First time Mums in London / South East due summer 2021

Hi Ladies

I live in London and am wondering if there is anyone else in the London/Kent/Surrey area due around July 2021?

I'm a first time mum and so many of the Groups I've joined are mums who have done this before. This is so incredibly helpful to hear their past experiences, but it would be fab to meet some ladies who haven't been through it before as well.

Also, in a post covid world, it would be lovely to meet anyone local! ❤

@PandaBabyJuly
Ah that's so cool! Nice to meet some nearby mummies to be. Which hospital have you gone for? How far along are you?

I actually had my 12 week scan at Newham today. They let partners in as well so that was quite good! X

PandaBabyJuly · 24/11/2020 21:38

@MrsK21

I've gone for Princess Alexandra as that's where I had my other child (9 years ago) lol so thought I'd just repeat it all over again

I'm 10 weeks; had an early scan as I didn't know how far I was - got my 12 week one just before Christmas

Awww that's so good you didn't have to go alone Smile

mrsstarmix · 25/11/2020 09:33

@luxxlisbon or anyone else at The Homerton -

Just to let you know, I called this morning and they confirmed my first apt on 29th Dec will include first scan. Feeling reassured and excited now Smile I will be 13 weeks!

I self referred to them and had to complete a long form, so maybe that's why I didn't have a separate booking apt and scan appointment. On the letter the appointment is called 'Fetal Medicine 1st Trimester' so it's not really clear it's a scan, but it is Smile

luxxlisbon · 25/11/2020 09:37

@mrsstarmix oh thats exciting for you!
I think mine is only a booking appointment, maybe with bloods too and not a scan though as I will be about 8/9 weeks and it is at a local health centre and not Homerton itself.

I self referred too, so strange that we all have different experiences of the first appointment!
I didn't even get a letter, a midwife just called me up and gave me the appointment over the phone.

mrsstarmix · 25/11/2020 10:17

@luxxlisbon yeah that is strange! Have you looked into antenatal classes yet?

luxxlisbon · 25/11/2020 10:25

@mrsstarmix No not yet, I know some people here have already done it but I feel like I would be jinxing everything doing it too early. My 12 week scan will probably be first week of Jan when I will be 13 weeks so I might look into it then, what about you?

mrsstarmix · 25/11/2020 10:31

@luxxlisbon That sounds like a good plan. I haven't either!
I'm trying not to read too many threads on here and go at my own pace. I can see that I'm going to learn a lot on Mumsnet but also can see how it could get a bit overwhelming as a first timer!

WingingIt2021 · 26/11/2020 17:25

Evening ladies. So sorry for being MIA

I had some spotting Tuesday morning which freaked me out! I have had small bits since, but very very small, and seems to have stopped today. I took a couple of tests which were much lighter but both the test and control line were lighter so not sure what is going on! I've now been referred back to EPU and have a scan on Tuesday at QE when I'll be 6+6. The nausea has really stepped up today which im hoping is a good sign!

How are we all?

So how many of us are from East London? Quite a few!! Maybe we need to do a summary on everyone's location and due date?

@WingingIt2021spotting is so stressful, hopefully you are feeling better about it!
I had a little bit of spotting on Saturday night so about 6w2 and it massively freaked me out. Saturday it was the tiniest bit of pink when I wiped, like barely visible and then Sunday there was a little brown discharge once when I wiped. I had a bit more on Monday and by Tuesday it had stopped.
I still feel freaked out by it, if it lasted any longer I would have tried to get referred to the EPU. I haven't done that since it stopped but I'm nervous and checking every time.

I have a private scan tomorrow when I should be 7weeks so crossing my fingers everything is okay!
I feel okay today and yesterday, but Monday and Tuesday I was being sick loads. Before this I had just felt a bit nauseous but this was the first time I had actually vomited a lot. It was horrendous but I was trying to remind myself that hopefully it was a good sign.

Everything crossed for your scan on Tuesday x

feistymumma · 26/11/2020 18:16

@WingingIt2021 hello! Oh no sorry that you had a bit of a scare there, I am pleased that the ramping up of the nausea indicates that nothing is amiss. Weird thing to be pleased about right as that nauseous feeling is just the worst. From reading the threads light spotting is really common so try not to stress (hugs). Pleased to hear that you have a scan booked in. I am suffering from the worst back pain ever, totally debilitating plus sciatica pain down my left leg. I think I might just call my GP tomorrow, just driving my daughter to school which is ten minutes both ways is a struggle. Have spent most of the day in bed.

Hope you are all well ladies.

WingingIt2021 · 26/11/2020 18:24

@luxxlisbon honestly it is terrifying!! Waking up to pink blood - awful! It was only when I wiped. Like I said, I've still had small tiny bits but not much. I've now been wearing pads since Tuesday, luckily no far nothing on any pad! Yes the nausea is amazing right now, without that I would have lost all hope I think. So good you have a scan please let us know how it goes!! I think if EPU hasn't booked me in I would have brought my scan forward

@feistymumma thank you! You are totally right and I saw everywhere how common it was but even still I feel so freaked out by it! I dont think I'll believe it is okay until the scan. Oh no!! So sorry to hear about your back. Definitely reach out to the GP

Xx

Hi @WingingIt2021

Thanks for including me. Unfortunately I found out I had had a missed miscarriage on Wednesday, at 9+1. I had surgical 'management' yesterday.

I wish you all the happiest, healthiest pregnancies and babies xxx

WingingIt2021 · 28/11/2020 09:34

Oh my @TomatoSoup69 I'm absolutely devastated to read this news. Wishing you all the best and got everything crossed you heal quickly and have a very beautiful rainbow baby in the near future xx

ahh @TomatoSoup69 i'm so sorry to hear that - that's awful. Hope you're taking lots of time to rest and recover and are doing ok, have everything crossed for you for the future!

ginandtonic80 · 30/11/2020 16:17

Anyone based around Haslemere?

I'm moving there in the new year and don't know a soul!

Due mid July, first time mum, turning 40 shortly.

feistymumma · 01/12/2020 14:14

@WingingIt2021 how did the scan go today?

WingingIt2021 · 01/12/2020 15:19

Hi @feistymumma thanks so much for remembering and asking 🙂

Little bean was there with a heartbeat flashing away on screen. The negative is bean is measuring about a week behind and they did see a small bleed as well, which explains the spotting. So basically we need bean to catch up and the bleed to pass / go away before I can properly relax. I have a midwife apt on Thursday so going to speak to them and hopefully I can be monitored to make sure things are developing. If not I have a private scan in 3 weeks so hopefully that will be cleaer 🙂 i am not overally excited at the prospect of more bleeding but hopefully if it does pass it won't be a lot!

How are you?

OP posts:
feistymumma · 01/12/2020 15:28

Aaaaaawww how exciting, so happy for you @WingingIt2021. I read somewhere that it is perfectly normal for the development to be a week or two out in the first trimester so I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. I can't wait for my scan but it is all the way on the 21st Jan, haven't really explored a private scan. I might in the end, will see how it goes. I have been ok but with the worst back ache known to mankind - the weekend was awful but I feel better today. Also had a tummy ache to contend with. Apart from that all is well.

feistymumma · 01/12/2020 15:28

Pressed send too quickly, thank you for asking.

WingingIt2021 · 01/12/2020 15:42

Thanks @feistymumma I'm definitely pleased with the heartbeat but obviously slightly concerned about the bleed and the growth.
Sorry to hear about the back ache! That is everyone stretching and growing which is great! Definitely just see how you feel about a private scan. You don't need one, I booked one just before Xmas as I wanted to tell close family Xmas day

WingingIt2021 · 03/12/2020 15:03

Hi ladies

Quick update. Had my booking appointment with QE and was very impressed. They offer 3 scans (an extra one at 34 weeks) and appointments with the midwife at 8 weeks and 16 weeks. So it works out I'll be seeing someone at least once a month until April!

Hope everyone is keeping well
