Experiences with pregnancy after IUGR

Hi everyone,

I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with my second baby. With my first DD I measured small towards the end of pregnancy and ended up being induced at 37 weeks exactly due to IUGR.

At the moment my bump is measuring average but it was with DD at this stage too, so whilst this is good news I’m not taking it that baby will be average sized.

I wondered if anyone had any experiences they could share if you’ve had IUGR or a small baby then had another pregnancy?
I’ve not had the normal level of growth scans due to covid and my midwife hasn’t offered much advice/help!

Thank you Flowers

My son was IGUR wasn't diagnosed until birth . Weighed 5lb5 . This pregnancy has growth scans throughout and put on aspirin . Growth scan at 33 weeks weeks showed weighed gain had slowed. She's dropped from 50 centile to under the 10th . Got another growth scan on Monday (35weeks) to see if any weight gain and prediction of how much. If still slow and they not satisfied it's beneficial to carry on any further they're going to make a plan to deliver early.

@CTMR that's good! If he follows his current line they may be happier with that than if he drops! I'm due 11th September, but have a feeling I'll be a 37 week delivery also, especially as previous 2 I was induced at 37 weeks.

I had my first boy in 2017 and due to blood pressure and some personal stress at the time, he was induced at 37+3 and weighed 4lb 7. He was very tiny but perfect and they still classed him as "term". Tiny baby clothes were soo small. They described the blood flow to the placenta as like "a flock of sheep trying to get through a hedge bit enough for only 1 sheep" and that made lots of sense! My second baby 10.5 months later was also IUGR but a more normal 6lb 11. And to this day my blood pressure never returned to normal, but the boys are perfect and healthy in every way. You'll be fine, good luck!

@EllieJai44 well, I hope all goes well for you!

@bluebellinthewood I’m glad to hear that they are well now! 4lb 7 sounds so dinky but 6lb is a nice size.

@L96F i hope your scan goes well on Monday, I’m guessing that I will find out my estimated baby weight on Wednesday then with this being my next growth scan, bit apprehensive for that one.

Bit of an update on my journey, went for a growth scan Wednesday of this week and he’s now jumped back up and is falling along the 20th centile, got another growth scan at 39 weeks but looking like he will be a lovely 7lb 6 on my due date ☺️

@CTMR that's great!
We had another scan Tuesday and baby stayed in line to the last percentile so we are booked for section in 19 days at 37+1 weeks! I'm glad I have an end date in sight, don't have anymore scans though!

@EllieJai44 i hope your C-section goes well and congratulations in advance for the birth of your little one!
