First time Mums in London / South East due summer 2021

Hi Ladies

I live in London and am wondering if there is anyone else in the London/Kent/Surrey area due around July 2021?

I'm a first time mum and so many of the Groups I've joined are mums who have done this before. This is so incredibly helpful to hear their past experiences, but it would be fab to meet some ladies who haven't been through it before as well.

Also, in a post covid world, it would be lovely to meet anyone local! ❤

@Violetbeau ah amazing!! It is better it is growing ahead rather than behind, super strong one! Do you live in Woolwich? I'm okay, I'm super early still, 5+5, so very little happening. Had very very mild nausea today but expecting it to start to ramp up. I'm incredibly nervous about the whole thing that something will go wrong. Have a private scan booked for 4 weeks today so will hopefully feel a bit calmer after that!

Hello all,

Just got my booking appointment text this afternoon for the 12th December, @WingingIt2021 did yours last 75mins? Seems an awfully long time. When do they let us know about the scan date? Is it at the booking appointment? My belly is already showing but then again this is baby number four! Realised I replied to a first time babies thread when I had already pressed send. :)

Violetbeau · 23/11/2020 17:37

@WingingIt2021 no I’m in deptford, actually closer to Lewisham but I chose Greenwich as I agree, the birth centre looks amazing there!

Hope all goes well for you in the next few weeks!

WingingIt2021 · 23/11/2020 17:39

Hi @feistymumma no you are more than welcome to join! My booking apt is also 75mins next week. I already have my scan appointment date, which hospital are you.? Each hospital does it differently.and some wait until after the booking apt. QE send it all up front

Ah amazing @violetbeau not too far at all!! Hopefully we can meet with the babies in Greenwich, I'm there loads when the weather is nice! I can jump on the clipper

Thank you, I'm at QE as well. I'll change my option to birthing centre when I have my booking appointment. Perhaps the letter is coming in the post with the scan date. I might as well be a first time month as my last born is 11 and my eldest is 22, haven't broken the news to anyone yet.

Violetbeau · 23/11/2020 17:49

@WingingIt2021 that would be lovely!

WingingIt2021 · 23/11/2020 17:49

Ah amazing @feistymumma yes definitely look at the birthing centre it looks incredible! Wow what an age gap that is. How far gone are you? Where abouts do you live?

Wow this thread really kicked off!

@WingingIt2021 - Thank you for bring us all together! I completed a self referral form for Homerton I guess that's like a booking apt, so I'm assuming the first apt will include scan as it's booked for 29th Dec and I'll be 13 weeks. Luckily they are allowing partners to all appointments now and I'm close to canary wharf so not too far to Homerton. I'm craving a lot of oranges and orange juice and unfortunately pizza! I am also trying not to sneeze with too much vigour Grin

@luxxlisbon - Nice to hear you will be at Homerton too Smile
@plantloveJolly - I'm due 5/6th July and will also be at Homerton Smile
Hope to bump into you both at some point! When are your appointments?

@PandaBabyJuly - your scan pic is so cool! Slightly jealous of everyone who has had a scan so far as yes, as @TomatoSoup69 said - sometimes it feels not real atm! I even did another test last week just to make sure (even though I am 8 weeks today) - irrational I know!

I'm also a first timer and not even looked into NCT classes or anything really as I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing! I'm very go with the flow but I think I'm going to learn a lot from everyone here!

WingingIt2021 · 23/11/2020 18:01

Ah @mrsstarmix I lived in South Quay for 4 years before I moved to Woolwich! My brother lives there now so am there a lot!
So glad we have a good little group of us all nearby. Hopefully post covid we can meet for pre and post pregnancy lunches!

mrsstarmix · 23/11/2020 18:03

@WingingIt2021 Yes definitely, I would really like that! And I love your user name - sums my approach up nicely!

WingingIt2021 · 23/11/2020 18:06

@mrsstarmix I created it especially for the pregnancy boards 😂😂😂

I live in Woolwich near the army barracks, am 6 weeks although I suspect I might be further along if I go by my previous pregnancies where when I miss my periods I will already be eight weeks. That could explain the tummy showing already

WingingIt2021 · 23/11/2020 18:15

@feistymumma I went for a walk by the barracks today for Barrick park! Definitely very close 🙂

feistymumma · 23/11/2020 19:47

Oh wow @WingingIt2021 very close indeed

Boredinthehouse12 · 23/11/2020 19:58

Hi ladies, I have my booking in appointment with QE tomorrow. It’s over the phone and according to the text booking confirmation it should last about 45 mins. I’m only 4+3 so I’m surprised they’re doing it so early?

WingingIt2021 · 23/11/2020 20:29

@Boredinthehouse12 wow that is really early. They go off your lmp, so are you sure that gives the right dates? It is meant to be between 7-8 weeks. But absolutely no harm in having it early

OP posts:
Boredinthehouse12 · 23/11/2020 20:50

@WingingIt2021 According to LMP I’m definitely just over 4 weeks. I’m thinking maybe they’re doing it early because I ticked the box about my previous MMC on the self referral.. who knows, I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

WingingIt2021 · 24/11/2020 07:08

@Boredinthehouse12 definitely no harm in having it early lovely. Let me know how it goes!! ❤❤

@mrsstarmix I've my booking appointment on the 10th and I'm assuming they don't book your 12 week scan until after that as I've not heard anything.
I'm so glad they are allowing partners for all the scans, such a relief!

SweetDreams92 · 24/11/2020 11:49

Hi all and great thread @WingingIt2021 😊

I am currently 9+4 and it's nice to see a fellow first time mum from Croydon here @dellarossa!

I just went with Croydon University Hospital as it's so close to me but after reading other comments I'm starting to think I should've done some research into other options. Although have already had my booking in appointment and an early scan and all good so far!

MrsK21 · 24/11/2020 12:44

Hi all,
Hope it's ok to join? I'm a first time mum to be- due early June 21. I'm in Redbridge, east London / Essex border.
What a great idea for a thread!
I'm in a Facebook group but there are very few local ladies on there.

I've gone for newham general as it's near my in laws. Hope it all turns out ok, just had booking appointment so far x

dellarossa · 24/11/2020 13:34

Nice to meet a follow Croydonite @SweetDreams92!

I’m with CUH too as they’re my closest and have been really impressed so far - I had some bleeding at 7ish weeks and the EPU were fantastic, and the midwives I met at my booking in appt were lovely! They showed me around the birth centre there too which looks really nice, did you get a chance to look round at your appointment? I definitely hope I’m able to go there! If you didn’t you can see photos online if you search Lucina Birth Centre 😀

mrsstarmix · 24/11/2020 18:18

@luxxlisbon Hmmm I'm gonna call them this week and check exactly what my appointment is for on the 29th!

PandaBabyJuly · 24/11/2020 19:53

@MrsK21 hi! You must be very near me as all them places you've listed are where I am too Smile

Hope your booking appointment went well
