Anyone else feeling like they don’t know if they want to vomit, eat or cry? I don’t remember the first pregnancy being this much of an emotional rollercoaster so early!

Amber9083 · 28/12/2020 20:22

Hi all I’m 12 weeks pregnant with baby #2 due early July 2021. DD will be almost 4. I’ve had an early private scan at 8 weeks and have my NHS scan this Wednesday Smile x

Mommabear20 · 29/12/2020 10:08

@Pinkchicken85 YES!!! Oh my god, I'm so glad it's not just me!

Is there a Facebook group for July 2021 babies: 2nd babies? With my first I found a thread on here then there was a fb group for those who wanted to join which went strong til our kids were 2, still going but quieter now

Blughbablugh · 29/12/2020 11:28

@Amber9803 there is a July facebook group but not sure if anyone on it is still in the July thread anymore.

Amber9083 · 29/12/2020 20:19

@Mommabear20 hi is there a Facebook group also I can join please? Smile

Mommabear20 · 30/12/2020 07:43

@Amber9083 I have no idea about any Facebook groups as I don't use it.

Same!

Although I think I might need to to get on marketplace, especially now we are in tier four!

I ate dinner last night for the first time in days and promptly threw it back up. Ugh.

SleepySloth86 · 31/12/2020 00:10

Hey everyone. I’m first trimester with my second, my first DD is 8 (big age gap!). Not sure on due date yet... came off the pill end of September and periods never returned. Had symptoms since stopping the pill - which I hear is quite common? Tested Negative on Halloween testing PM. Had a three day dark bleed mid November and tested Positive 15th December Clearblue 3+. So no idea!

I’ve got a phone consultation mid Jan and a Scan booked for Mid Feb. Don’t remember waiting so long the first time round.

So far feeling exhausted, super sore boobs, nausea, bloating and constipation. Feeling super sexy haha.

Congrats everyone! Smile

AbbeyBelfast · 31/12/2020 11:26
@AbbeyBelfast, I don't think any of us even have a scan date, lol. I'm talking to my midwife for the first time on Nye, will be ten weeks then and it all does feel a bit late.

How's everyone else's kids doing in this weather? Ds is driving me up the wall, roll on going back to nursery for a few days!
Hey! Have you spoken to the midwife yet? Let us know how it goes xx

Mommabear20 · 31/12/2020 12:39

Is anyone else getting very breathless very easily? I remember this from last time but I don't remember it being this bad! I carried DD upstairs for a nap and I'm dying 😂

Bellaphant · 31/12/2020 14:27

@Mommabear20, yes! Finding masks suddenly difficult, glad I WFH

@AbbeyBelfast, yes, spoke to her this morning. 45 mins but we did have a bit of chat as well because she was my midwife last time too. Info sent off for scans, a referral to obstetrics (as last birth was emcs) and going to go in next week for height/weight/bloods whatever. Need to book my flu Jab! Feels like massive progress :)

popcorndiva · 31/12/2020 16:11

I am struggling with masks only can wear the surgical ones now for as little as time as possible so have to be organised when I go to the supermarket

Mommabear20 · 03/01/2021 08:43

Hey! How's everyone doing now we're out of the dreaded 2020? 😂

Random question, when y'all were weaning your little ones, did you feel completely lost? I've read the books and talked to SIL as my niece is just over 1 and a great eater, but I'm just so confused by it all! I think a lot of it is to do with pregnancy brain too but, what do I give DD? How much? When? What's too much? 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

@Mommabear20 we started at 6 months. Steamed Puréed veggies and then moved onto fruit and then a month into it he had a mixture of veg and ham. I did a bit of infant led weaning too, roasted sweet potato, steamed broccoli, softer fruit, toasted muffins etc . It took him a while to get into eating but now he’s got an amazing appetite and will eat pretty much everything. He is nearly 16 months now and I slowly stopped breastfeeding by 13 months ( I returned to work and he has a lot of teeth) , he refused the bottle with milk, even with my expressed milk. So I make sure he eats lots of dairy rich in calcium.
I found the wean in 15 book useful for recipe ideas, I still use them now!

Bellaphant · 03/01/2021 14:47

@Mommabear20, I had to make sure I was in a routine of actually doing 3 meals a day by 9 months, but our routine is pretty set.

Big handful/two handfuls of shreddies and milk for breakfast (until he was about 13 months I let them go mushy, now he eats them properly).
Lunch: a wrap filled with cheese, folded and microwaved (quesadilla), more usually half a slice of bread with peanut butter, Ham, cheese, pear/banana/apple/berries, sometimes some left over chicken/salmon from the night before
Dinner: usually whatever we have, very occasionally a packet if I know he won't eat it

He'll probably have another piece of fruit shrine the day, he's also feeding 3-4 times a day

Does that help? He eats more and more varied at nursery

Mommabear20 · 03/01/2021 15:18

They've both helped a lot! Thank you! I think getting into a routine of when to give her food is the first hurdle I need to conquer!

@Mommabear20, we had a weaning session at the sure start center (you probably didn't BC pandemic!) Which was really helpful. main takeaways were: do a mix of everything - cook a sweet potato and spoon feed them it but then let them pick up and eat individual bits of sweetcorn/protein, etc. Don't blend everything, they need to get used to texture (so porridge, but with blueberries as finger food).
Packets are a lot of water - don't feel bad about using them in a pinch but also they'll eat a lot more packet than your food, because it's less substantial. Try not to eat in front of the TV - eat at A table .

And my favourite piece of advice: buy a shower curtain for the floor!!

popcorndiva · 03/01/2021 20:56

My tips would be

Start with the non sweet veg first as otherwise they just want the sweet stuff

We did a mixture of everything. We blended, gave solids from our cooking and had a pouch or two after the first few months. Don't be scared when they gag its not choking and just them learning how to swallow solids etc

Every baby is different so will take to different foods so try everything. My DS loves spicy stuff , didn't like anything bland. Now at 2 he loves a curry or a chile con carne.

Don't worry too much and spend all day cooking. Milk is still the main nutrition

Mommabear20 · 04/01/2021 11:19

She is only on pouches at the moment as I'm struggling with smells of food cooking with my morning sickness, but DH has asked if we can have a roast dinner today as it's been a while so will give her some of that as finger food and see what she thinks

@Mommabear20 take a look online at what babies can and can’t eat under 6 months and then again under 1 year. There are quite a few things they shouldn’t really be having just yet. Veggies and bits from a roast should be fine but roast potatoes and other things cooked with oil and salt should be avoided for a few months. When ds was that age we just had very simple plain food, very bland. Ellas kitchen pouches were a saviour for me when he didn’t fancy potato or carrot purée lol. Seriously though there are some good books on Amazon about weaning they give you an idea on portion size and also you’ll find lots of baby friendly recipes. I was terrified of finger food when ds was a baby so I went with traditional weaning. Didn’t do any harm as he’s now nearly 2 and basically eats whatever we eat! Whatever works for you!

Mumtoalittlegirl · 04/01/2021 21:18

Hi everyone!

Checking in to catch up on how everyone is?

I found out some crazy news. This pregnancy felt so different to my first. So sick, loads of aversions/ cravings early on and I could feel the pregnancy at only 8 weeks. Booked a last minute scan as I just knew.. as I am a twin!

DH thought I was joking... we did the scan and she literally moved the thingy from side to side and said YES you’re right! It’s been a crazy few days. DH didn’t react well- I totally understand. But honestly I am so happy and I know it’s meant to be. There were two strong heartbeats too.

It has changed a lot of our plans. I won’t be going back to work at all. We’re also in the middle of buying a house so a lot going on. And worried about my little girl (she will be 3 when they’re born), I adore her and I’m so scared she won’t get enough attention.

I will probably be making some twins threads and having a bit of a meltdown on Mumsnet as only told a few friends in real life!

Hope everyone is feeling okay. Flowers

Mommabear20 · 05/01/2021 07:10

Congratulations @Mumtoalittlegirl!! That's amazing! Did they say if they were fraternal or identical?
