Hi everyone,
just hoping to get as many people in one thread as possible. More scope for sharing knowledge, concerns or worries. Wishing everyone the best of luck on this journey.
When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

@Thisisbananas3 I had the same worry about scans, I really hope it doesn't change again as partners can come to both scans and appointments in my trust. I think I'm right in saying that there's been a lot of guidance out emphasising the importance of partners being involved since the first lockdown so I'd really hope that it stays that they can come, it would be so disappointing and upsetting otherwise.

nano2021 · 04/01/2021 18:58

Thank you @northernsquirrel! I was able to squeeze in an appt this morning and things are looking good!

Now I feel a little more confident my body is used to the hormones and not a sign of miscarriage.

Best of luck for your upcoming scan!

northernsquirrel · 04/01/2021 19:31

Are there any other nurses/medics/ healthcare workers on here? Just wondered what your employer has said and how you feel about the covid vaccine?

Firsttimemumm31 · 04/01/2021 19:57

@northernsquirrel I'm a nurse...at the moment it just don't have enough confidence in the vaccine whilst pregnant but that's just a personal view I haven't been advised by the midwife or anyone to have it x

Thisisbananas3 · 04/01/2021 20:07

@haidri fingers crossed all goes well for you!

@biscuitcat yes you’re right, especially for support in birth. I’ll go on the pregnant then screwed Instagram account to see if they say anything after the announcement. I must admit my first thought was am I going to have to go through birth alone... I hope we’re in a better place in August but my head panicked!

What a weird thing to be living through!

northernsquirrel · 04/01/2021 20:08

Thanks @Firsttimemumm31 I feel better knowing someone is thinking the same way. Wasn't sure if I was being over cautious x

Firsttimemumm31 · 04/01/2021 20:16

@northernsquirrel it's a difficult time to be pregnant lots going on... and now I'm concerned about any changes to antenatal care now we are back in lockdown from Wednesday! It's never ending!

Miniheart · 04/01/2021 20:21

I share all your worries. I’m holding out hope that by August at least things might be better but I am now worried about the impact of this on antenatal care, I wonder if trusts will revert to us having to attend scans alone.

northernsquirrel · 04/01/2021 20:24

We'll have to wait and see ladies. Hope everyone can keep safe and well x

MrsB2019x · 04/01/2021 20:43

Def worried about antenatal care, hoping partners can still attend 12 week scans! 😭

BananaHammock23 · 04/01/2021 20:55

Oh god it's all so bleak isn't it! I had my 12 week scan appointment through this afternoon before the announcement and it said no partners for the scan. We're Kent and Medway Trust. Luckily I've got a private scan booked tomorrow (included in our IVF package) that my partner is allowed to attend.

Thisisbananas3 · 04/01/2021 21:25

I don’t know about you all but I really thought we were getting through the worst of this and that by June this year we’d be out of lockdowns etc and returning to a type of normality. Now we have the various strains. How naive was I!

Fingers crossed NHS trusts will have learnt from the first lockdown and we can all get support at scans etc.

Take care all

@BananaHammock23 sorry to hear your partner couldn’t be with you today. Hope tomorrow’s goes well x

Ohforthesummer · 04/01/2021 21:32

@northernsquirrel I’m a healthcare student. the current advice is not to have it if you’re pregnant. I doubt it’s dangerous - they’ve just no data yet so have to advise against. I’d be keen to have it as soon as the advice changes, but will avoid for now. Haven’t told employer I’m pregnant yet....

WatermelonKisses · 04/01/2021 22:27

Hi all, hope you're all ok. I'm in Scotland and my scan and booking in letter said "if possible attend on your own". Not sure what that means. Feels very vague. I'll go to booking in on my own I think and ask about the scan appointment then. They've also changed it to a more central large hospital than a local maternity unit which is a nightmare for me to get to (I don't drive) so I'll be needing a lift from my husband. So hope he doesn't have to wait in the car while I get my scan!

Lililou · 05/01/2021 08:58

Wish me luck, started bleeding last night, mostly dark but some red. Not too heavy and no cramping.

Firsttimemumm31 · 05/01/2021 09:16

@Lililou sending loads of luck your way xx

WatermelonKisses · 05/01/2021 09:31

Thinking of you @Lililou xxx

Alittlexmasmagic · 05/01/2021 11:59

@Lililou thinking of you. I had bleeding in my last pregnancy which turned out to be nothing serious. I'm hoping so much it's the same for you x

Hope it's nothing serious @Lililou. Sending best wishes! X

NotMeekNotObedient · 05/01/2021 12:11

Finally got my booking appointment letter today. Written on the 18th Dec, the appointment is for next week so I'll be 9 weeks.

I think birth partners will definitely still be able to attend the birth. It's the scans that I fear will be restricted again. I really hope they don't as I can't imagine getting bad news and being alone. If they say they are not allowing partners to scans I will book a private one early I think so DH can be there.

TedLife · 05/01/2021 14:41

Hey everyone, i'm tentatively joining. My due date is currently July 27th but my DS1 was 15 days overdue so I am firmly putting this one in the August crew! I'm 11 weeks now, got my 12 week scan next Wednesday but have had one private scan at 8 weeks already which went well. Terribly nervous!
My son is 18 months, previous to him i had a MMC so I know both sides. Have requested to join the FB group as my FB group from my son was and still is one of my favourite groups of people. Looking forward to getting to know you guys too Smile
