

@daisyhrl congratulations on your scan- you must be thrilled! NCT is all on zoom at the moment so you could probably still join one you know! You have to put your area in online to book but perhaps you could just contact them. I dont see why they wouldn't let you join.

@Workingmama1 I feel like your dream might be my fault sorry 🙈 I was having similar dreams and woke up feeling really on edge. One thing I've really taken from the NCT classes though is how much better it is to be calm and release oxytocin rather than let myself worry crazily and release adrenalin, stressing baby out! So I'm trying to keep distracted, enjoy baby kicking me in the ribs 🤣 and think ill put some nice music on while I have lunch!

Poppy10121 · 22/01/2021 12:59

@SkyBlue20 I think I was writing to you at the same time you were writing an update yesterday, I'm so glad you had a good outcome and have got the monitoring you wanted. I have the same theory as you about the baby being quiet when they're growing a lot - I've had exactly the same thing where I am more tired on low-movement days. I've not been to the hospital as I'm too scared of Covid so I think I'd have to feel nothing for a while to force me into there though!

@DanceM1you poor thing, that sounds really stressful, I hope everything is ok!

@daisyhrl congratulations on your scan :-) That's the worst wait over with now!

@Workingmama1 your bump is looking lovely :-)

I feel very un-monitored during this pregnancy, I've only had 1 face to face midwife appointment at 28 weeks where they measured me, and I won't have another until 34 weeks apparently, so no idea how anyone would track if baby is the right size - just have to have faith!

Threnody · 22/01/2021 13:09

@senorasurf congratulations! I've been incredibly anxious this pregnancy. As others have said, little milestones are a good way to deal with it.

@skyBlue20 sorry you're having this stress, these babies like to worry us. Glad they are keeping such a good eye on you, and that she's moving more today.

@DanceM1 oh gosh, how scary! Glad baby was ok, and hope it was a one off and all is fine.

@Sakura54 glad you got a scan and get another one. I think they don't worry about breech if it's an elcs, they didn't with my youngest.

@bubblybon the bump measuring is quite inaccurate, it's such a small margin, and if they're just out by a little it looks a lot on the chart.

@starfish762 it's changes in movement pattern, excess movement could mean baby is in distress.

@daisyhrl congratulations on your 12 week scan. Such a relief isn't it!

@workingmama1 look at that bump! Sorry you had a horrible dream.

I've got my 20 week scan this afternoon. I was feeling ok about it yesterday as was getting lots of movement, but starting to get anxious now, as haven't had much movement today. We've got my 5 year old home too, so we'll have to take him with us, and I expect he won't be allowed in to the scan, and I'll have to go on my own, so I'm quite nervous about that.

Threnody · 22/01/2021 16:37

All was fine, though I had to do all sorts to get him to move. It was odd being on my own. She spent ages looking at the heart and I was starting to get worried, but it was ok.

Pregnant After MMC - Thread 5
DanceM1 · 22/01/2021 17:13

Congratulations @Threnody thats wonderful news!! Im sorry you had to go in on your own. I had to go on my own yesterday and was so scared! Did your partner not manage to go in even for the end of the scan?

Sakura54 · 22/01/2021 17:18

@DanceM1 Gosh, that must have been horrifying, but glad it was probably nothing. All of us would panic if we saw blood! Not long to go now.

Lovely news @Threnody feels like it was just the other day you moved to this thread.

Well she said she’d refer me for a scan to check position before asking how I delivered my first and how I was planning to deliver this time. Not sure if she would have cancelled as then the whole no growth thing came up so it was killing two birds with one stone lol.

@bubblybon20 @Starfish762 The fundal height measurement didn’t make sense for me as it said I was having a fat baby. I think the scan measurement may be somewhat accurate because DS was on the 13th centile when he was born - 5lb 6oz at 36w +4. I was actually supposed to have a 37w growth scan for him too due to GD, but obviously didn’t make it! If the sonographer had looked at my chart before opening his mouth, he would’ve seen that, yes, baby may be tiny right now but for my size and frame, it’s acceptable and nothing to be so confused about!

TBH I think both the MW and sonographer were already wary of the baby’s size beforehand as they both commented on my bump. I don’t mind or care and I joke with them because I know it’s strangely small, but you’d think they’d know not to say things like that to pregnant women right?!

@Sakura54 hopefully you can go as long as possible this time, sounds such a worry for you! I think you're bump looks fine for your frame and build,as you said you're all baby! X

Smilingdonkey · 22/01/2021 19:49

@daisyhrl congratulations!!! lovely picture ❤️

@workingmama1 beautiful bump! The dress looks fab - no way I could wear non maternity stuff now I don't think!

@skyblue20 this baby is all over the place too. I just think I don't notice her moving in the day because I'm busy at work - I feel her more when o lie down so I just have a low down when I get home from work and check I can feel her. Some days super active and other days hardly anything 🤷

@dancem1 I have had period like pains the last few days and I'm sure baby has dropped now - I think it might just be it all ramping up! I have the growth scan I missed tomorrow so hopefully they can tell me her position 🤞

@threnody - look at that little arm waving ❤️!!

@sakura all bumps are so different aren't they! She's just tucked away nicely in there 😊 x

Smilingdonkey · 22/01/2021 19:51

I think the baby had dropped. Bump has changed shape and lowered so I reckon she's head down too. Will find out tomorrow hopefully ! 34w on Sunday xxx

Excuse all the typos - this phone app is crap!

ew1990 · 22/01/2021 21:09

I'm going to try and have a proper catch up.

Congratulations on the scans! It's a lovely feeling.

@skyblue20 glad your getting extra monitoring.

@smilingdonkey @workingmama lovely bumps! I've not taken one for ages i feel like mine hasn't grown but yet I can't bend down and I'm so uncomfy 🙈

I'm so tired we've had to empty upstairs for it to be plastered tomorrow, I so cannot wait for the next few weeks for it all to be done. 33 weeks for me today, it's scary to think that in 4 weeks times she could come anytime 😳
