Hi everyone,
just hoping to get as many people in one thread as possible. More scope for sharing knowledge, concerns or worries. Wishing everyone the best of luck on this journey.
When I've a minute I will try and tag everyone across the three threads.

Hey everyone. I found out I was pregnant last week. From using last day of period I'm due 31st Aug so could also be a September baby.
I have a 2 year old son and am over the moon that we have conceived again.
One huge worry though is that I tested positive last week as well. I know that guidance and research shows that there isn't enough evidence to suggest that covid has an effect but just worried because I am so early in pregnancy

Gamechanger2019 · 29/12/2020 07:11

Hey ladies, I’m due 26th Aug if I’ve got my dates right. Generally feeling ok - a bit more tired than usual, bloating, adhoc breast soreness and some twinges in abdomen, but nothing I can’t handle but issue is these come and go. Nobody prepares you for the post test anxiety, I’m almost wishing morning sickness on myself because then I’d at least feel pregnant. Anyone else similar, or is it just me being a mentalist?

BertieBotts · 29/12/2020 08:20

Hahaha don't wish for morning sickness, believe me!!

It's probably a bit too early yet. Mine is always worst after 6 weeks. The first trimester is just a waiting game I'm afraid and no symptoms are constant.

Rae I think someone else on the thread tested positive for COVID early on, she was having a bit of a hard time at the moment so has taken a break (unrelated) but might be back on the thread in the next couple of days.

Gamechanger2019 · 29/12/2020 08:42

@BertieBotts haha fair enough - if I develop it I’ll be eating my words. 🤞🏼 I shall stop being a mentalist for now 🤣🤣🤣

@Rae2017 my friend developed COVID in her second trimester and things have been fine. I think there is research that confirms it doesn’t pass to the baby. I hope you feel better soon xxx

Hi all, I was meant to have my booking appointment with the midwife last Tuesday, but it for postponed until today (I’m 8 weeks today). A different midwife rang and said it shouldn’t have been booked as they’re really busy, but can fit me in next Tuesday at the same time. I’m a little deflated as was quite wanting to speak to my midwife in detail about previous illnesses I’ve had which affect pregnancy, my Hyperemesis etc. I was sat on the bathroom floor when she called being sick! So I just blurted out all my concerns in one breath and got a bit teary. She was brilliant, answered all my questions and gave me some great advice to keep me going until next week’s appointment. Really settled me. She told me my pregnancy would need to be consultant led? I’m guessing that’s what it says on the tin? Is anyone else experiencing or experienced HG? What helped? Are you consultant led and why? I’m sipping ginger based drinks and water all day, nibbling biscuits and toast and fruit when I can stomach it. I’ve recently lost 7 stone (I think this helped me conceive!) and am now starting to lose more because of the sickness. I’ve lost 1kg per week so far. Should I be worried? First timer over here worrying about anything and everything, any advice welcome. Due 10/8/21.

WatermelonKisses · 29/12/2020 11:08

@Gamechanger2019 I basically said this a couple of weeks ago as had no symptoms and last time was so nauseous. It is unsettling as you feel totally normal. Try not to worry! At 6 weeks to the day my nausea has now started and it's horrendous. No vomiting, just all day nausea. I've ordered sea bands and ginger sweets and I've been sucking on polo mints but nothing is really working. I think it's even worse than my first pregnancy. So there's still time for you to develop it yet!

Alittlexmasmagic · 29/12/2020 11:11

It might not be the HG that means you're consultant led but your other illnesses. On booking in they'll go through a full list of medical history and assess whether you'll be higher risk or not. It just means a consultant will be keeping an eye on your progress and make any necessary recommendations or referrals for your or baby's safety.x

Champson · 29/12/2020 12:08

@WatermelonKisses - I’m the same. I felt almost nothing until six weeks to the day and nausea floored me. Luckily haven’t been actually vomiting, just almost about to all day. I’m now 6+2, still feeling crap all day long. I’ve got the sea bands and been eating small frequent meals of mostly ricecakes, cheese and crackers! It helps if I don’t let myself get hungry. So @Gamechanger2019 enjoy not having these symptoms as they suck!!

WatermelonKisses · 29/12/2020 16:52

@Champson I'm 6+3 today so we have a similar due date! My sea bands should arrive tomorrow so hopefully they will take the edge off. Yeah, I only seem to be ok when I am eating plain or salty foods too. Cheese and crackers sounds so good right now, think I'll have that tomorrow! I ate all the time in my last pregnancy and ended up gaining about 5 stone, I really wanted to be healthier this time because I still haven't lost all the weight but now I remember why I constantly ate!

ThinnerByDinner · 29/12/2020 18:05

Hi Ladies, I got my BFP on 19th December will be 6 weeks on Thursday due 26th August. I have had some brown spotting/discharge today which has totally unnerved me. I had a miscarriage when trying for my first child, I then went on to have my daughter 6 months after the miscarriage. She is now 3. We’ve been trying for number 2 for nearly a year (have just been referred to fertility clinic when I got my positive). Hoping for a positive outcome. I rang my dr but they weren’t interested, just said brown spotting/discharge can be common and basically just see what happens. Will hopefully book an early scan next week when I’m around 7 weeks. On tenterhooks now!

FreakingOutMum · 29/12/2020 18:57

Just posted in another thread before realising this is the main one! Copying and pasting what I said!

Hi all!

Can I join in with you guys? I am due around the 12th and its come as a bit of a surprise. I thought I was done with kids - have 2 daughters 8 and 14 and can't believe I am potentially going through it all again! Also totally freaking out as I come under the 'older mum' category and I am type 2 diabetic so so many things could go wrong. Haven't told anyone yet except for my husband as I am just so nervous

Miniheart · 29/12/2020 19:23

@ThinnerByDinner I’m also 6 weeks on Thursday due 26th August. I am new to all of this but from what I understand some spotting / coloured discharge is supposed to be quite normal. Hopefully an early scan will bring some reassurance for you. I’m feeling like this period of time whilst we wait for the 12 week scan is so long and keeping it private is hard! Heard from the hospital today with dates for booking in, bloods and first scan. It’s suddenly feeling real!

FeelingBlessedx · 29/12/2020 19:29

Thank you @alittlexmasmagic I will ask hairdresser
On the plus side (ihope)
My sickness is easing lots now I'm hoping this is nothing to worry about as I'm enjoying feeling human again but feels quite sudden i expected it to be weeks of easing off:/

I have my scan tomo I believe I'm 8 weeks so hopefully this will put my mind at ease
Has anyone had an 8 week scan can you see much

Allsorts24 · 29/12/2020 21:29

Got a very unexpected BFP today. I'm not sure of dates at all but think I'm 5 weeks or more. This will be baby 3, we have two girls 5 and 20mths.

Is there a Facebook group going for August yet?

PeacockingAbout · 30/12/2020 09:22

Hiya, mind if I join? Got a BFP a week ago, I'm 5+3 due on 30th Aug

I already have a DS who's just turned one, and this is already different - I've already been sick more often than in 41 weeks with him Envy

I'm toying with an early scan this time, we didn't with DS but for some reason both DH and I are a bit more nervous this time round.

BertieBotts · 30/12/2020 10:39

Yep I keep having days like that. Doesn't help that there's nothing to do so every day is groundhog day.

Ugh the first trimester is so grotty!

Firsttimemumm31 · 30/12/2020 10:54

Hope you don't mind me posting this on here just hoping to hear other people's experiences... so I started a new job in October 2020 and I'm now 9+3 when did people tell their employers about their pregnancies or when do you plan on telling them? I have a really nice employer and I'm hoping that they will understand especially as I'm only asking for 8 weeks maternity leave!

Alittlexmasmagic · 30/12/2020 11:18

@Firsttimemumm31 8 weeks is not a long time, although I'm sure you have excellent reasons for it. Just keep in mind you might need longer to heal, depending on the birth etc. x

OP posts:
Firsttimemumm31 · 30/12/2020 11:26

@Alittlexmasmagic yes I know 8 weeks isn't very long sadly it's due to circumstances but I'm lucky that I only work part time anyway so I will be able to do some working from home too when I go back

Jessicapebbles · 30/12/2020 11:47

Just had my booking appointment with the midwife 😍. 12 week scan in 3 weeks time!

Firsttimemumm31 · 30/12/2020 11:50

@Jessicapebbles Congratulations 🎉 did they tell you your scan date whilst you were there? I'm still waiting for mine.
Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy 🥰

@FeelingBlessedx I am the same. I've felt much better than I did over the last week or so - I'm 9+2 now. Hope your scan has gone/goes well today. X
