Hi everyone,

When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

I’m feeling off tea and coffee amongst other things which is killing me! In my last pregnancy I allowed myself 2 cups of tea per day which really helped me get through but the thought just makes me feel sick this time. The smell of almost anything knocks me sick aswell! I have a scan at EPU on Tuesday, if all goes well then I will then be prescribed daily clexane injections and aspirin for the rest of the pregnancy.

Limegreentangerine · 10/01/2021 11:12

Hi guys
Jumping on this thread!
I’m a FTM and going for my 12 week scan on the 18th is it normal to be SO anxious about every twinge/ backache !? I am constantly checking for spotting or bleeding (thankfully I haven’t had any) but I’m just paranoid .. after 2.5 years TTC and fertility drugs this baby is VERY much wanted . DW just says just relax everything will be fine (she paid for a 10 week scan in which everything was fine ) ANYONE else in this boat !?

ame88 · 10/01/2021 11:13

Morning ladies! 7 weeks exactly today (I think!) still haven't heard a peep about booking in or 12 weeks scan yet but just going to try and be patient! I have an early private scan on the 19th so counting down the days to that!
I'm weirdly craving fruity things - smoothies and juices! Also don't want to eat any veg 😂

MrsB2019x · 10/01/2021 11:18

@WinterBabyof89 Omg Chipsticks are a great shout 😍🤤

Smallbean27 · 10/01/2021 11:26

@Limegreentangerine FTM too, i question every little symptom or lack of symptom. Always check for spotting, but i do try and think you cant really change what is going to happen so just have to try and stay positive xx

Limegreentangerine · 10/01/2021 11:28

@Smallbean27 thank you I’m trying :)

WinterBabyof89 · 10/01/2021 12:01

@MrsB2019x I ate them so fast my tongue was numb afterwards haha

Had a scan today at 8+1. Baby looking very alien like in the photo but heartbeat present! Measuring 8+3 with my EDD 19th August.
I only had the scan to perk me up as I’ve been so miserable lately - had a double cheeseburger to celebrate haha

Littlejayx · 10/01/2021 12:26

Hi all!

Can I join the massive bloated pregnant bus??? I’ve got my first scan Wednesday for my second baby and honestly hate the sight of all food 🤮

Champson · 10/01/2021 12:34

I’m 100% with you all on the beige food, having eaten very healthy pre pregnancy. It’s so reassuring to hear you all say the same!! My DH is trying to force feed me veg - bless him but it’s annoying too haha!! Just warming up some Mac n cheese right now for lunch Grin

BertieBotts · 10/01/2021 12:42

Orange juice is my thing. DH went off into the driks section of the supermarket yesterday - it's a whole big separate building here - and I asked him for two bottles of orange juice, he came back with 2 cartons and I had to go back for more because the cartons are only 1L and the bottles are 1.5 :o

And all salty crisps. Pom bears, prawn crackers, kettle chips ready salted!

BertieBotts · 10/01/2021 12:45

Also I have a fucking bump Hmm

Miniheart · 10/01/2021 13:00

@Smallbean27 ok good to know I’m not just being a piggy with the little and often snacks. Hope your booking appt goes well. I’ve got my booking appt 1 week today. Interestingly it was supposed to be a phone appt on Wednesday but they’ve had to cancel the clinic due to covid and it’s now a face to face appt on Sunday. @Alittlexmasmagic @BananaHammock23 were yours face to face and did you go alone or take someone? Also will I be told about how my pregnancy will be managed at this appt? Not heard about ‘consultant led’ before.

Miniheart · 10/01/2021 13:03

@WinterBabyof89 ahh yes CHIPSTICKS ARE ALL I WANT!! Mouth salivating hahaha

Miniheart · 10/01/2021 13:05

@Limegreentangerine yes I’m feeling the same about anxiousness around any twinge, ache etc. Plus always checking underwear, it’s frustrating as I want to be more chilled but it’s hard to be.

Alittlexmasmagic · 10/01/2021 13:28

@Miniheart mine was face to face. At a different location to previous pregnancy MW appointments but will also be the only one at this location, the rest will be more local. Whether or not a partner can go all depends on the rules in your local Trust. I'd be inclined to say he won't be allowed to attend just now. Chances are you won't be consultant led unless you have a number of factors that need considering. The MW will go through a whole list of questions about your medical & family history (some re. the fathers too). Honestly, don't stress too much over this. If you have any questions, write them down so you remember to ask but I imagine a lot will be covered. Have a good read through your green notes too (or app dependent on Trust, available after booking) and that will give a really good overview of what to expect.x

Thanks @Alittlexmasmagic your message is really helpful. Sorry for the silly question but what are green notes? And should I receive them at my booking appt?

Alittlexmasmagic · 10/01/2021 14:19

@Miniheart yes. They're a record of everything from booking in until birth. You get them at booking in and take them to every appointment and with you into labour. MWs and doctors will then see a full history of all applicable info.
I love reading through them, they're fascinating. I know some trusts have an app to access online notes instead though. Not sure what they're like x

I've just had 2 packs of salt n vinegar snack a jacks - would recommend!

BertieBotts · 10/01/2021 14:26

Mmm snack a jacks! You can't buy them here :(

My next appointment is 19th Jan. I should get to hear if my insurance company will fund the extra testing we've asked for.

Thisisbananas3 · 10/01/2021 14:35

Hi all- I’m sorry I haven’t caught up, I’m just coming for a rant because I’m sure my husband is sick of me.

Anyone else just so fed up of feeling shit all the time? I have now been nauseous 24/7 for 6 weeks. I’m sick numerous times daily and retching constantly. My mouth tastes like I eat coins. I’m exhausted, get light headed whenever I stand up, wake up about 10 times a night, showering takes it out to me and I have to sit on the loo afterwards to get my breath back. I’m constipated and taking laxatives everyday. My boobs ache and are SO itchy. I could go on and on and on. Will I ever feel normal again? I would love to just get up, tidy up, go for a walk and just feel human. I can’t remember what it’s like to feel normal and the thought of another however many weeks of this truly upsets me. I’m very grateful for the pregnancy but I had no idea it would be so hard.

Feel free to ignore me, I just wanted a moan. Hope you are all keeping well x

WinterBabyof89 · 10/01/2021 14:36

Yes to snack a jacks!! So salty and hit the mark.

@BertieBotts what testing have you requested?

I’ve got my booking appointment in two parts this week - Wednesday a telephone call to gather all the info, talk about previous pregnancies, and then Thursday I have to go into the GP for height/weight/urine tests.

Exciting now more of us are getting to these milestones!

biscuitcat · 10/01/2021 14:40

I'm also craving ALL the beige food 😂 so glad it's not just me! I'm still fine on fruit though luckily, so trying to eat plenty of that. I read somewhere that kiwis are very good in terms of giving you nutrients if you're struggling with veggies so I'm trying to have plenty of them!

I've got my booking appointment tomorrow, I hope it starts to feel a little bit more real then! Does anyone know what sort of medical history information I need to know about my husband? He's away at work and I forgot to find out before he left

WinterBabyof89 · 10/01/2021 14:42

@Thisisbananas3 vent away. I don’t think acknowledging how crappy you feel diminishes how grateful you are for the pregnancy. Two very different things!

Early pregnancy is not fun. It’s sort of like when you have a cold, can’t breathe though your nose and you sit in bed saying to yourself you will never take breathing for granted again haha
To make matters worse few people know, we suffer in silence, partners if we have them don’t understand the extent it all can affect us.
I said to my OH this week that I hate being pregnant this time round.. but it’s true!

We just have to hope that it will get better as for most women it does. Each day is one day down!

Smallbean27 · 10/01/2021 15:07

@ame88 salt and vinegar rice cakes are life! They sort me right out - recommend!

ItsPrincesspeach · 10/01/2021 15:30

@Thisisbananas3 I said exactly the same to DP this morning, I’ve had enough of constantly feeling like crap. I’ll take my anti-sickness meds to stop me being sick and then I just feel tired and don’t want to move. Never ending battle. Also the spots! I have never been so spotty in my life and it makes me want to cry! Saying that everything makes me want to cry right now!
I’m nearly 10 weeks so hoping it all dies down soon!
Also reading about all this beige food has really made me want some so off to the kitchen I go again 😅
