Hi
I did a post last night just don't know what to do :-(
I'm 4+5 I think. Clear blue yesterday said 1-2 weeks.
Last night had some red specks of blood then this morning pinkish and red blood. I've attached photos. Literally like my period is starting!

What do I do? I don't even know what to think!

Should I contact anyone?

Thanks xx

Look up implantation bleed, it will be red like fresh blood, but probably not a lot then you can get brown (old blood). It doesn't mean the worse, unless you start heavily bleeding I would wait it out. If you do miscarry early you will still get positive test results until the hormones return to a normal level. Your pictures show very little blood, fingers crossed you will be fine, there are quite a few reasons you can bleed during pregnancy and it doesn't always mean something bad. It's a horrible time, not knowing which way it will go, try and find something to keep yourself busy and distracted! I had the same at 5 weeks, then brown at 6 weeks.....only at 8 weeks now but it has stopped. Good luck!

I know it's hard but stop torturing yourself and wiping. Phone your GP

CaliCat2306 · 31/12/2020 09:20

@xem87 Hi there - I went through almost exactly the same thing around your stage of pregnancy - it’s such a worry! I ended up calling my local EPU at just over 5 weeks and they right away offered me to come in for a scan. All was fine and I was actually a little further along than I thought. The nurse said unless you have painful cramping and heavy bleeding where you need to use a pad and even soak through it, spotting is so normal in early pregnancy. I still have brown discharge often when I wipe now (7 weeks +1) and have kind of resigned myself to thinking it’s just one of those things. Call your EPU if you are worried - mine were great. And then you get the certainty you need. Hope it all works out for you

xem87 · 31/12/2020 09:28

Thanks @CaliCat2306 xxxx
Was your bleeding like this? I've rang GP awaiting a call back from duty doctor I'm trying to not stress but isn't easy is it 🙁 thank you so much for your reply it's hard because no one really knows except us so can't talk to anyone apart from here xx

No problem - we’re all in the same boat :) It was only ever dark brown discharge for me but everyone is different. You can read thousands of threads on here and talk yourself into any possible outcome but that won’t change what’s actually happening in your body (this is advice to myself by the way as I can’t help myself either!) try to distract yourself if you can and just know that there is literally nothing that you can do either way. Really hoping it’s good news for you and that you get the advice and certainty you need... I think you can still try the epu even if you have called your doctor by the way. Just if you need the extra reassurance xx

This happened to me, unfortunately in my case it was a very early loss but not all bleeding will be!

Tested positive at 4 weeks but had spotting 5 days later, called GP who said to wait it out. Got heavier more like a period with cramps, 111 were nice but said unfortunately nothing they could do this early and just to test in a few days.

Tbh it was hard being left to it, but I did understand why as they can't help that early. I fell pregnant again the very next month tho!

Take care and don't hesitate to call 111 if your GP aren't helpful x

Monkeytennis97 · 31/12/2020 09:50

If it's any consolation I had a lot more than that and it was fine-proper pad soaking (sorry tmi). Hopefully you will be too, thinking of you x

Funkypickle · 31/12/2020 09:56

Sorry that you're going through this op even if it all goes well. This kind of stress is horrible. This has happened to me several times.

Chemical - lines on the test never got darker faded was about a week late for my period.

Miscarriage x 2- both started like this 6 and 9 weeks.

Ectopic x 2 - similar bleeding from 6 weeks started pink and then every colour in between.

My last ectopic was Sept. Call your gp. They will probably have you in for bloods to check your hcg over a couple days and may monitor it until it either goes up or down. They may and usually do send you for a scan at the EPU as well. Unfortunately most EPU will not see you unless you have been referred by a gp. A&E will see you make sure you are stable and then book you in to see someone at the EPU for a scan. 111 may also see you. When I spoke to 111 in Sept they basically referred me back to my. Gp.

Rule of thumb for pregnancy if it worries you or doesn't seem right speak to someone.

For more info check out the NHS website.

Good luck and I hope all goes well.

Thanks so much everyone. I've just spoken to a lovely doctor at my GP surgery.

I can go for bloods today and then Monday to check HCG levels. I feel slightly better not that it will change anything but least it might help show whats going on.

He said it's good I don't have any severe pain but he said can go either way so just have to wait it out.

Does anything think any benefit doing repeat pregnancy tests?

Sorry to read this. When did you do the test last? With my last miscarriage at 5-6 weeks I knew I was going to mc before I started bleeding as the tests were faint and didn’t get stronger over time. So you could retest to see if the line is darker or not but it might just stress you out more. Waiting is all you can do really. I hope it works out for you.

xem87 · 31/12/2020 10:24

I did the clear blue on last night said 1-2 weeks. I last did first response ER one on 25th xx

Hi, I had bleeding early in my pregnancy. I called the EPU (you can refer yourself directly in my area). The midwife on duty told me to wait it out for a week, take another test and call back if it was still positive. This is what I did, went to the EPU at 5 weeks + 3 and they couldn’t see much on the scan as it was too early. Called me back at 7 weeks and saw a baby measuring exactly on my dates with a heartbeat! I’m 14 weeks now and the 12 week scan was fine. Apparently implantation bleeding can be caused by an increase in the hormones and may also cause the cervix to be irritated (so implantation bleeding isn’t just the embryo “bedding down”)

The waiting is hard but it’s best not to torment yourself with constantly checking (easier said than done!). Just try to rest. If there is no pain that’s a good sign. I would test again in a week.

Good luck, I hope you get some answers from the bloods.

Sceptre86 · 31/12/2020 10:41

Try to keep calm and rest. Is your period due around now? I had bleeding when my period was expected both times I was pregnant, the bleeding was just as heavy as a period but didn't last as long as mine usually do (4days as opposed to 7). Both pregnancies developed normally and i have dd and ds. Bleeding is not always bad news but this early there is no way of knowing. If it gets heavier phone gp x

xem87 · 31/12/2020 11:05

My period was due 26th Dec - got my positive on 25th and 27th xx

Had first blood test done. Bleeding heavier and red now no clots but pretty such miscarriage x

Just wanted to say thanks again for all being so lovely xxx

Thank you xx

So sorry you’re going through this @xem87 :( what did your blood test say? I’m not sure about the positive pregnancy test. I’ve read up to a few days/ week depending on how far a long you are but your doctor should be able to give you answers. Don’t loose hope until they confirm with you x

Rumples · 01/01/2021 10:43

After my CP I got a negative test within a week of starting to bleed - probably as it was so early on the hormones didn't get very high.

Hope you're okay!

@xem87 looks like implantation bleeding to me x
xem87 · 01/01/2021 14:18

It got really heavy yesterday filled 1 pad. Lots when wiping of red blood. Lots of blood in toilet. Today it's nearly stopped just when I wipe again. I'm assuming it's a chemical pregnancy. I did a test tho how morning and best cheapie I've done! My period was due 26th, so surely would have implanted by now? I really don't know what to think 🙁 I've not really had pain but was a lot of blood. Xx

Thinking of you OP. Are you ok?

Does that cheapie test not have a positive control line? To me that looks like the control line and no positive test line?? X

JS87 · 01/01/2021 14:28

I can now see a second line if I zoom in which I presume is the positive it is faint though. So sorry you’re going through this.
