Hi everyone,

When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

Thanks so much for the advise @SS123456 @PurplePansy05

I will speak to my midwife today, I've been discharged from the private clinic now but they said even though I've got a 12 week prescription I definitely need to finish them before10 week. It's so annoying when we all get advised differently. Xx

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 07:30

@SS123456 Good to know, I'll ask my RMC. I know it has an added benefit of decreasing the risk of pre-eclampsia in 2nd and 3rd trimester but pretty sure I read it needs to be stopped few weeks before delivery in case a c-section or an emergency one is required.

LyraShaeLilly · 12/01/2021 07:57

I also have PCOS and it's my first pregnancy. Hoping that my hormones are in sync as I conceived naturally within 3 months.

However I am concerned of MC risk, is it the low progesterone that causes the increased risk in PCOS? If thats the case why don't they routinely check your PG if you have PCOS and are TTC?

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 08:02

@LyraShaeLilly Low progesterone is generally linked with various issues, it can be linked to short luteal phase, implantation failure, early miscarriage. It's not strictly linked to PCOS, any woman can have issues with progesterone levels. Have you not had your hormone levels checked upon being diagnised with PCOS? I'd have thought if there was a progesterone concern, they'd have told you then. I have friends with PCOS who had babies with no progesterone supplementation at all, btw, so don't get yourself worried.

BananaHammock23 · 12/01/2021 08:14

@PurplePansy05 @K2a0t1i5e @SS123456 I'm on progesterone pessaries twice a day too. I think it's standard with an IVF pregnancy. I was told by our fertility consultant at our viability scan to take them up until 12 weeks then slowly come off them (take one a day every other day, then one a day, then one every other day etc). They said to not keep going past 16 weeks though.

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 08:21

@BananaHammock23 How are you feeling on them? Awkward question, but do you find they smell funny? I'm hypersensitive to smells now so I wouldn't be surprised if it was just me 😳😄 I had to swap to using them at the back end (sorry TMI!) as they've irritated my cervix when I was around 6.5 weeks and since then my digestive system has gone berserk.

afictionado · 12/01/2021 09:28

@PurplePansy05 I'm feeling okay, I guess what will be, will be. I'll be under specialist care later on but due to growth restriction in my last pregnancy rather than the miscarriages. Regarding the scan dating, I know roughly when I think I ovulated and I can just make the new date fit so I'm hoping for the best! Are you having any more scans before 12 weeks?

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 09:48

@afictionado That's a lot to deal with emotionally Flowers But yes, you're right, what will be, will be. I still get anxious but by now I've understood it's completely out of my control and I'm trying to manage my own feelings best I can, with varying results.
I don't have any more RMC scans on the NHS, no. I will have a private one next week before my Panorama blood test (which is what I always wanted to do for peace of mind), then 12 weeks on the NHS and then not sure, but I will be consultant-led, so I guess it depends on that too. Xx

LyraShaeLilly · 12/01/2021 09:59

Thank you PurplePansey05 that does make sense, need to stop panicking and worry less.

I was diagnosed 10 years ago at Uni and have been on contraception ever since. My diagnosis was done via symptoms and ultrasound no bloods. On TTC and implant removal I was told PCOS would only be a problem if periods didn't return, but if I had known would have also asked for PCOS bloods.

All the best everyone!!!

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 10:22

@LyraShaeLilly You can have more tests in the future when you're not pregnant, but considering you got pregnant so quickly, you clearly ovulate regularly and the pregnancy is progressing, I think you should take a deep breath now & not worry as it's likely everything is OK progesterone wise Flowers

BertieBotts · 12/01/2021 11:20

@afictionado

I can relate *@PurplePansy05*, last night I woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. When I finally started drifting off the toddler woke up for the day. 😓 And my digestion is also all over the place.

I hadn't heard of the Facebook group @BertieBotts, thanks for drawing my attention to it. Not sure they'll let me join though as I haven't been officially diagnosed -- most of my family on one side are carriers though and based on how long it took to conceive DS I suspect I'm one too. My grandma had five children despite all her miscarriages so I know my chances are still pretty good. I probably won't try for five, though!

You don't need a diagnosis, DH didn't have one when I joined it. Let me know if you want the link :)
Meggy24 · 12/01/2021 12:36

Hey, finally made it over here from the other page! Im currently 9+1 and only just got the registration forms for the doctors🙈 i really need to go and hand them back so i can get my booking appointment and scan sorted. Although im currently still lying in bed as exhaustion is killing me right now. Anyone else? So hard with my super active 3 year old bouncing around. Luckily ive got 2 weeks off work to attempt to chill out

BananaHammock23 · 12/01/2021 13:30

@PurplePansy05 haha I hate the smell of them and I hate using them. I used them in the back end to begin with but got sooo constipated I was really unwell, so now have to stick to vaginally which is ruining my sex life and my underwear!!

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 13:35

@BananaHammock23 I'm so glad I'm not alone! Although v sorry for you, I totally get it. I haven't had sex since my BFP 😳 I'm paranoid about bleeding and also Cyclogest as you say ruined it completely and it still does, my digestive symptoms are too bad to even think about sex! Maybe in the second trimester...🙄 Also I live in Primark pants, just can't justify ruining my nice ones! Pregnancy just isn't glamorous sometimes, is it.

Thisisbananas3 · 12/01/2021 14:27

@Meggy24 congratulations! I’m not sure how you’re coping with a toddler, think today has been my worst day exhaustion wise and I apparently slept for 10 hours! Had another cry about it because all I do is cry! Lol. Do get your scan arranged, it’s something to look forward to! :)

I haven’t even contemplated sex since getting pregnant, I genuinely think I’d throw up Envy then all this talk of mucus plugs etc the thought is quite... ugh if I’m honest! I just like to be left alone in a cold room with some gaviscon and some flat lemonade. Romantic lol.

Meggy24 · 12/01/2021 14:36

Has anyone had an early scan around 10 weeks?(ill be 9+6 going off LMP) Ive got one booked on sunday and super nervous, although partner doesnt live with me and so cant come which sucks as they only allow one person from the same household😩

notinthestarsigns · 12/01/2021 16:20

Hi All, I had my early scan at EPU today, sonographer said all was normal for this stage and we saw the heartbeat, not getting carried away but was as good as we could have hoped for. Also got my prescription of heparin injections and aspirin. I’m just exhausted now, I’d got myself so worried beforehand, we had a few bad scans in my last pregnancy so I was very anxious, even just going in the building again was nerve wracking! I don’t think I’ll ever properly relax until I take a baby home but I do need to try not to stress quite so much. Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

MrsB2019x · 12/01/2021 18:05

That’s lovely news @notinthestarsigns! Hopefully you can relax a little more now. Easier said than done I know

@PurplePansy05 @Thisisbananas3 Glad it’s not just us who’s sex life has taken a downward spiral 😫 we did it once a few days after my BFP but had some abdo pain afterwards so I haven’t attempted it again since. That and I’ve been feeling generally rubbish most days! Poor DH is getting so neglected ☹️

LouiseT34 · 12/01/2021 18:16

Hey all
1st time pregnancy here due beginning of August!
Will be nice to chat with a mixture of FTM’s and those already experienced Smile
Private scan booked for next weekend so my partner can come as not allowed to come to the ‘official’ appointments with me Sad

Champson · 12/01/2021 18:18

Quick one - why are people taking baby aspirin?

notinthestarsigns · 12/01/2021 18:21

Thank you @MrsB2019x xx

notinthestarsigns · 12/01/2021 18:23

Hi @Champson, I’ve got a prescription of 150mg of aspirin plus injections due to having sticky blood/antiphospholipid syndrome. X

ItsPrincesspeach · 12/01/2021 18:38

I’ve got to take aspirin this time round due to having hypertension in my last pregnancy, ended up in and out of hospital with it. So they said the aspirin should help to keep the blood flowing and help keep my blood pressure low. I was told I’ll be taking them all the way through pregnancy from 12 weeks.

buckingmad · 12/01/2021 18:45

Had my 12 week scan which measured me at 11+2 which is about what we were expecting due to my long cycles. Got another scan next Monday just to double check as baby was a little small but heartbeat/development etc all good.

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 18:46

Baby aspirin is also a usual course of treatment for women with recurrent miscarriage, particularly those suffering from APS/thrombophilia. I don't have either, but nevertheless it's been recommended because for some women blood thickens in pregnancy which may lead to increased risk of miscarriage, baby not receiving what it requires due to slower blood circulation, issues with placenta and pre-eclampsia later on. In some countries, eg US, baby aspirin (75mg daily) is standard in all pregnancies after 12 weeks.
