Hi everyone,
just hoping to get as many people in one thread as possible. More scope for sharing knowledge, concerns or worries. Wishing everyone the best of luck on this journey.
When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

@afictionado, no I'm no longer breastfeeding. I had no cycle at all, so started cutting down in August, he was 14 months. He's happy to have cow's milk in a cup, and my cycles returned about 18 months, but not regularly.

WolfMother326 · 13/01/2021 15:45

Hi all,

I am late to this party! I think I'm 8+6, looking forward to find out more info as I'm having a dating scan in 10 days, on Sunday 24th. Between now and then I have my booking appointment, exciting! First time pregnant, 36yo. Took me about 8 months to conceive.

I've been pretty lucky with symptoms but my nausea has been off the charts the past few days. I haven't been sick yet. Just averse to most food, especially anything sweet or with my flavour. Plain rumpets, cereal with oat milk and fruit have been getting me through.

How's everyone feeling?

Smallbean27 · 13/01/2021 15:52

@wolfmother326 welcome! I am 8+5 and feel the last few days nausea has got worse! I presume its due to increased hormones around this time, plain jane ober here too!

Alittlexmasmagic · 13/01/2021 16:00

Interesting to see all the " get me through nausea" cravings, I've rediscovered Branston small chunk pickle. It's definitely hitting the spot where I was always a Heinz mayo girl. Also loving fruit teas and fruit that's a bit tart too. I can quite happily graze all day and then have no appetite or desire for an evening meal. I need breakfast now whereas I managed happily without.
Had a reassurance scan today. I've got one so far healthy little flea approx 8+3. Extremely relieved on many counts x

That's a cute photo @Alittlexmasmagic, may we continue with positive scans all the way Flowers

Thisisbananas3 · 13/01/2021 16:23

Hello to all the newcomers ☺️

@Firsttimemumm31 and @Alittlexmasmagic how lovely to see your scans ❤️

All this talk of food on the thread! I’ve been living off croissants, toast, fruit pastille ice lollies and salt and vinegar crisps! I just can’t wait to have a real meal. I’m surprised to see cheese mentioned, I ate a mouthful of cheddar before new year and had to spit it out! It tasted so weird!! 😂

I haven’t thrown up today for the first time in over 6 weeks! I feel almost normal... I don’t even feel tired? Boobs don’t hurt. Rather than make the most of it of course I’m panicking?? Why have my symptoms just disappeared? My scan feels so far away!

How’s everyone else feeling? Seems like everyone’s nausea has got worse?!

BertieBotts · 13/01/2021 16:24

Sour stuff defo helping me too :) yay lovely scan.

WolfMother326 · 13/01/2021 16:31

Thanks @Smallbean27 and @Thisisbananas3 for the welcome!

Croissants are a good idea... that actually doesn't sound terrible.

I've been eating a lot of fruit but now apples have started to taste like garlic Confused

Thisisbananas3 · 13/01/2021 16:45

@WolfMother326 honestly they’ve been so nice because they’re soft and sweet, but to begin with I was off them cos the butter tasted a bit funky. I’ve had them with jam or peanut butter to make them more filling too- but it’s interesting so many people like sour when I’m only into sweet!

What you had with apples I had with a grape! They tasted oniony. Ugh. They’re back to normal now but my mouth often tastes sweet, salty or metallic and I think my taste changes daily. 3 weeks ago I happily munched on a cucumber, I now think it’s one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten 😂

BertieBotts · 13/01/2021 17:02

Are you sure your oniony/garlicky fruit hasn't been contaminated by a knife or chopping board? :o Pregnancy taste changes are so weird.

PurplePansy05 · 13/01/2021 17:15

I said to DH that salt & vinegar crisps taste sweet to me the other day 😳 Think that's why I switched to ready salted.

I don't think I'll ever touch mayo/anything mayo based or chicken breast in my life ever again, and I used to love chicken caesar. These two are the worst offenders, but I can't stand anything fried or greasy or peanut butter - the latter was my favourite for years. I hope to be able to stomach it again one day.

Pet food smells disgusting too 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thanks all for some good ideas, bagels and croissants are going on our shopping list 👌

Thisisbananas3 · 13/01/2021 17:38

@BertieBotts I accused husband of contamination but they were fresh from the market- had just been washed... he said they tasted fine 😂

So has everyone gone off chicken? I can’t even think about it and it was the one meat I had been eating!

@PurplePansy05 I’ve been told to enjoy peanut butter pre baby because I’ll get put off it as soon as I start changing nappies 😭

WolfMother326 · 13/01/2021 17:45

@BertieBotts @Thisisbananas3 I had my DH taste the apple and he cofirmed that my taste buds have just gone crazy!

Butter seems to be ok for me but anything sweet... nope

MrsB2019x · 13/01/2021 17:56

@WolfMother326 I’m the same with anything sweet - completely gone off it all! I have been known to eat an entire share size bar of fruit & nut dairy milk in one sitting but the thought of that repulses me atm! Even sweet veg like carrots.. nope. 😐

@Thisisbananas3 I’m alright with chicken if it’s in the form of chicken nuggets, or chicken from KFC 😂🐷

WolfMother326 · 13/01/2021 18:23

@MrsB2019x I am exactly the same! Normally I have the biggest sweet tooth. Hope it doesn't sound disgusting the whole pregnancy, but maybe it's better that way...

Miniheart · 13/01/2021 18:27

@Firsttimemumm31 so exciting! Congratulations! Must be feel so amazing to have been able to see your baby at last!

@PurplePansy05 that meal sounds delicious, and this is also coming from a fresh food lover who is only wanting bread or crisps! I have a tilted cervix and I didn’t know that about the cramps...

@MrsB2019x I hope you are feeling better this evening and the cramps aren’t so bad, I’ve had the odd evening or two with dull period type pains which generally go after a few hours.

@WolfMother326 congratulations! We are in the same position, (age, first timers) I’m a few days behind you and also feeling daily nausea and just off all the proper fresh food I usually like. Also soooo tired!

@Alittlexmasmagic how wonderful, so pleased to read your little one is growing well in there!

@Thisisbananas3 I’ve gone off chicken! My DP made a chicken meal for us last night and I had to force it down. We were supposed to be having it tonight but I can’t face it. Think it’ll be beans on toast for me. Maybe some peanut butter too! So strange how our appetites are changing!

Thisisbananas3 · 13/01/2021 18:28

I’m in the minority, I’ve gone the other way, only eating sweet to the extent I was going to mention it to my midwife at my appointment tomorrow as I’m worried so much sugar is bad for me!

@MrsB2019x okay a chicken nugget sounds manageable but a kfc... oh no 🤢

olderthanyouthink · 13/01/2021 18:40

@afictionado I'm still BFing my 2 year old. I bet she'd just dry nurse in my supply disappeared this week I've been trying to cut her down to 2 hourly feeds (for those who don't know, this is newborn frequency!)

@ArchbishopOfBanterbury it was 22/23 months before my period came back about 6 months after we agreed to try for another Envy

LBunz · 13/01/2021 18:46

Hi. Late to party but I’m here. About 8weeks only just got my booking in appointment for 2 week time (have to go alone and in Leicestershire as I know people were wondering). I’m a FTM and absolutely terrified so the thought of going alone is horrible. I’m having a lot of anxiety about future appointments, having to attend the hospital alone apart from active birth etc.

Can anyone recommend any good books or websites as I’m so clueless about babies and pregnancy (I’m not young I just never really wanted children, that feeling wained as I got older and never changed to maybe and here we are). I need a lot of education.

Alittlexmasmagic · 13/01/2021 18:57

@olderthanyouthink every 2 hours!? Wow! I did 15 months before stopping and thought that was a good innings x

@MrsB2019x I was threatening DH with divorce the other day as he wouldn't go to McDs or KFC. We live 2 mins from one and in the 3 years I've lived here, I've never wanted to go. In the end I roasted some chicken thighs with a good sprinkle of salt to crisp up the skin and still have the craving for proper fried chicken.x

I've really gone off healthy food too, I used to scratch cook every night and now I just can't summon any enthusiasm. Even my favourite dinner failed to hit the spot 😢 x

MrsB2019x · 13/01/2021 19:02

@Alittlexmasmagic That’s fair grounds for divorce tbf 🤷🏻‍♀️ Congrats on your scan btw!

@Miniheart Yeah they have died off now thankfully, did have me worried for a while though!

@Thisisbananas3 I thought a KFC might be a bit much and it was at the beginning but like the trooper I am, I pushed through and it was glorious 🤤

notveryrelaxed · 13/01/2021 19:07

Hi all, been reading and lovely to see all the scans, and hear how it’s all going!

I had an early scan last week, all fine, strong heartbeat and measuring a bit ahead at 8w2 so I had relaxed a bit but had back pain yesterday woke in the night with bright red bleeding that has continued all day today. Only light but more than I’ve had before (this is my second and I had implantation bleeding about week 5 with him but nothing else) and one small clot (sorry TMI) so I’m panicking a bit. Called midwife who referred me to EPU but haven’t heard from them so going to the EPU walk in clinic at the hospital tomorrow.

Any advice welcome or handhold, I know it might be totally fine or it won’t but so hard when you can’t do anything at all xx

PurplePansy05 · 13/01/2021 19:11

Can I just make a BIG exception for McDonald's chicken selects, please, they are delish! In my book they aren't chicken right now 😂 Sweet chilli dip from McD's is also delish!

I made two cakes for Christmas, didn't touch them. DH had to eat them both. Now he's eating all the Christmas chocolates too. I'm happy with that, hope this continues 😂

@Thisisbananas3 OK, I'll never look at peanut butter the same again 😂 If you're worried about sugar, any chance of replacing it at times with frozen fruit/smoothie/yoghurt?

I'm funny with veg too, cooked is OK, but raw not so much. I read a theory somewhere that apparently our bodies are tuned into things that are beige and we go off things that are meaty or otherwise raw because it is to protect ourselves and the babies from unsafe food (ie improperly cooked, at risk of bacterial infection etc). Don't know how true this is but it fits in with what I'm going through right now. I know I only talk about food, but this is what my life revolves around right now, I promise I normally have other interests too 😂

notinthestarsigns · 13/01/2021 19:22

Pleased to see your scan went well @Alittlexmasmagic!

I’m with you all on the McDonald’s, I persuaded my DH to stop at the drive thru after my scan yesterday!

PurplePansy05 · 13/01/2021 19:30

@notinthestarsigns We did the same after our scan! Might continue with this after every scan, great excuse for some cheeky selects 😊
