When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

Congratulations Purplepansy05 must be such a relief.

With booking a midwife appt I was told to do this via my GP , when I called I was told they do the first one at 9 weeks and booked it for end on Jan when I called before xmas!!

I know it's different in every area but could you try your GP?

Champson · 11/01/2021 17:34

Yay @PurplePansy05 so happy to hear this!! Exciting to see more scans coming in Grin

Thisisbananas3 · 11/01/2021 17:45

@Magik01 argh what a pain! As purple pansy says check the website and call the GP- I’m sure it’ll take a few weeks to get you booked in. I must admit, I’m probably naive, but I’m surprised how little contact there is in general but I don’t know why I expected more! Hope you manage to get through to someone!

@PurplePansy05 aw look at your little person, so pleased to hear all going well Star xx

Miniheart · 11/01/2021 18:44

Such great news @PurplePansy05, really happy for you 🌈

Jessicapebbles · 11/01/2021 18:52

I had no idea that some people had to self refer etc! I’m in Nottinghamshire and I have to admit it’s all been very straight forward. When I found out I was pregnant I booked my 8 week apppintment by contacting my doctors surgery and then I saw the midwife face to face and she booked my 12 week scan with the hospital whilst I was sat with her and organised my referral for my consultant. It’s so sad to hear some ladies aren’t having it as easy, it’s a stressful enough time as it is!

@PurplePansy05 that’s a lovely scan photo! How many weeks are you?
X

PurplePansy05 · 11/01/2021 19:00

Thank you @Jessicapebbles, I'm 9+2 today. 😊

Thank you all for your congratulations and well wishes, that's very kind of you ❤ I'm taking a step by step approach with this pregnancy, from one milestone to another. But I know all signs are very good now so maybe I'll allow myself to be hopeful from time to time xxx 🥰

biscuitcat · 11/01/2021 19:32

Such lovely news @PurplePansy05! I'm so glad for you

Had my booking appointment today and feel a bit like a pin cushion now - it took 6 goes in total to get my bloods! Luckily I'm alright with needles, it would have been dreadful otherwise!

MrsB2019x · 11/01/2021 20:30

Oh no @biscuitcat that sounds horrid 🤢 Bet it feels more real now you’ve had a booking appt? I’ve got mine on Friday and I’m (sadly 🤣) really looking forward to it even though it’s just formalities and lots of questions!

Miniheart · 11/01/2021 20:38

Definitely not sad at all @biscuitcat... I’ve got my booking appt on Sunday and I’m on a real countdown! Most of us have known we are pregnant since before Christmas so it’s been a long time coming!

Miniheart · 11/01/2021 20:39

Sorry that was meant to say definitely not sad @MrsB2019x

Alittlexmasmagic · 11/01/2021 21:07

@PurplePansy05 that's a lovely scan photo. I've been offered a reassurance scan on Wednesday when I'll be 8+1. I'm simultaneously so excited and bricking it.

@MrsB2019x definitely not sadly! I get a little thrill out of going for something like a blood test or flu jab 😂 I think it's just the novelty and something as close to "me" time as I'm gonna get. x

Glad you girls are on my wavelength 😂

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 05:59

Thank you @alittlexmasmagic @biscuitcat (love the username btw, makes me think of my cat) 😊

Well I have insomnia, luckily not every night. I've also been feeling sick for the last hour, just a bonus. I thought last week I've managed to start feeling better and I've incorporated frozen fruit in smoothies and veg in casseroles etc. to my otherwise bland and beige pregnancy diet but no, back to beige I go this week. I am so embarrassingly gassy too, burps, farts 😳, bloating, heartburn, all of it. I suspect this is an added side effect of my progesterone pessaries. No complaints though, I'd take this any time over and above what I've been through. It's just that it doesn't feel like me at all, my entire diet and digestive system is in a huge mess.

afictionado · 12/01/2021 06:27

I can relate @PurplePansy05, last night I woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. When I finally started drifting off the toddler woke up for the day. 😓 And my digestion is also all over the place.

I hadn't heard of the Facebook group @BertieBotts, thanks for drawing my attention to it. Not sure they'll let me join though as I haven't been officially diagnosed -- most of my family on one side are carriers though and based on how long it took to conceive DS I suspect I'm one too. My grandma had five children despite all her miscarriages so I know my chances are still pretty good. I probably won't try for five, though!

K2a0t1i5e · 12/01/2021 06:30

@PurplePansy05 I'm on progesterone to and I'm exactly the same with the wind, can't stop burping. Started with rennies as the sickness and burps we're snot a good combination. Can I ask when they have advised you to stop taking they have said between 8-10 weeks for me but I'm so worried about stopping them as they have definitely helped me get this far in my pregnancy? Xx

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 06:41

@K2a0t1i5e I am on them until my 12 week scan. I took them in my third pregnancy (had them prescribed privately), made no difference and I MC'd but I didn't feel as bad digestion-wise as this time. In this pregnancy I had them prescribed by my RMC. I'm also on baby aspirin this time, but there's no medical reason for it. How far along are you now and what's your prior history if you don't mind me asking? Xx

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 06:50

@aficionado I saw your earlier post, how are you feeling today? Did you track ovulation, maybe you ovulated later and that's why you're slightly off date-wise? Sometimes they can't measure properly either, yesterday the midwife said my baby was curled up and they couldn't measure accurately, she said at least 9+1 but that's the best she could do. I'm actually 9+2 so very similar, but at this stage it's easy for measurements not to be spot on and things are fine. Are you under specialist care after your MCs?

SS123456 · 12/01/2021 06:55

@PurplePansy05 @K2a0t1i5e I am also on progesterone pessaries until 12 weeks (400mg once a day) and 75mg of aspirin until delivery

K2a0t1i5e · 12/01/2021 06:56

@PurplePansy05 Really it's so difficult not to worry about stopping them when I've had different people say they stopped it at different stages. I'm only just 8 weeks and I've have 2 failed pregnancies where the pregnancy didn't develop early on so I couldn't get past 5/6 weeks. I have PCOS so they said I may not produce enough progesterone to support the pregnancy so the gave me a one a night since just after ovulation. This is through a private company too. I'm just worried about it failing once I stop when it's got me this far. How did you feel stopping them? Xx

K2a0t1i5e · 12/01/2021 07:01

@SS123456 @PurplePansy05 Did you guys have IVF by any chance? I just had medication and trigger shot so they are trying to say I'll already have some progesterone in my system whereas people on ivf May of have their hormones completely stopped therefore need them for longer?
I've got my midwife appointment today and I'm going to ask her for more advice and see if it's something she can check in my bloods to see what my progesterone levels are actually like. If they are high it would put my mind to rest a little more about stopping them. Anyone know if midwife can measure progesterone with bloods? Xxx

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 07:09

@K2a0t1i5e I haven't stopped them yet, I'm 9+3 today. I suspect I'll be nervous to stop at 12 weeks but then progesterone isn't as crucial in the 2nd trimester as it is in the 1st and frankly I'll be relieved not to have to stick it up there anymore 😳 and have all the fun with the symptoms later! Like I said, I'm a bit apprehensive about whether it actually works. I miscarried my 3rd pregnancy on it regardless so I think if it's doomed, it's doomed, with or without progesterone, unless you are specifically diagnosed with low progesterone. There are clinical trials suggesting that it helps after 3 consecutive losses but it's all a bit of a question mark. In your case I'd definitely request it till your scan, it's odd they haven't prescribed it this way for you. FWIW, I'm on 2x400mg daily.

@SS123456 Have you had your aspirin prescribed this way? They haven't specifically told me till delivery, I read till 34-36 wks max, but I'll need to ask about that later on.

PurplePansy05 · 12/01/2021 07:13

@K2a0t1i5e No, I've never had IVF, it's a natural pregnancy. It's not true re progesterone and IVF, it's prescribed the same way till 12 weeks with a history of natural recurrent miscarriage and for women with low progesterone. Mifwife does not check your progesterone levels and in any event I am not sure how reliable this would be now that you're pregnant, progesterone test is usually done by a GP during a cycle when you're not pregnant, following ovulation. By all means ask, but I personally would just get a cyclogest prescription till 12 week scan, it's standard and progesterone doesn't harm you or the baby regardless.

SS123456 · 12/01/2021 07:23

@K2a0t1i5e mine was a natural pregnancy too following a miscarriage 2 months before

@K2a0t1i5e yes the aspirin has been prescribed until delivery by a private fertility clinic

Hi everyone, I had progesterone in my previous 2 pregnancies (18 months ago and 12 years ago-yes that's the gap between ttc, it's been a difficult journey) I have/had pcos which seemed to sort itself out when I reached 36 (I'm now 39). With this pregnancy I decided to just go with the flow and keep calm and see how it went naturally and so I'm just taking folic acid and I've got further along than my previous 2 miscarriages, I am also of the mindset that if it's meant to be then it's meant to be. I wouldn't rule out taking the progesterone if it was recommended by my doctor though after my first scan (which will be Saturday) I conceived naturally and I'm currently 7+1. To say I am nervous is an understatement, I had my first unplanned pregnancy at 17 and that too ended in miscarriage, so I have been trying to fill that "gap" in my life for 22 years unsuccessfully. Had 18 months on Clomid and ivf (unsuccessful) twice. I had completely given up hope and so hoping that this is the one, especially because of all the heavy duty symptoms I'm having 😅. This group really helps me to calm my nerves and sending huge best wishes to everyone here ❤️
