Hi everyone,
just hoping to get as many people in one thread as possible. More scope for sharing knowledge, concerns or worries. Wishing everyone the best of luck on this journey.
When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

Thank you all 🥰
I've got a hospital appointment tomorrow morning where they will re-scan, so I'm more relaxed now that's booked in. I hope I don't have to look at the screen - I don't want to see it again 😢

PurplePansy05 · 08/01/2021 13:44

@Lily3107 You won't get any regular extra scans on the NHS after 2 MCs unless it's an emergency, I'm afraid. This is offered after 3 consecutive losses, I'm speaking from experience as someone who had 3 MCs and is currently under a Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic. It's difficult. I'm now pregnant again and similar to you, 8+6 now. In the last week I largely felt better than before and it got me worrier too. My 6+2 scan was good, perfect measurements and strong heartbeat. I have another scan next week. I'd say with your history, arrange a private scan next week to calm yourself down a bit. Everything I read says that symptoms come and go, beside I have a number of friends who had very light or no symptoms in their successful pregnancies and in my own pregnancies, I had symptoms right up till the end. Two of them were MMCs so the baby died long before and my symptoms continued. So it really doesn't mean as much as you might think now, try not to stress out too much about it. Enjoy the good days when you can as days when you feel worse may return - I'm going through this today and it's no fun! Xx

PurplePansy05 · 08/01/2021 13:49

@appleaddiction You won't have any health implications of an MMC as such, it's like any other miscarriage medically and it will be managed the same way. It is obviously extremely cruel for it to come so unexpected, I was crushed after my first one. But please don't worry about it having a negative impact on you long term, it won't, it's just that your pregnancy hormones remained high for longer and your body hasn't recognised the loss. I'm very sorry for you and other ladies on this thread, miscarriage is an awful experience. Lots of support here on MN if you need it Flowers xx

Thank you for replying to me. One of mine was a MMC too, stopped at 5/6 weeks but found out at 10weeks. I think that's why I'm so worried and analysing every single little thing. My boobs have actually started hurting a little again today and lower back ache. I wish Nhs would offer more suppose for us who have had more than 1 MC/MMC. I'm happy to hear about your current pregnancy and all is going well, my scan at 6week+4 was measuring perfect and strong heartbeat so hopefully I'm ok as you are. When you're with a recurrent MC clinic do you have regular scans or do they just monitor your bloods etc and try find a reason why it has happened ?x

PurplePansy05 · 08/01/2021 17:30

@Lily3107 I had multiple tests, mostly blood tests. They can scan you if they suspect an anatomic abnormality for example. They will certainly scan you in pregnancy no4, I had NHS RMC scan at 6 weeks, now coming up at 9 and then 12. I know you're worried but every pregnancy is different and a fresh start, the story may not repeat itself Flowers xx

Champson · 08/01/2021 19:17

@appleaddiction I'm so sorry to hear your news. Sending lots of love xx

@Loti92 Thank you! It's less of a shock now, and we're still trying to wrap our heads around it (our house or car is NOT fit for purpose!!). Still loads can go wrong so trying to almost forget about it until we get to 12-14 week scan.

littleeggcup · 08/01/2021 19:47

Anyone stupidly taken a test 7-8wk pregnant? I did today for reassurance and it's done the total opposite due to it being faint

PurplePansy05 · 08/01/2021 20:36

Did you use FMU? If not, how long did you hold before testing? Did you drink a lot today? It shouldn't be faint, but there can be lots of reasons for it.

SS123456 · 08/01/2021 20:44

@littleeggcup it could be what's known as the hook effect (give it a google). Try testing again with watered down urine 🤞🏻😊

Thisisbananas3 · 08/01/2021 20:45

@appleaddiction I am so very sorry, sending love xxx Flowers

@littleeggcup google the hook effect, apparently this can happen after 5 weeks www.healthline.com/health/pregnancy/hook-effect#the-effect-explained
Hopefully that’s what it is but call the Drs if youre worried, as purplepansy says there could be lots of reasons for it! Hope all okay xxx

PurplePansy05 · 08/01/2021 20:46

That's another reason, it could be a multiple pregnancy for example. You need to give a bit more detail and retest as appropriate.

northernsquirrel · 08/01/2021 21:59

@appleaddiction I'm so sorry to read this. Take good care of yourself x

PeacockingAbout · 09/01/2021 03:52

So sorry to hear of the losses @appleaddiction and the earlier losses, so unfair. Take care of yourself and good luck xx

Thanks for the reassurances @Champson @Alittlexmasmagic @littleeggcup @Smallbean27, definitely made me feel better. I've not had anything since so I'm going to try and calm down

@littleeggcup how stressful for you! There is a massive increase in blood flow to the area in pregnancy so the spotting could be from this if there's a preexisting cause like erosion. I can't help with the tests but it sounds like there might be a reason? The EPU might be willing to scan you with spotting, especially given your history? Good luck xxx

There should definitely be more discussion and support for MC. Its such a taboo and shouldn't be Flowers

I was so hopeful I'd escaped insomnia this time round. I haven't. Been awake an hour, DS is sleeping through for once 😬 boooooooo.

haidri · 09/01/2021 21:08

@appleaddiction

Sorry to add to the bad news - I had a private scan yesterday evening. Should have been 10+1. There was no heartbeat and the baby measured at about 6 weeks. Big shock. I haven't had any bleeding or any miscarriage symptoms, and I am worried about the health implications of my body having not naturally dealt with this 😢

Good luck to all of you, I wish you all the best 🥰

I had the same issue with my previous pregnancy which was in fact my first! Take it slow, take your time... it's a long and tiring process for your body mentally and physically. Try and avoid the DC as I was going to do it but a kind doctor at A&E explained how nasty docs are atm with covid and all. He said there's nothing better than giving birth in the comfort of your own home
PurplePansy05 · 09/01/2021 22:53

I must disagree, I had MVA in June and it was seamless, what "nasty doctors"? They won't operate in a rough way on you because of the pandemic, that's nonsense, sorry.

Also disagree re medical management, it isn't always the best method of dealing with a miscarriage, it depends on personal circumstances. Mine was awful and I'd never do it again, and based on many comments across MN a lot of us also haven't gone through it smoothly at all. Knowing what I know now, I'd choose MVA over and above any other method, personally.

Alittlexmasmagic · 10/01/2021 08:27

Hi all,
had my booking in on Friday so feel officially pregnant now. I'm going to be consultant led for various reasons. The MW is also trying to get me an early reassurance scan through EPU which will be a help.
Trying to get a completed maternity exemption form is proving difficult though. I've been put on LevoThyroxine purely because I'm expecting. That said, I'm also struggling to get a repeat prescription for that and it's running out shortly. Not had any response from the Endocrine referral either.
In other news, I am eating my body weight in beige food. Constantly craving salty/savoury foods x

Firsttimemumm31 · 10/01/2021 09:01

@Alittlexmasmagic yes the booking appointment does make it feel real doesn't it! I have my 12 week scan on Wednesday this week and I'm super nervous but really excited! I had an early scan privately at 6 weeks. I'm under consultant care too not really sure at this point what it involves but I have my appt Feb 12th. Xx

BananaHammock23 · 10/01/2021 09:38

@Alittlexmasmagic I had my booking appointment on Friday too, also consultant led though not really sure what that means!

I'm on levothyroxine as well, I have been for years. You usually don't have to pay for it as it's a lifelong medication so you can get a medical exemption card.

I'm also eating my body weight in beige food! Trying to have a green smoothie for breakfast to get some goodness in and eating as many veggies as I can but all I want is biscuits 🙄

MrsB2019x · 10/01/2021 10:01

@Alittlexmasmagic I’m eating my body weight in beige too! I tried a sausage casserole last night to try and get veg in me and I squirmed all the way through it 😖

SweetpeaMcD · 10/01/2021 10:06

@bananahammock23 I’m exactly the same with food at the moment! I felt so guilty at first reading all the pregnancy guides about the importance of eating healthy. I’m normally super healthy and really enjoy veg but have totally gone off it. I made myself miserable for the first few weeks eating veg that I didn’t want and throwing all of it back up. Im just embracing whatever will stay down at the moment - potatoes, biscuits and cereal mainly! And slipping small amounts of fruit and veg in when I can - I’m sure it’ll get better in the next few weeks.

Anyone else completely turned off meat at the moment? The way my stomach turned at the thought of eating chicken was what made me realise I was pregnant 😂

Miniheart · 10/01/2021 10:17

Resonating with all of you about the craving of savoury beige food. I seem to really want salt and vinegar flavoured stuff. I also normally love veg with every evening meal, it’s so weird not wanting it. I daren’t stand on the weighing scales. Is anyone else finding they need something small to eat every few hours? Rather than having longer gaps and h bigger meals? Not enjoying the daily nausea, probably at its worse when I first wake up then comes in waves all day 🥴

Alittlexmasmagic · 10/01/2021 10:33

@BananaHammock23 I was consultant led with my last pregnancy. All it means is that you have an extra pair of eyes looking over your notes. They might make suggestions for extra monitoring, meds, checks etc. during pregnancy or advise early induction, c-section etc for birth. All dependent upon the circumstances of course.
That's interesting about the Levo. I paid for the last one and will for the next at this rate. It stated "not exempt" on the label, maybe because it's only during pregnancy?x

Smallbean27 · 10/01/2021 10:35

@Miniheart definitely having more snacks inbetween! Helps with my nausea if i eat things, luckily i havent gone off much food. Also booking appt on Thursday xx

WinterBabyof89 · 10/01/2021 10:47

The nausea is relentless. I’ve previously been a lucky one and not had it in my first three pregnancies so I was pushing my luck.

Another one eating beige things! Last night my OH went on a snack run and bought me a huge bag of chipsticks. I’ve never loved him more.

Hopefully in a few more weeks we’ll all be glowing ha
