Just that really! I have just got a bfp and feeling excited but also nervous. I have two DS aged 6 and 3. Always wanted three but the timing (covid) and the reality are a bit Shock

Would love to hear from others!

I’m 20 weeks. Have two boys, 5 and 2. We’re having a girl this time, my 5yo is so excited to be getting a sister.
Baby is due 11 days before my youngests 3rd birthday, I’m hoping she comes on time and isn’t late haha!

StaceImpactWfan · 15/12/2020 12:05

@Mishmased I'm due January. Can't come quick enough now lol I'm 35+3 weeks.

JChina · 15/12/2020 12:13

@Mishmased that is the biggest issue logistics wise- the car seats! I really want the maxi cosi coral for the baby as I really struggle with the big heavy infant car seats - but won't fit in current car apart from in the front seat!

Currently almost 18 weeks with a boy. I have a 4 years old DS and 2 years old DD. Not sure how to tell work as I am hesitant this time.

Mingasauros · 15/12/2020 12:18

I'm 30 weeks today with #3 - have 2 girls, 5 and 2.5 so will be the same age gap between all 3. Haven't found out the sex, but have just bitten the bullet and upgraded the car 😬

JChina · 15/12/2020 12:38

@RedpencilBluepen I don't feel very inclined to tell work, although I'm only 4-5 weeks, but especially because I'm working from home so it doesn't feel like they need to know as such!

How have people taken the news of you having a third? I feel like a first and second is expected but third is not! I'm lucky in that both of my sisters have three so my family won't be but I feel like DH's will think we have gone mad!

@StaceImpactWfan Jan is lovely time to have a baby, mine will be 8. January birthdays are something to look forward to in the post Christmas gloom 😁

@JChina how old are yours? Mine will be 8 and 5. I'm having to buy three new car seats. Slimmest possible, two BeSafe Izi high back boosters and a Joie infant seat will fit I the back all belted. I'm not happy with the Joie partly as I'm used to AxKid and Britax but they are too big. Would you consider the Multimac? A bit costly but still cheaper than a brand new car. Only downside is baby will be forward facing from 15 months which I'm not happy with.

@RedpencilBluepen if you're not showing yet and your job doesn't involve harzardous working you don't technically have to tell them until around 24 weeks. I had to tell mine at12 weeks as I could potentially be entering areas that work with mutagens and teratogens. My dept head is def not pleased but we have robust work policies so nothing she can do. Don't worry about work!

JChina · 16/12/2020 10:50

@Mishmased I have two DS who will be 4 and nearly 7 when this one arrives. I have considered the multimac - I think we are initially going to just cope with the car we have and see what we want to do. We bought the car in brand new in 2017 outright so the plan was to keep it until it fell apart, but the multimac might be a good option. I must admit it never occurred to me how few cars can fit three car seats across the back! Currently have two britax seats (one for my 3 year old that I only bough a few months ago, d'oh) that take up way too much room.

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 11:03

@JChina Britax seats are massive we have 3 Britax, 1 Joie and an AxKid minikid (gave away) so 4 seats between my astra (2018) and Subaru Impreza (2010). My Impreza is just inches wider than the astra so I'm reluctant to let it go as I cannot afford a suitable replacement yet 😭

Depending on where you live, see if there's an In car safety centre near you or any reputable car seat dealers and they will try and seat what slim seats can fit. Or someone sits in the front 😁

TisTheSeasonToEatLots · 16/12/2020 12:46

I think we were very lucky to know that 3 children was on the cards when we got our car from new 2 years ago. We knew we’d keep it for 3 years and if we were going for a 3rd it needed to be inside that window (we are 37). We got a lot of raised eyebrows when we explained why we’d picked the model we did! We even took the old maxi cosi seat and our 2 existing car seats with us when we went to look at cars to try them. I think the car dealerships must have thought we were mad picking a car for our imaginary 3rd child 😆, but I didn’t care. We ruled out one car that we v nearly bought as the seats although they would fit they were touching which apparently isn’t safe? We have the new 5008, it’s a 7 seater with 3 individual seats with isofix points in the middle, great car if you don’t want to buy a bus - people carrier (as my husband point blank refused!).

I’m not sure about squeezing 3 car seats into a normal car? I think you’d have to put one in the front which isn’t ideal.

JChina · 16/12/2020 14:52

@TisTheSeasonToEatLots Yes I think it would only be a temporary measure to put the baby in the front seat (airbag off) rear facing whilst we figure out what to do longer term.
I'm still feeling quite anxious about the changes to the family dynamic...hoping I will calm down a bit! It is a very much planned pregnancy but feeling worried regardless. My boys are very close friends (2.7 years between them) and play together a lot and are just at a really lovely age, and I find myself suddenly very scared of rocking the boat Confused. Trying to just take it all one day at a time, as still very early days of pregnancy and hormones won't be helping!

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 17:46

@JChina mine are similar ages to your 2yrs 6 months and very close. They'll both love the baby and the youngest will want to play big brother 😂

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 17:55

@TisTheSeasonToEatLots the kids are 4 and over so can go into slim high back boosters. We have massive Britax seats that take up so much space so we took both cars to the car seat dealers and just tried a range of the seats. They are definitely not touching each other. If the kids were under 4 then that would be different as they both rearfaced until 4. They are 5 and 7 so we are happy to forward face using seatbelt for now until we can decide what we like.

WalkingMeAway · 16/12/2020 18:14

I’m 10w pregnant with my third. My other DC will be 12 and 4 when this one is born. We were always unsure about a third and let nature take it’s course.

We already have a 7 seater and will only need the two car seats.

We do have a spare room but we currently use that as another TV room so are debating moving 😬

We’ve only told parents so far and both have been very happy, if not a little shocked !

mintich · 16/12/2020 18:15

I have a 3 year old and a 2 year old and am very close to giving birth to my 3rd

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 18:22

@WalkingMeAway this is why we decided to have the third now instead of waiting. You have lovely ages tho! How's your eldest taking it? My eldest said 'now DC2 will know what it is like to have a younger sibling' 🤣🤣
Best of luck @mintich hope it all goes well.x

WalkingMeAway · 16/12/2020 18:31

@Mishmased she was bemused ! I think she’s secretly happy although she’s desperate for a sister. My youngest (boy) is not thrilled AT ALL 🤣

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 18:38

@WalkingMeAway has she had biology lessons 🤣🤣
I haven't told my 5 year old yet else he will keep asking everyday. He asked why I didn't get a baby last Christmas like my neighbor that had a baby in September 🤣
He wants 7 more siblings 🤣🤣

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 16/12/2020 18:41

I really want a third. You're all making me super broody!!

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 18:44

I'll just read through your posts in the meantime 😢

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 19:37

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken ❤️❤️

WalkingMeAway · 16/12/2020 20:01

@Mishmased she has 😬🤦🏻‍♀️
7! Wow, are you up for that?! 🤣

Mishmased · 16/12/2020 20:06

@WalkingMeAway I worded that badly. My son asked why my neighbor had a baby in Sept and I told him excuse she requested one at Christmas. He then asked why didn't I request 7 more so he could have eight siblings 🤣🤣
My neighbor doesn't have7 kids 😂😂😂

BertieBotts · 16/12/2020 21:45

I saw this thread the other day but then chickened out so I didn't post.

I am 5+4 but have miscarried at 5+6 before so getting a bit nervous (but touch wood, no spotting so far :))

If all goes well this will be DC3 which is a bit scary! I feel like watching old reruns of Outnumbered :o

DS1 is 12 and DS2 is 2. New baby is due when they will be 3 and nearly 13! If 2021 didn't sound crazy enough Hmm
