Hi all, just found this thread. Nice to read so many hopeful stories! I'm finally pregnant again after MMC in October 2019, (heartbeat stopped at 11 weeks, discovered at scan a week later, D&C week after that), and have my 12 week scan on Thursday... So nervous...

RosieJess91 · 18/01/2021 15:28

My dad is okay! He has pneumonia, but he hasn't needed any help with oxygen. Just kept him in for observation. He's waiting for a CT Scan, as long as that proves it's not too bad, he'll be sent home today. Just got to wait and see!

I've been having loads of Braxton hicks, kept waking me up and I've had them on and off all day. My OH is now panicking that I'm in early Labour! 😂 personally I just think the stress of my dad has been causing them. 30 weeks on Wednesday, definitely too early for him!!

Smilingdonkey · 18/01/2021 16:10

Welcome @daisyhrl! I'm sorry for your loss but excited for the 12w scan coming up 😊 xxx

Heartburn is a sign of a hairy baby guys! I think there is even science to back this one up! I'm on rennies and refreshers!

ew1990 · 18/01/2021 16:12

@daisyhrl welcome and congratulations

@smilingdonkey I had really bad heartburn with DD and she was bald till she was about 2 😂😂

Starfish762 · 18/01/2021 16:59

I’ve always wondered how true the hair thing is, I had shocking heartburn with DD & she was born with a head full of hair. It’s bad this time too & much earlier than DD so I’m dreading how bad it’ll get. Good tips on the sweets & the strong stuff from docs.

@RosieJess91 so pleased your dad is okay & getting out soon, what a worry! Braxton hicks prob the stress but just keep an eye.

@daisyhrl welcome! I’m sure all will be fine on Thurs, this thread is full of success stories it’s so lovely ❤️

DanceM1 · 18/01/2021 18:22

@Smilingdonkey yep! I was born with a head full of hair and my mum had terrible heartburn. They actually showed me baby's hair at the growth scan a couple of weeks ago!

Welcome @daisyhrl we all know the nerves all too well! Im sure all will go well! Have you had any private scans?

@RosieJess91 thats brilliant news about your dad. Im so so pleased to hear that!

daisyhrl · 18/01/2021 19:09

Thanks for the welcome all.

@DanceM1 Nope not had any scans yet. Last time, I had a private one at 8 weeks, saw a heartbeat and all was well then, which led to me feeling comfortable telling people, but then MMC. Because of that, I didn't feel like an early scan would reassure me this time, so I've just been waiting it out... I know everyone hates the 12 week milestone, but it'll be a big one for me this week if I can pass it.

Really interesting about the heartburn and hair thing. Not had any (though still very early) but oh my god the trapped wind... Feels like my ribcage is about to crack sometimes at the moment!! Any magic suggestions? (Have tried plenty of mint and movement...)

Lovely to see so many success stories in this group - really hoping I'll be able to add to them...

Poppy10121 · 18/01/2021 20:37

Hi @daisyhrl good luck for your scan!

@Workingmama1 wow your nursery looks amazing! I have ordered some similar wall stickers of animals and just today ordered some of the furniture, bath and other bits. Hoping everything arrives in time as there seem to be shipping delays with Brexit 🙄

@RosieJess91 so sorry to hear about your dad, how stressful 😔 I hope he is on the mend soon.

I’ve had a couple of really sleepless nights, think baby is in an odd position and using my bladder as a trampoline. On Saturday night I was up every hour for a wee, felt absolutely dead yesterday! Then felt like I didn’t feel as many movements yesterday but probably because I hardly moved myself. He’s having a dance party again tonight 😊

The heartburn sounds terrible, so interested in the hairy baby theory though! Maybe I’m having a bald one 😂

Lollol86 · 18/01/2021 21:28

@Workingmama1 I've seen that nursery before in our April group.

Lollol86 · 18/01/2021 21:32

Heartburn linked to hairy babies is definitely not true, I suffered really bad with both my girls and they were both bold 😂😂

Lollol86 · 18/01/2021 21:34

@daisyhrl congratulations, it's a really scary time but hopefully once you get the first scan out of the way you can relax a little xx

SkyBlue20 · 18/01/2021 21:56

Evening everyone!

@DanceM1 I haven’t bought a breast pump although a friend who has recently given birth recommended that I did buy one before baby arrives. I would like to pump eventually if I do breastfeed, so that DH can do some of the feeds, but that won’t be for the first while so will see how it goes as if I end up not being able to breastfeed, it could be a waste. Trying to not buy things that we may not end up using as I feel like we’ve spent SO much money already 🙈

@Workingmama1 Your nursery looks amazing! I so nearly bought that wallpaper for ours, kind of wishing I had now! Next time.

@Pugprincess I get acid reflux most days and am living on Love Hearts and similar types of sweets. I do get to a point where I’m like ‘urgh, no more sweets!’ but they do help.

@ew1990 Yay to two days sickness free! Must be such a relief!

@JennyMY How did the growth scan go?

Welcome, @daisyhrl. So sorry for your loss 💕 Hope the scan goes well on Thursday - the odds are in your favour, try to remember that. For the trapped wind I found the best relief was getting down on all fours and lowering my chest to the ground, so my bum is in the air. Hold it for a while and it did help!

@RosieJess91 So glad your dad is ok, I’ve been thinking of you. Is he home now?

Nothing much to report here, terrible night’s sleep so went straight to the couch after I finished work and am now going to peek myself off it to head to bed. Hopefully tonight will be a bit better. Hope everyone else is doing well! Xx

RosieJess91 · 19/01/2021 03:26

Well, midwife sent me to the maternity unit to be checked.

The CTG showed I was having mini contractions. But my cervix is closed, but irritated. Said I could suffer a small bleed within the next few days because they think it could be caused by either my low laying placenta moving upwards or I could have a condition called Irritable Uterus, which is apparently Braxton Hicks but stronger and more of them in a vague pattern.

They seemed to be more worried that although my baby was quite active, his heart rate wasn't echoing it. But they think that's down to my heart medication having an effect on his.

Either way, been sent home after a negative swab that shows that I won't be going into labour for at least the next 48 hours. 🤷🏼‍♀️

RosieJess91 · 19/01/2021 03:27

And @SkyBlue20, thanks, unfortunately he's still in hospital because they ran out of time to do a CT Scan and they put him on an antibiotics drip. So he's at least in for one more night!
Thank you for checking in 💗

Pugprincess · 19/01/2021 08:51

@RosieJess91 better news about your dad that's a relief but sorry to hear you now have another stress. If the placenta is moving that's good isn't it? As yours was over the cervix if I am right?

Thanks for all the heartburn talk and tips I feel less alone with my burning sickyness now, the chewing gum has made a big difference for me so far, think it's cause chewing gum tricks your stomach into thinkinh you are eating so it's using up some of that acid or something like that I think. Dont think your supposed to constantly chew or I guess it will produce more but it said half hour after eating, felt lovely after dinner last night 😊 and least my breaths fresh 😂😂😂

@daisyhrl sorry to hear about your previous loss but congratulations on the new pregnancy and I pray this scan goes well for you. Statistically we have a better chance second time around. We all know the worry especially at the beginning. We all still worry now though, I don't think pregnancy is ever quite the same after a loss. But we all enjoy the lovely moments and keep going forward for those. One day at a time xx

bubblybon20 · 19/01/2021 10:54

Relieved! Baby is measuring all in track, and around 5lb 5oz. So defo not small 😂

Pregnant After MMC - Thread 5
Threnody · 19/01/2021 11:45

Hi all, finding it really hard to keep up with everything, have so much going on. My grandad is 99 and bedridden, he's stopped eating, so doesn't have much time left. My eldest is at hospital today having a series of blood tests to check his growth hormones, plus the usual fun of work, homeschooling him, looking after the younger two. Feel frazzled most of the time.
I'm 20 weeks today, and getting much more movement now, and my husband felt a kick last night, despite the anterior placenta.

We're struggling with names, after 2 boys already. We don't really agree. We have Harry on our shortlist.

I've not had heartburn with any of mine, and all have been born with lots of hair. With my first, he had to have a blood test during labour to check he was OK, which involved a guy sticking his hand up and scratching his head - he joked he was giving him his first haircut!

Re breastpumps, I had a hospital one to express for my first who had a cleft palate so couldn't feed. With my other two I just breastfed them and never needed a pump at all. Just did a bit of hand expressing to get milk for mixing in food at the start of weaning. It depends if you want oh to help with feeds, but the recommendation is not to use bottle at the start to avoid nipple confusion and breast refusal.

@bubblybon20 that's a lovely picture!

@RosieJess91 sorry you have more to worry about, and sorry to hear your dad has pneumonia. Hope he is better soon.
@daisyhrl sorry for your loss, and congratulations! It's a long wait for that 12 week scan, isn't it! Fingers crossed for you.

SkyBlue20 · 19/01/2021 12:07

@RosieJess91sorry to hear your dad is still in, hope he can get home today 🤞🏼 Sorry to hear about the pregnancy stresses, too, sounds like all is under control but must be a worry. Hope you can have a nice relaxing day today, you deserve one!

@bubblybon20 Fab news! Definitely not small, either! 🥰

@Threnody So sorry to hear about your grandad 😔 Sounds like you have a lot going on, don't forget to look after yourself, too, amongst everything - even if it's just half an hour sitting in your bedroom with the door shut and a cuppa while DH takes over the parenting.

Baby's having another quiet day so far today but her mornings are always quieter than her afternoons so trying not to worry. God I can't wait until she's here and I don't have to monitor movements 😫

RosieJess91 · 19/01/2021 12:47

@Pugprincess yes, mines the one covering the cervix. It is good news, if that's what it is. Got to wait until the 19th Feb to find out for sure!

Just seen my midwife for what should have been my 28 week appointment, but is actually 30 weeks... My blood pressure was 92/52?? Isn't that low? She didn't seem worried, but considering she was worried when it was 102, just a bit confused.

Starfish762 · 19/01/2021 12:55

@RosieJess91 oh gosh even more worry for you. Sending love, hopefully little man will surprise you & sit tight for a lot longer!

@Threnody wow you have got a lot on your plate! Sorry to hear that about your Grandad 😔 Hope your son’s apt goes as well as it can. Definitely try to take time for yourself where you can, even if a 30m silent cuppa while kids having food or watching TV, or if you get get DH to take charge of bath time (we take turns, but obv a lot easier with 1!)

@bubblybon20 yey! Another lovely pic too 🥰

bubblybon20 · 19/01/2021 13:00

@Threnody sorry to here about your grandad 😞
In regards to name choosing, I've never realised how difficult it is to choose another boys name either! 😂

Thankyou all 😀 was shocked to have a photo, as they didn't give me one at my 28 week appointment!

JennyMY · 19/01/2021 17:53

Posted this in wrong thread, silly me!!!

@bubblybon20 What a lovely picture - look at that cute little nose!
@SkyBlue20 My growth scan was a little worrying as he's gone down to the 14th centile for weight, mainly because his AC measurements are small. They don't seem too worried - just say he is on the 'petite side'! And his Doppler readings are all good. But I'm having another scan in two weeks, when I'll be 37 weeks, just to check his delivery doesn't need to brought forward. I'm pretty anxious despite reassurances, especially after having lost his twin, but I'm trying to listen to the experts and trust they know what they're doing...😕
I'm enjoying getting everything ready for his arrival - has anyone started to get their hospital bags ready yet?? 😊 xx

DanceM1 · 19/01/2021 19:36

Yeyy excellent news @bubblybon20 lovely picture too. They gave me a picture at my last growth scan but honestly its laughable.. can't really see anything and I was too stressed at the time to even look at it. When I got it out and showed my husband the other day he was like "is that a joke?" Haha

@RosieJess91 sorry you have more to worry about! It will be great if it is your placenta moving upwards! Hope your dad is home soon and that you manage to relax about baby. Im sure everything will be fine but I know its so easy to say that!

@Threnody sounds like you have a lot going on!! Hope you're doing ok

@SkyBlue20 yeah I feel exactly the same with expressing. Think I will wait and see!

@daisyhrl ahh that makes sense i can completely understand that. Good luck for Thursday. You're right- its a huge milestone and once you pass it, it will be lovely to tell people if thats what you want to do!

Sakura54 · 19/01/2021 20:55

@RosieJess91 Glad your dad is ok and hope he makes a full recovery. Hope you don’t go into premature labour though! My BP is that low sometimes too but it’s still within the ideal range, so they’ve never said anything apart from to keep hydrated.

@Threnody Sorry about your grandad. Your house sounds hectic, you must be a super mum. I bet you’re doing a great job.

I really like that wallpaper. The room looks so cosy and nice @Workingmama1

@daisyhrl Welcome and good luck! A lot of us got bad news at the 12w scan so it’s especially a huge milestone for us. Do let us know.

Baby is a good size already, that’s good. That
was nearly the size of mine when I had him lol @bubblybon20

@JennyMY I packed my bags a few weeks ago as I’m at a slight higher risk of premature labour. Hoping to have my CS scheduled not too long after yours, but I don’t find out the date until practically last minute.

DS was born with a full head of hair, but I don’t really get heartburn. We shaved it all off when he was a few months old to let it grow evenly and then a few more times after as it grows quick. Will prob shave this one’s head earlier then see how long it takes to grow long seeing as it’s a girl! Pics are of his hair at birth and after shaving:
