The waiting Game - Labour

Thought it would be fun to start a thread where we can all drive each other crazy analysing every little twinge and pain together 😂 hopefully we can all keep each other company whilst we wait for the show to go on the road! I'm 38 weeks plus and very Impatinetly awaiting little ones arrival in the hopes of escaping an induction. Heres to hoping it all kicks off for us!

@Whatinthename20 I seem to get these every time I stand up at the moment, getting out of bed is the worst, going from laying down to standing, so painful!

How's everyone feeling today? Any developments?

Today I feel done with pregnancy! I slept for 45 minute stretches last night and then decided to deep clean my range today and I feel like a complete whale! Am toying with whether not even bothering to pretend to plan and make dinner and just order takeaway is a legitimate choice, but then I think "oh but what about late pregnancy weight gain".

@RestorationInsanity I feel you, also feeling done today and so bored!! I think takeaway is perfectly acceptable, anything for an easy life at the moment!

I don't understand all the people saying I should be relaxing and enjoying this time! I can't lie down because it's uncomfortable, I can't sit or stand for too long because it's uncomfortable, I can no longer do most of the things I enjoy because I can't bend, stretch, twist or move faster than a fairly large marine mammal. Believe me, I am not complaining about the baby, I'm just done being pregnant, I want the baby here!

@Stargazer87 I am going to give DH the option of beans on toast (made by him) or takeaway. That way I've at least put a healthier option up for consideration 😂

@RestorationInsanity @Stargazer87 also feeling done!! Got any plans today to take your mind off it?

I had a bad back last night but that’s gone, also had a random tightening low down on my right hand side of my pelvis this morning which is strange actually as it’s always been on the left before.

@Pink15 I'm currently watching the west wing, trying to finish my Christmas shopping and drinking tea! I may make mincemeat this evening, or tomorrow if I run out of oomph. Managed to get some sleep last night. DH gave me a leg/back massage before bed which helped I think.

@peachypetite glad to hear the back has settled. Late third trimester definitely seems to come with some new and weird aches and pains!

Ha! Ditto. I spend more time with the local delivery drivers than anyone else!

We're on a second floor flat and lately the delivery drivers have taken to just chucking the parcels inside the building door downstairs. Someone in our building likes to steal parcels so I have to run down and grab them as soon as they're delivered, at least I'm making good use of the stairs!

Completely the same with online shopping, I find myself buying all sorts of random things and it's quite embarrassing the amount of deliveries turning up! 🙈🤣

@RestorationInsanity sounds similar to me I need to finish some online Christmas shopping and do some cooking/baking!

I had an interesting night and morning with contractions coming really regularly and quite uncomfortable but they’ve now fizzled out and I’m just left with Braxton Hicks again. Has anyone else had this? Hope it means something will happen soon, but also prepared for it to have been a complete false start!

@Babyevictionimminent Just out of interest what do you class as the difference between contractions and braxton hicks? I asked my midwife about this and she said they're essentially the same thing so confused as to how I'm meant to tell the difference? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Braxton Hicks I can feel my tummy tighten, sometimes a slight feeling of breathlessness and it’s mainly all at the top of the bump. I can talk through them and largely ignore that they’re happening. With the contractions I feel them as an intense backache which radiate to the front as a cramp, similar to a bad period pain. With my first labour those period pains became more and more intense alongside pressure until she was born. @Stargazer87 I’m guessing it all feels different for everyone though?

@Babyevictionimminent wow! @Stargazer87 with the real thing I guess it’s because they don’t stop and ramp up and get closer together!

How's everyone doing? Any more signs? Walking is still so painful for me and my breasts have definitely been fuller these past couple of days...not sure if that means anything? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I thought I was in early labour yesterday and got very excited, as I was having a lot of lower back cramps. Then realised I just needed an iron tablet poo

@addler I'm also getting a lot of back cramps...it's so difficult second guessing everything isn't it!

I have my 40 week appointment this afternoon and hoping for a sweep. Any pointers?

@Whatinthename20 I know some areas aren't doing sweeps due to covid...no idea what the logic is there!

Had my sweep yesterday, was 1-2cm dilated. Had a bit of blood after. This morning lost my mucus plug (tinged with old blood) then had sex. Is this even safe? Waters are still intact. Any experience of how much longer labour will start after bloody show? FTM

Morning all! Baby unexpectedly arrived yesterday night at exactly 38 weeks! Currently on the post natal ward staring at our gorgeous baby girl and trying to replenish enough liquid to fill an Olympic swimming pool!
