@Lisakathryn

Erm, so I'm experiencing some pretty big anxiety at the moment. Does anyone have any advice how to calm down for the next few weeks or some good strategies? I don't know why I'm feeling like this, it's totally overriding the joy and excitement that I should be feeling.
Hi Lisa, I'm feeling the exact same. I have no advice but I just hope we get through it. I'd definitely book an early scan they always help me. X
2020mc · 05/01/2021 07:57

Really sorry to hear about the bad anxiety. Everyone's different but things that work for me are walks and relaxing music. Have you looked at mind or headspace apps? If it's not controllable would you speak to your gp?

My boobs seem to have grown already 😩 I had to go up a cup size at the weekend and I've just put on a dress that's now really tight on the bust 😱 is it normal for them to grow already 😧 they're pretty tender. P.S. i have check and I haven't put on any Christmas pounds so it's not that 🤣

Lisakathryn · 05/01/2021 08:01

It's kind of comforting in itself that I'm not alone ❤

@2020mc yes to the boob thing. They're very painful and huge. Also I'm sure big veins have appeared that I've never seen before. My boyfriend thinks it's the funniest thing!

Ralala · 05/01/2021 08:02

We had a miscarriage last time so this time I’m taking it one day at a time. I haven’t downloaded any of the apps to tell the exact date and I’m just trying my best to muddle through. I am going to call the midwife in a week or so and take it from there. I’m about 6 weeks now.

The one thing I would say is there is nothing you can do to prevent a loss at this stage. Taking tests all the time won’t help or reassure as most ladies still show positive for a few weeks after a loss anyway. I would think an early scan mag give reassurance but if you can wait until 8 weeks for heartbeat and development etc.

Everyone is different and will have different coping methods so best to do what works for you xxx

wrensandrobins · 05/01/2021 08:05

@2020mc I read yesterday that your boobs grow in the first 3 months and after that stay at that size, until the baby is born. So most of the growing boobwise is now!

Narla2020 · 05/01/2021 08:08

Hi everyone,

I've been keeping updated with this thread for a while but finally plucked up the courage to join. I had a chemical pregnancy at 5 weeks earlier in the year (which was my first pregnancy) so been filled with anxiety this time. I'm now officially past that point (5+1, only just but it's the little wins) and feeling good so I thought I'd join in. EDD 8th September.

@Lisakathryn I am filled with anxiety due to our previous loss and everyone is different but the things which are helping me are:

  • walks - as much as possible whatever the weather, even if it's just 5 minutes.
  • taking it one day at a time & being thankful that 'today I am pregnant'
  • trying to accept symptoms (whether they're there or lack of) for what they are and not dwell on any of them (again or lack of) too much, they have changed almost daily for me anyway.
  • Making little milestones each day/ week - trying not to think too far ahead.
I hope that helps in some way.

Congratulations to you all & hope you're all doing okay.

Scotti84 · 05/01/2021 11:15

@Scaredycat101 forgot to mention I got ginger tea to help with the nausea, I find that helps keep it away enough to be able to force some food down, might be worth a try?

@Darklava09 how are things with you? Still less pains I hope x

Eyeofthetiger8881 · 05/01/2021 11:19

Congrats everyone. Can I join? Had 3 positives over the past few days, didn't believe the first as I weed on the control window of first test so thought it was invalid but 2 more done and positive and no af. Think due date will be 13th September. First timer, strange not being able to tell anyone apart from oh. Stupid to ask but should I ring GP to let them know now or wait a week or two?

VNttc · 05/01/2021 11:32

@eyeofthetiger8881 congratulations! At the moment it seems as though ladies are getting their first appointments when they're around 8 weeks?

I think most places you have to self refer to midwives as well :)

Its my first as well but I have had to tell a few work people and a couple of friends. As I saw someone mention before, if you would want their support if something bad happened then tell them now x

2021mumma · 05/01/2021 11:51

Congratulations to all the new BFPs I’ve been feeling really sick since I found out, yesterday was awful but today I feel amazing completely normal and now I’m panicking something wrong 😬

VNttc · 05/01/2021 12:29

Symptoms can come and go from day to day I think :) how far along are you now? I think proper constant morning sickness kicks in at 6 weeks!

Curiosity101 · 05/01/2021 12:41

@2021mumma I felt similar to what you describe in my first pregnancy. Once the morning sickness and exhaustion really kicked in I was utterly miserable. Try to enjoy this time, think of it as the calm before the storm!

There's also no correlation between strength of symptoms and how strong/healthy a pregnancy is. Although it's very natural to worry of course!

2021mumma · 05/01/2021 12:49

@Curiosity101@VNttc thank you I think I’m 5 weeks today (last period 1st Dec) this is my third pregnancy I never usually get sick till around 8 weeks and get very sick (end up on anti sickness tablets) so very surprised to feel horrendous at 3/4 weeks. Now I want to feel sick again- crazy this pregnancy business! Thank you both

danigrace · 05/01/2021 13:13

@Lisakathryn @joanne1062 I'd really recommend CBT if the anxiety is becoming intrusive rather than just irksome. www.nhs.uk/service-search/find-a-psychological-therapies-service/ you can self refer and get prioritised when you are pregnant although they'll still be a bit of a wait - worst that can happen by self refering is if you don't need it anymore by the time it's your turn someone else gets bumped up the queue. Nothing to lose and made a massive difference for me last time around xx

danigrace · 05/01/2021 13:17

Big congratulations to all the new BFPs!

Idreamof2more · 05/01/2021 16:03

Hi ladies sorry if this is tmi but for you of you that’s constipated have you caused hemmaroids that have bled a tiny amount. I’m really struggling and never exp this before was the tiniest slack but scared me. Sure didn’t come from anywhere else. Anyone had this or know what’s good to eat to avoid it x

Curiosity101 · 05/01/2021 16:32

@Idreamof2more Hemmaroids after constipation are really really common. As is a bit of bleeding.

I'd consider what the cause of the constipation is and see if you can remove it. Often it's the iron in the prenatal vitamin, some people are better on different iron supplements like Spatone or Floradix. It could just be normal for you though?

Normal recommendations are things like more fibre and drinking more water. Also eating a few prunes each day or drinking a glass of prune juice.

If natural remedies don't do the job or you want a more guaranteed fix then I highly recommend lactulose (I had it post birth last time and it was a saviour!). I'm just not sure if it's allowed in pregnancy but you can ask your GP what they recommend.

Hope you're feeling better soon 😊

Idreamof2more · 05/01/2021 16:45

@Curiosity101 thank you so much for your comment really kind. Really need to stop typing in a rush I’m shocked you could even understand what my previous message read. Will get some more fibre into my diet and grab some bran tomorrow x

TinyPuds · 05/01/2021 18:19

Is anybody else around 4 weeks and absolutely exhausted?? I can’t keep my eyes open in the afternoons!! 😴😴

Idreamof2more · 05/01/2021 18:34

@TinyPuds meeeeee and have a little one who won’t sit still 😴

Curiosity101 · 05/01/2021 18:57

@TinyPuds I'm definitely unusually tired in the afternoons. I'm finding I'm 'alright' in the morning so I've just moved my daily coffee to around 2-3pm instead.

Scotti84 · 05/01/2021 19:49

Sorry if tmi, I’ve just been to the loo and noticed red blood when I wiped with three small clots, ive had no more cramps than usual, still feel nauseaus and tired. Should I be worried? They were really quite small like smaller than a 5p and very dark red. I don’t know if I should worry or not? Google says everything from its normal to its a mc. Anyone else experienced this?

Mydadoffsailing · 05/01/2021 19:58

Hello all! I hope you dont mind me joiningSmile Im 3w6d now, got my first positive a week ago and my period would be due today.
Hopefully this pregnancy stays and my period will not come. Had two chemical pregnancies and so really scared, that i will see blood. hopefully soon i can relax. I hope you are all well! xx

Curiosity101 · 05/01/2021 20:32

@Scotti84 Sorry to see your update, that must be really worrying.

I've not experienced it personally but I'll echo what google said. It could be absolutely nothing. Fingers crossed for you that it's nothing.

Highfalutinlootin · 05/01/2021 21:00

@Scotti84 Have not experienced bleeding but have had a lot of other weird symptoms that aren't exactly by the book, so I'm learning to relax and remember that statistically things are much more likely to go right than wrong. Call your doctor if you're really worried.
