Hi,
This is my first time posting. I'm not sure if I can share pictures on here but I have done a pregnancy test that came up with a very faint positive result. It came up straight away and got stronger during the 3 minutes but I'd be very, very early if it is positive as I'm only due my period next week.

The suspense is killing me and my boyfriend is convinced that it's just a weird and incorrect result.

Should I wait a couple of days to test again? Does anyone know the best pregnancy tests to use?

Hi! Could you have got your dates incorrect? It's common when your cycle is irregular.

You're more likely to get a false negative rather than a false positive, also did you test with a first response maybe?

A tentative congrats!

olderthanyouthink · 28/12/2020 23:29

Probably pregnant but first response early result are really good ones if you need to double check

Lisakathryn · 29/12/2020 00:10

Thanks I'll try those.

The faintness is stressing me out! 🙈 I can't post a picture to show it.

@ree348 @olderthanyouthink

Hi I've done two first response tests today. They both have very, very faint pink lines. I'm driving myself insane because I don't know what the difference is between an evaporation line/ indent line and a positive? Apparently first response show indents qnd these can be pink?

I'm just going out of my mind with not knowing Hmm. But they both have these 2 very faint pink lines. I still can't upload a photo though.

What do you think?

OP posts:
ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 29/12/2020 22:59

Evaporation lines don't have colour they are normally grey so if it's pink I'd say it's a positive. FRERs are well known for being able to detect super early I had a positive at 9DPO

Good luck

Lisakathryn · 29/12/2020 23:04

@ThirdTimeLuckyIHope

Oh wow, really? I think because its so faint, I'm not letting myself get excited.

Do you know much about indent lines? I've been frantically googled those to see if it could be one. But I'm assuming for it to happen on two tests at different points of the day wouldn't be common?

Sorry for all the questions but this makes you go out of your mind!

OP posts:
ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 29/12/2020 23:07

@Lisakathryn I've used a lot of FRERs and I've never had any indents or evap lines

The best thing to do is use first morning wee tomorrow and do another one but in my experience if it has colour and came up within the time I'd say it's looking good

It's very unlikely to get two false positives

wilsonbump · 29/12/2020 23:14

@Lisakathryn I had VERY faint positives on cycle day 21. So way earlier than I was supposed to be able to get a positive. If you snap open the first response tests and look at the back of the strip the line is easier to see as it's not shiny. Also in 2 days they will be much darker. I'm now almost 14 weeks so I would say you're definitely pregnant. Congrats! X

80sColourfulChristmas · 29/12/2020 23:16

Here's mine, so it is very possible! Another tentative congrats

(Those pics taken 1 week before period due)

80sColourfulChristmas · 29/12/2020 23:19

First intercourse in over a year too, for various reasons, so definitely not from previous month

Lisakathryn · 29/12/2020 23:32

Ok I'll test again in a few days. Fingers crossed. I just wish I could post a photo!

OP posts:
ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 29/12/2020 23:35

@Lisakathryn you'll be able to in a couple of days just look out for the paper lip appearing

I'll keep my fingers crossed

Lisakathryn · 29/12/2020 23:41

Thank you.

I've convinced myself that they're indent lines so that I don't get disappointed. Apparently first response are notorious for them.

I'll let you know.

ree348 · 30/12/2020 08:56

Sounds very promising OP! Like someone else said - do first morning wee with a first response and the line should be darker.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/12/2020 09:03

If it shows within the time limit and has colour, its probably not an indent. Indents are colourless or only happen after too much time has passed and the dye has resettled across the test

wilsonbump · 30/12/2020 10:27

@Lisakathryn here's my super faint if it helps. So faint that it's hard to see colour. I got a positive on a clear blue digital 2 days later x

Well I've just used a cheap one that I have in my drawer but it's was a complete negative. Not even a hint of a line. So I'm really confused now 🙈

OP posts:
TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/12/2020 11:43

First response tests will be much more sensitive than a cheap one. Also hormones only double every few days. Wait 2 days then use a FRER. If you are pregnant, itll be a clean line

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 30/12/2020 12:21

@Lisakathryn the cheap ones aren't good before AF is due I barely had a line until a day after I was meant to get AF

Lisakathryn · 30/12/2020 12:46

Right OK. This is the worst waiting game of all time!!
Thanks so much for all your help, I'll keep you updated x

OP posts:
Lisakathryn · 30/12/2020 13:46

This is similar to what mine looked like but I can't get a good picture of it.

I heard inverted the picture works and they all have a glow but I can't tell if the glow is green 🤔 it's all just a big stress! Lesson learned though that I'm NOT testing unless I'm late for my period in future! (If this is negative!)

OP posts:
mollieangel123 · 30/12/2020 14:17

I always used to use FRER but never again will I it caused so much confusion and incorrect answers... I find the strips are the best ones to use there so reliable

This is my test 7 days before I was due hope this helps ☺️ I did do one 3 days before this one and was negative then 3 days later it was positive x

@mollieangel123 right OK. I'm putting it down to dodgy tests then. Thanks xx

mollieangel123 · 30/12/2020 15:09

@Lisakathryn I think you should wait a couple of days it doesn't look dodgy to me x
